Las Vegas Bay

Gypsum Wash is an ephemeral stream or wash in Clark County, Nevada. Gypsum Wash was originally a tributary of Las Vegas Wash before the formation of Lake Mead which submerged their confluence under Las Vegas Bay. Due to the lowering of the reservoir over recent years Gypsum Wash is once again a tributary of Las Vegas Wash, now exposed at 36°07′04″N 114°50′54″W at an elevation of 1085 feet. When Las Vegas Bay is at its full level, Gypsum Wash flows into Lower Gypsum Wash Cove at 36°07′43″N 114°51′26″W at an elevation of 1,204 feet (367 meters).Gypsum Wash has its source in the Dry Lake Range, at 36°20′45″N 114°52′08″W at an elevation of 3,120 feet (950 meters).

Las Vegas Wash is a 12-mile-long channel (an "arroyo" or "wash") which feeds most of the Las Vegas Valley's excess water into Lake Mead. The wash is sometimes called an urban river, and it exists in its present capacity because of an urban population. The wash also works in a systemic conjunction with the pre-existing wetlands that formed the oasis of the Las Vegas Valley. The wash is fed by urban runoff, shallow ground water, reclaimed water used on parks and golf courses, and stormwater.The wetlands of the Las Vegas Valley act as the kidneys of the environment, cleaning the water that runs through it. The wetlands filter out harmful residues from fertilizers, oils, and other contaminants that can be found on the roadways and in the surrounding desert. Near its terminus at Las Vegas Bay, the wash passes under the man made Lake Las Vegas through two 7-foot pipes.

The Three Kids Mine is a defunct open-pit manganese mine in Henderson, Nevada, United States which operated from 1917 to 1961. The abandoned mine—located near Nevada State Route 564 just south of the Lake Las Vegas neighborhood—now stands popularly used as a location for graffiti art and is planned for redevelopment to a residential area as of 2023.

It is being developed by 5 companies including Lake at Las Vegas Joint Venture LLC.The area includes three resorts including the Aston MonteLago Village Resort, the Westin Lake Las Vegas Resort, and the Hilton Lake Las Vegas.

Boulder Basin is the westernmost of the three basins occupied by the Lake Mead reservoir and lies within the boundaries of Clark County, Nevada and Mohave County, Arizona. It includes the area between Hoover Dam and the mouth of Boulder Canyon at Auxiliary Point. When the reservoir is full it reaches an elevation of 1,204 feet (367 meters). It includes Las Vegas Bay, Swallow Bay, Callville Bay and Hamblin Bay.

Jimbilnan Wilderness is an 18,879 acre (7,640 ha) wilderness area that starts from the northeast side of the Black Mountains and extends eastward towards Lake Mead. On its west side lies Pinto Valley Wilderness Park, and Las Vegas can be found 40 miles (64 km) west from the area. Jimbilnan Wilderness was designated as a wilderness area in 2002 and is under the management of the National Park Service.

Gypsum Cave is a limestone cave in eastern Clark County, Nevada, United States, about 15 miles (24 km) east of Las Vegas, that is listed on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP).

The Gypsum Cave Mine is a gypsum-anhydrite and uranium mine located in Clark County, Nevada, United States, on the Intermontane Plateaus, 12 miles (19 km) east of North Las Vegas.

Lake Mead National Recreation Area is a U.S. national recreation area in southeastern Nevada and northwestern Arizona. Operated by the National Park Service, Lake Mead NRA follows the Colorado River corridor from the westernmost boundary of Grand Canyon National Park to just north of the cities of Laughlin, Nevada and Bullhead City, Arizona. It includes all of the eponymous Lake Mead as well as the smaller Lake Mohave – reservoirs on the river created by Hoover Dam and Davis Dam, respectively – and the surrounding desert terrain and wilderness.Formation of Lake Mead began in 1935, less than a year before Hoover Dam was completed. The area surrounding Lake Mead was protected a bird refuge in 1933, later established as the Boulder Dam Recreation Area in 1936 and the name was changed to Lake Mead National Recreation Area in 1947. In 1964, the area was expanded to include Lake Mohave and its surrounding area and became the first National Recreation Area to be designated as such by the U.S. Congress.
