Fontainebleau–Avon station

Avon (French: [avɔ̃] ) is a commune in the Seine-et-Marne department in the Île-de-France region in north-central France.

ESIGETEL (École supérieure d'ingénieurs en informatique et génie des télécommunications) was founded in 1986 by the Melun Chamber of Commerce. Most students joining ESIGETEL follow the traditional path to the Grandes écoles and come from preparatory classes (two years) and graduate in three years. ESIGETEL is in the vicinity of Villejuif, France and is a member of the Polytechnicum of Marne la Vallée.

Fontainebleau, together with the neighbouring commune of Avon and three other smaller communes, form an urban area of 36,724 inhabitants (2018). This urban area is a satellite of Paris. Fontainebleau is renowned for the large and scenic forest of Fontainebleau, a favourite weekend getaway for Parisians, as well as for the historic Château de Fontainebleau, which once belonged to the kings of France. It is also the home of INSEAD, one of the world's most elite business schools. Inhabitants of Fontainebleau are sometimes called Bellifontains.

The Communauté de communes entre Seine et Forêt is a former federation of municipalities (communauté de communes) in the Seine-et-Marne département and in the Île-de-France région of France. It was created in December 2001. It was merged into the new Communauté d'agglomération du Pays de Fontainebleau in January 2017.

It was formed in January 2017 by the merger of the former Communauté de communes du pays de Fontainebleau, the Communauté de communes entre Seine et Forêt and several communes from other communities. Its area is 437.4 km2. Its population was 68,480 in 2018, of which 15,407 in Fontainebleau proper.

Palace of Fontainebleau ( FON-tin-bloh, US also -⁠bloo; French: Château de Fontainebleau [ʃɑto d(ə) fɔ̃tɛnblo]), located 55 kilometers (34 miles) southeast of the center of Paris, in the commune of Fontainebleau, is one of the largest French royal châteaux. The medieval castle and subsequent palace served as a residence for the French monarchs from Louis VII to Napoleon III. Francis I and Napoleon were the monarchs who had the most influence on the palace as it stands today. It became a national museum in 1927 and was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1981 for its unique architecture and historical importance.

The Centre hospitalier Sud Seine et Marne is a teaching hospital in Fontainebleau, Montereau-Fault-Yonne and Nemours. It is a teaching hospital of Paris-Est Créteil University.It is a result of the merger of three hospitals in each of the above cities.It was established in January 2017.

The Chinese Museum or musée chinois is a section of the Palace of Fontainebleau that keeps artifacts from Qing dynasty China, the Kingdom of Siam, and other Asian countries, including diplomatic gifts and plunder from the Second Opium War. Opened in 1863 by Empress Eugénie, it is one of the world's oldest museums specifically dedicated to Asian art.

The arrondissement of Fontainebleau is an arrondissement of France in the Seine-et-Marne department in the Île-de-France region. It has 85 communes. Its population is 155,817 (2019), and its area is 1,228.5 km2 (474.3 sq mi).

The halte de Fontainebleau-Forêt is a railway halt on the Paris–Marseille railway line in the Forest of Fontainebleau, operated by SNCF. The service is limited to a few Transilien trains in the morning of Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays. The station is halfway between Bois-Le-Roi and Fontainebleau – Avon stations, some 4 km away.
