St Martin's Church, Allerton Mauleverer

Allerton Mauleverer is a village in North Yorkshire, England. It is part of the Allerton Mauleverer with Hopperton parish. The parish lies just 5 miles (8 km) east of the town of Knaresborough. The A1(M) runs through the area connecting London and Edinburgh. From 1947 to 1998, Allerton Mauleverer was part of the Claro Registration District, until it was abolished. Until 1974 it was part of the West Riding of Yorkshire. From 1974 to 2023 it was part of the Borough of Harrogate, it is now administered by the unitary North Yorkshire Council. In the 1870s, John Marius Wilson's Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales described Allerton Mauleverer as "a township and a parish in Knaresborough district, W. R. Yorkshire. The township includes Hopperton; and lies on an affluent of the Nidd, at the Allerton r. station, 4+1⁄2 miles [7 km] ENE of Knaresborough." The name Allerton Mauleverer originally meant "Aelfweard's farm/settlement". Referring to farm held by the Mauleverer family in the 12th century.

Allerton Castle, also known as Allerton Park, is a Grade I listed nineteenth-century Gothic or Victorian Gothic house at Allerton Mauleverer in North Yorkshire, England. It was rebuilt by architect George Martin, of Baker Street, London in 1843–1853. It is ten miles (16 km) east of Harrogate and just east of the A1(M), at its junction with the A59 York-Knaresborough road and a late 20th-century block used for education and corporate functions. Outside is St Martin's Church, Allerton Mauleverer.

Allerton Mauleverer with Hopperton is a civil parish in North Yorkshire, England. At the 2011 Census, the parish had a population of 150, an increase from 130 at the 2001 Census. As its name suggests, the parish includes the villages of Allerton Mauleverer and Hopperton. From 1974 to 2023 it was part of the Selby District, it is now administered by the unitary North Yorkshire Council. It is in the ecclesiastical parish of Whixley with Green Hammerton, in the Diocese of Leeds.

Allerton Mauleverer Priory was a medieval monastic house in North Yorkshire, England. The site is in Allerton Mauleverer with Hopperton Parish in the former Harrogate District of North Yorkshire. Richard Mauleverer founded the priory c. 1100 in the Benedictine order and granted them tithes and lands. The site was granted to the Abbey of Marmoutier in Normandy in 1110 which made it an alien priory.

Hopperton is a village in the county of North Yorkshire, England. It is part of the Allerton Mauleverer with Hopperton parish. The village is situated close to the A59, the A1(M) and the A168. Cattal railway station is situated just under two miles from the village with services to Leeds, York and Harrogate. Until 1958, Hopperton had its own railway station next to a level crossing on the original A1 Great North Road. The village had one pub, the Mason Arms, which closed in 2020 and is now a dwelling house . The nearest towns are Knaresborough 4 miles (6.4 km) to the west, and across the county border in West Yorkshire, Wetherby 5 miles (8 km) to the south west. The latter offers the closest large supermarket to Hopperton. From 1974 to 2023 it was part of the Borough of Harrogate, it is now administered by the unitary North Yorkshire Council.

Claro was a wapentake of the West Riding of Yorkshire, England. It was split into two divisions. The Upper Division included the parishes of Farnham, Fewston, Hampsthwaite, Kirkby Malzeard and Pannal and parts of Aldborough, Knaresborough, Otley, Little Ouseburn, Ripley, Ripon, Wetherby and Whixley, many of which formed exclaves. The Lower Division included the parishes of Allerton Mauleverer, Goldsborough, Hunsingore, Kirk Deighton, Kirkby Overblow, Leathley, Spofforth with Stockeld, Weston and parts of Addingham, Aldborough, Harewood, Ilkley, Kirk Hammerton, Otley, Ripley and Whixley. At the time of the Domesday Book the wapentake was known as Burghshire, named from its meeting place at Aldborough. In the 12th century the name was changed to Claro, from Claro Hill near Coneythorpe, presumably its meeting place. Claro wapentake is exceptional because it is one of the few hundreds or wapentakes to have divisions with exclaves. The historic reasons for this situation are obscure but are likely based on patterns of settlement and transportation. The area of the wapentake falls almost entirely within the former district of Harrogate in North Yorkshire. Claro Registration District, existed from 1 January 1947 until 1 April 1974, when it was absorbed by the North Yorkshire district.

Allerton waste recovery park is a waste recovery and incineration site located on a former quarry at Allerton Mauleverer, near Knaresborough, England. It is operated by AmeyCespa on behalf of North Yorkshire County Council and City of York Council, the site is capable of handling 320,000 tonnes (350,000 tons) of household waste per year. The site is expected to cost £1.4 billion over 25 years, but is estimated it that the cost of not incinerating over the same time period would be £1.7 billion in landfill and other costs. Despite being labelled as just an incinerator, it also recycles and uses biodegradable waste to generate biogas, which is why it is known as a waste recovery park. The site is just off the A168, 4 miles (6.4 km) east of Knaresborough and 7 miles (11 km) north of Wetherby.

Clareton is a hamlet in the civil parish of Coneythorpe and Clareton, in North Yorkshire, England. Since 24 March 1888 it has shared a civil parish with the neighbouring village of Coneythorpe, to the southwest. Its name is said to come from the meeting place, a local hill, of the ancient Wapentake of Claro. Unlike Coneythorpe, Clareton is recorded in the Domesday Book. In 1066 Clareton was worth £10, but by 1086 only £2 15s., with much of the land being waste following the Harrying of the North. Until 1974 the hamlet was within the West Riding of Yorkshire, and, until 2023, Clareton was then part of the Borough of Harrogate. It is now administered by the unitary North Yorkshire Council.

Flaxby is a village and civil parish in the Harrogate district of North Yorkshire, England. It is close to the A1(M) motorway and 2 miles (3.2 km) east of Knaresborough. Flaxby was once part of the wapentake of Claro. It is also part of the ecclesiastical parish of Goldsborough (St Mary).In 1994, an Early Iron Age farmstead of the 7th–6th centuries BC was discovered by archaeologists, but the site was abandoned until the late Roman period.Proposals have been put forward to develop the land to the east of Flaxby, north of the A59 road and west of the A1(M) motorway into a new town called Flaxby Park. The developers have announced their intention to build 2,500 - 3,000 homes on 440 acres (180 ha) of land that would also see a primary school, a medical centre, leisure facilities and numerous shops and bars. The development would also include a bus park and ride system with the possibility of a new railway station on the York to Harrogate line. A railway station has already been proposed at Flaxby Moor (south of the A59) but in 2014, a feasibility study of new stations predicted a low demand of passenger numbers from a new station on the line.

Coneythorpe is a village in North Yorkshire, England. It is in the Harrogate district, and situated less than 1 mile (1.6 km) west from the A1(M) motorway.

Goldsborough railway station served the village of Goldsborough, North Yorkshire, England from 1850 to 1965 on the Harrogate line. The station was over 13 miles (21 km) west of York railway station, and nearly 3 miles (4.8 km) east of Knaresborough. The site of the station has been bought by a development company, with a view to reopening as Flaxby Parkway.
