Gogołowa [ɡɔɡɔˈwɔva] is a village in the administrative district of Gmina Mszana, within Wodzisław County, Silesian Voivodeship, in southern Poland. It lies approximately 7 kilometres (4 mi) north-east of Mszana, 11 km (7 mi) east of Wodzisław Śląski, and 40 km (25 mi) south-west of the regional capital Katowice.

Since the 14th century the name had been scribed as Skrzetzkowitz, Skrzeczkowicz, Skreczkowitz. The German name Eichendorf, after a German poet (Joseph Freiherr von Eichendorff), appeared in 1907, which was a result of the arrival of German settlers in 1904.

It lies approximately 4 kilometres (2 mi) south-east of Jankowice Rybnickie, 8 km (5 mi) south of Rybnik, and 40 km (25 mi) south-west of the regional capital Katowice. The village was first mentioned in a Latin document of Diocese of Wrocław called Liber fundationis episcopatus Vratislaviensis from around 1305 as item in Swrklant debent esse XXIII) mansi.

The Zofiówka coal mine is a large mine in the south of Poland in Jastrzębie-Zdrój, Silesian Voivodeship, 307 km south-west of the capital, Warsaw. Zofiówka represents one of the largest coal reserve in Poland having estimated reserves of 87 million tonnes of coal. The annual coal production is around 3.7 million tonnes.

The first is that it is derived from the word bór (Polish: a conifer forest). The second connects it with the word bor, in Old Polish denoting fighting. The third theory explains the name as derived from the personal name Borysław.

It lies approximately 2 kilometres (1 mi) east of Jankowice Rybnickie (the gmina seat), 6 km (4 mi) south of Rybnik, and 40 km (25 mi) south-west of the regional capital Katowice.
