McGhee Tyson Airport

McGhee Tyson Air National Guard Base (IATA: TYS, ICAO: KTYS, FAA LID: TYS) is a joint military facility located at McGhee Tyson Airport. It is located approximately 10 miles (16 km) south of the central business district of Knoxville, near Alcoa, Tennessee. It was the site of McGhee Tyson Air Force Base from 1952 until 1960.

Alcoa is a city in Blount County, Tennessee, United States. Its population was 10,978 at the 2020 census. It is part of the Knoxville, TN Metropolitan Statistical Area. As its name suggests, Alcoa was the site of a large aluminum smelting plant owned and operated by the Alcoa corporation (Aluminum Company of America). Formerly known as North Maryville, the town was incorporated under its present name in 1919.

Alcoa High School is a 9-12 public high school located in Alcoa, Tennessee. It is the only high school in the Alcoa City Schools system. Recently moved into the NEW Alcoa High School. It is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS).

The Samuel George House is a historic house in Louisville, Tennessee, U.S.. It was built with slave labor circa 1815 for Samuel George, a farmer. By 1978, it still belonged to the George family. It has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since January 27, 1982.

The Lt. Alexander "Sandy" Bonnyman Medal of Honor Memorial Bridge is a bridge which carries the Pellissippi Parkway (Interstate 140, I-140) across the Fort Loudoun Lake impoundment of the Tennessee River between Blount and Knox counties in the US state of Tennessee. It was constructed between 1987 and 1989, and opened to traffic in 1992. It is named for Alexander Bonnyman Jr., a United States Marine Corps officer who was killed in action in the Battle of Tarawa during World War II.

Millennium Manor is a house in Alcoa, Tennessee. It was built from June 1937 to December, 1946, by William Andrew Nicholson and his wife Fair, who had moved to Alcoa, from Pickens County, Georgia, where William was a mason and carpenter. In 1937 he got a job with the Alcoa plant as a replacement for striking workers. Nicholson started construction of Millennium Manor at the age of 61 while maintaining a full-time job at the Alcoa plant across the street. The Nicholsons designed the building using Roman architectural techniques, and intended Millennium Manor to survive for hundreds of years, including the passing of Armageddon, which they believed would occur in 1969. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2020.

Alcoa Tenn Federal Credit Union (commonly ATFCU or Alcoa Tenn) is a credit union founded in the city of Alcoa, Tennessee that has since spread around Blount and Loudon, and Monroe Counties in Tennessee. Founded on July 9, 1936, as Plate Mill Employees Credit Union connected to the aluminum company ALCOA, the credit union is now a community credit union. It would gain its current name in 1959.The credit union has assets over $350 million. Its current President/CEO is David Gill. ATFCU currently has five branches in the cities of Alcoa, Maryville, and Vonore. It is federally insured by the National Credit Union Administration and a member of the Tennessee Credit Union League. Every year the credit union awards the Franklin E. Robinson Memorial Award to a local high school senior. The award is named for a long-serving engineer and former ATFCU board member.
