Centre de Morphologie Mathématique (or Center of Mathematical Morphology, or CMM) is a research center of the École des Mines de Paris, France, devoted to the research and promotion of mathematical morphology. It was created in 1968 as a result of the works of Georges Matheron and Jean Serra, who were hired as its first director and assistant director, respectively. In 1979, the center was renamed Centre de Géostatistique et de Morphologie Mathématique, reflecting its increased scope. In 1986, the part related to geostatistics split into an independent center (Centre de Géostatistique), still directed by Matheron. Serra was named the directory of the new CMM. The research center developed XLim which was used at the origin of Aphelion developments in 1999. The CMM is located at Fontainebleau, France.

The Centre hospitalier Sud Seine et Marne is a teaching hospital in Fontainebleau, Montereau-Fault-Yonne and Nemours. It is a teaching hospital of Paris-Est Créteil University.It is a result of the merger of three hospitals in each of the above cities.It was established in January 2017.

The arrondissement of Fontainebleau is an arrondissement of France in the Seine-et-Marne department in the Île-de-France region. It has 85 communes. Its population is 155,817 (2019), and its area is 1,228.5 km2 (474.3 sq mi).

The Communauté d'agglomération du Pays de Fontainebleau is a communauté d'agglomération in the Seine-et-Marne département and in the Île-de-France région of France. It was formed in January 2017 by the merger of the former Communauté de communes du pays de Fontainebleau, the Communauté de communes entre Seine et Forêt and several communes from other communities. Its area is 437.4 km2. Its population was 68,480 in 2018, of which 15,407 in Fontainebleau proper.

Palace of Fontainebleau ( FON-tin-bloh, US also -⁠bloo; French: Château de Fontainebleau [ʃɑto d(ə) fɔ̃tɛnblo]), located 55 kilometers (34 miles) southeast of the center of Paris, in the commune of Fontainebleau, is one of the largest French royal châteaux. The medieval castle and subsequent palace served as a residence for the French monarchs from Louis VII to Napoleon III. Francis I and Napoleon were the monarchs who had the most influence on the palace as it stands today. It became a national museum in 1927 and was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1981 for its unique architecture and historical importance.

The Chinese Museum or musée chinois is a section of the Palace of Fontainebleau that keeps artifacts from Qing dynasty China, the Kingdom of Siam, and other Asian countries, including diplomatic gifts and plunder from the Second Opium War. Opened in 1863 by Empress Eugénie, it is one of the world's oldest museums specifically dedicated to Asian art.

Fontainebleau ( FON-tin-bloh, US also -⁠bloo, French: [fɔ̃tɛnblo] ) is a commune in the metropolitan area of Paris, France. It is located 55.5 kilometres (34.5 mi) south-southeast of the centre of Paris. Fontainebleau is a sub-prefecture of the Seine-et-Marne department, and it is the seat of the arrondissement of Fontainebleau. The commune has the largest land area in the Île-de-France region; it is the only one to cover a larger area than Paris itself. The commune is closest to Seine-et-Marne Prefecture, Melun. Fontainebleau, together with the neighbouring commune of Avon and three other smaller communes, form an urban area of 36,724 inhabitants (2018). This urban area is a satellite of Paris. Fontainebleau is renowned for the large and scenic forest of Fontainebleau, a favourite weekend getaway for Parisians, as well as for the historic Château de Fontainebleau, which once belonged to the kings of France. It is also the home of INSEAD, one of the world's most elite business schools. Inhabitants of Fontainebleau are sometimes called Bellifontains.

The Synagogue of Fontainebleau is an Orthodox Jewish congregation and synagogue, located in the southeast end of Rue Paul-Séramy, before Place du Bois-d'Hyver and not far from downtown Fontainebleau, in the southwest of Département of Seine-et-Marne, France. The building and its land are adjacent to the gardens of the Palace of Fontainebleau. The modern-day synagogue was completed in 1965, to replace an earlier synagogue, completed in 1857, which was burned down during the Nazi occupation of France in 1941.

Avon (French: [avɔ̃] ) is a commune in the Seine-et-Marne department in the Île-de-France region in north-central France.

The forest of Fontainebleau (French: Forêt de Fontainebleau, or Forêt de Bière, meaning "forest of heather") is a mixed deciduous forest lying sixty kilometres (37 mi) southeast of Paris, France. It is located primarily in the arrondissement of Fontainebleau in the southwestern part of the department of Seine-et-Marne. Most of it also lies in the canton of Fontainebleau, although parts of it extend into adjoining cantons, and even as far west as the town of Milly-la-Forêt in the neighboring department, Essonne. Several communes lie within the forest, notably the towns of Fontainebleau and Avon. The forest has an area of 250 km2 (97 sq mi).

Fontainebleau–Avon station (French: Gare de Fontainebleau–Avon) is a railway station in Avon and Fontainebleau, Île-de-France, France. The station is at kilometric point (KP) 58.941 on the Paris–Marseille railway line. The station is served by Transilien (commuter) and TER (regional) services operated by SNCF. The station was once served by the TGV a few years ago. The station is served by Transilien line R (Paris-Gare de Lyon). The station was designed by the architect François-Alexis Cendrier, one of many he worked on for the railroad company Chemins de fer de Paris à Lyon et à la Méditerranée. The station once benefited from a TGV journey to the Mediterranean Sea, with a train leaving for Marseille at 07.30 on a Saturday and returning on the Sunday evening, with a journey time is 4.30 hours. However, this is no longer the case.

The halte de Fontainebleau-Forêt is a railway halt on the Paris–Marseille railway line in the Forest of Fontainebleau, operated by SNCF. The service is limited to a few Transilien trains in the morning of Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays. The station is halfway between Bois-Le-Roi and Fontainebleau – Avon stations, some 4 km away.
