Las Vegas Wash

Gypsum Wash is an ephemeral stream or wash in Clark County, Nevada. Gypsum Wash was originally a tributary of Las Vegas Wash before the formation of Lake Mead which submerged their confluence under Las Vegas Bay. Due to the lowering of the reservoir over recent years Gypsum Wash is once again a tributary of Las Vegas Wash, now exposed at 36°07′04″N 114°50′54″W at an elevation of 1085 feet. When Las Vegas Bay is at its full level, Gypsum Wash flows into Lower Gypsum Wash Cove at 36°07′43″N 114°51′26″W at an elevation of 1,204 feet (367 meters).Gypsum Wash has its source in the Dry Lake Range, at 36°20′45″N 114°52′08″W at an elevation of 3,120 feet (950 meters).

Las Vegas Bay is a bay at the western edge of Lake Mead in the U.S. state of Nevada. The bay is located within the Lake Mead National Recreation Area to the northeast of the city of Henderson, Nevada, near the junction of Lake Mead Drive and Lake Mead Boulevard. A public campground and boat access are available in Las Vegas Bay. Low water levels of Lake Mead have rendered the marina there inoperable, and it has moved to the Hemenway Boat Harbor, in the south end of the Boulder Basin. The launch ramp there has also been closed due to the water levels. The bay is the natural discharge point for the Las Vegas Wash.

The Three Kids Mine is a defunct open-pit manganese mine in Henderson, Nevada, United States which operated from 1917 to 1961. The abandoned mine—located near Nevada State Route 564 just south of the Lake Las Vegas neighborhood—now stands popularly used as a location for graffiti art and is planned for redevelopment to a residential area as of 2023.

Tuscany Village is a golf course community located in Henderson, Nevada. It was originally proposed by developer Jim Rhodes in 1995, under the name Palm City. The project was proposed for the former site of the Stewart gravel pit. The surrounding area initially sparked concern about the location's suitability, due to various environmental issues at the time. The site was located near sewage ponds and a longtime manufacturer of chemicals which had contaminated the land. Groundwater was also found to have high radioactive levels. Rhodes graded the property in the late 1990s, but never began construction. His lender became insolvent and he sold the property in 2000 to Commerce Associates, which renamed the project Tuscany Hills. The property and surrounding acreage were designated by Henderson as a redevelopment area, making the project eligible for city funding. After various delays, the Tuscany Golf Club opened in 2003. It is 150 acres (61 hectares), and was designed by Ted Robinson. Rhodes subsequently took back ownership of the course and the undeveloped residential land. Home construction was underway in 2005. Rhodes filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy four years later, and Tuscany was turned over to creditors. At the time, 700 of 2,000 planned homes had been built. Ownership changed several more times, and the golf course was renamed Chimera Golf Club in 2015.

KBET (790 kHz) is a commercial AM radio station licensed to Winchester, Nevada and broadcasting to the Las Vegas Valley. It is owned and operated by Silver State Broadcasting LLC and is currently silent. Its studios are in the unincorporated Clark County community of Enterprise. KBET broadcasts with 1,000 watts by day, reducing power to 300 watts at night to avoid interfering with other stations on 790 AM. The transmitter is off Telephone Pole Road in Whitney, Nevada. KBET is also heard on FM translator 103.1 MHz K276GX in Las Vegas.KBET recently carried nationally syndicated conservative talk shows most of the day, mainly from Cumulus Media subsidiary Westwood One. They included Chris Plante, Dan Bongino and "Red Eye Radio." In addition, "Armstrong & Getty" from KSTE Sacramento was heard in morning drive time. Alex Jones from the Genesis Communications Network aired early weekday and weekend mornings and Ground Zero with Clyde Lewis was heard in late evenings. Most hours began with Fox News Radio.

Frenchman Mountain is a mountain located east of Las Vegas, Nevada. Made up of rocks similar to those found on the bottom of the Grand Canyon, Frenchman Mountain formed when faulting elevated and tilted the rocks followed by erosion, giving it its sharp triangular profile. The mountain provides an example of the Great Unconformity with the tilted Paleozoic Tapeats Sandstone underlain by Paleoproterozoic Vishnu Schist, which is some of the oldest rock on the North American continent, having been created about two billion years ago. The peak lies on a north to north-northeast trending ridge about 2000 feet above the nearby valleys. Sunrise Mountain lies 3.6 miles (5.8 km) to the northeast adjacent to Nellis Air Force Base. The north end of the McCullough Range about 12 miles (19 km) to the south has a parallel trend. The River Mountains lie to the southeast. State Route 147 crosses its northern slope. A geologically rich area called Rainbow Gardens is located to its southeast, as is an igneous laccolith, Lava Butte. The Frenchman Mountain Fault poses a significant earthquake danger to the Clark County region.It is likely named after the Frenchman Mine, which itself was alleged to be the site of a stock scam by a Belgian immigrant (mistakenly assumed to be French). It is commonly referred to as Sunrise Mountain, the name of a smaller peak to the north of Frenchman Mountain, because the sun rises over it in some areas of Las Vegas. The area from Cheyenne Avenue and Boulder Highway and Lamb Boulevard is commonly known as Sunrise Manor Township CDP. Local conservationists have proposed the area, along with Gypsum Cave and Sunrise Mountain, be protected as a national monument.
