Coppingford

Upton is a village and former civil parish, now in the parish of Upton and Coppingford, in the Huntingdonshire district, in the county of Cambridgeshire, England. It is near Coppingford north west of Huntingdon. In 1931 the parish had a population of 109. Upton has a church called St Margaret's Church which is grade II* listed.

Alconbury Weston – in Huntingdonshire (now part of Cambridgeshire), England – is a village and civil parish, lying just outside of the Fens, having just a few hills, but a significant change to the flat of the Fens. Alconbury Weston is situated 6.5 miles (10.5 km) north-west of Huntingdon.

Aversley Wood is a 62.3 hectares (154 acres) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest south-west of Sawtry in Cambridgeshire. It is owned and managed by the Woodland Trust.This wood is ash and maple on heavy clay soils, with much of it being ancient and having diverse flora and fauna as a result. Another area, which was probably cultivated until around 1350, has medieval ridge and furrow. It has a number of wild service trees, which are uncommon and an indicator of ancient woodland.There is access from Bullock Road.

Hamerton is a village in and former civil parish, now in the parish of Hamerton and Steeple Gidding, in Cambridgeshire, England. Hamerton lies approximately 8 miles (13 km) north-west of Huntingdon. Hamerton is situated within Huntingdonshire which is a non-metropolitan district of Cambridgeshire as well as being a historic county of England. Hamerton Zoo is on the north side of the village. The village has a church dedicated to All Saints. In 2001 the parish had a population of 87. The civil parish of Hamerton and Steeple Gidding incorporates the nearby hamlet of Steeple Gidding, which has a 14th-century church St Andrew's that is now redundant and preserved by the Churches Conservation Trust. Along with its nearby neighbour Great Gidding, Steeple Gidding forms part of a cluster of villages known as the Giddings.

Monks Wood is a 157-hectare (390-acre) National Nature Reserve north-west of Huntingdon in Cambridgeshire, and a Nature Conservation Review site, Grade I. A slightly more extensive area of 169.3 hectares (418 acres) is the Monks Wood and The Odd Quarter biological Site of Special Scientific Interest.The site is described by Natural England as one of Britain's most essential lowland woods. It is mainly of the wet ash-maple type, with a creamy shrub layer that was formerly coppiced. Trees include the rare wild service tree, particularly in The Odd Quarter. There is ground flora typical of ancient woodland, together with woodland rides, ponds, streams, and herb-rich grassland.Monks Wood was the site of an experimental biological research station of The Nature Conservancy from 1961 to 2009. The marsh tits in the wood have been the subject of several studies. Beginning in 1961, a 4-hectare (9.9-acre) former barley field next to the station was allowed to naturally regenerate as a rewilding experiment.There is access to Monks Wood from the road, which runs along its southern boundary. The Odd Quarter is private property with no public access.

Church of All Saints is a Grade II listed building located in Sawtry, a village in Huntingdonshire, Cambridgeshire, England. It became a listed building on 28 January 1958.Until the year 1880, there were two churches in Sawtry, All Saints' and St Andrew's. Both were demolished and the materials used in the erection of the new Church of All Saints. It was dedicated on 14 September 1880 by the Bishop of Ely. It is in the Early Decorated style, from designs by Arthur Blomfield, architect. It consists of a chancel and nave. A western turret contains one bell, formerly belonging to Sawtry Abbey. There is a brass in the church, with three effigies, dated April, 1404. In the chancel, there is a stained window. The register of All Saints dates from the year 1591; that of St Andrew's from the year 1662. To the left as you enter the churchyard is the War Memorial.

Huntingdon was a rural district in Huntingdonshire from 1894 to 1974, lying to the north and west of urban Huntingdon. It was formed in 1894 under the Local Government Act 1894 from the earlier Huntingdon rural sanitary district. It was expanded in 1935 by taking in most of the disbanded Thrapston Rural District and part of the Huntingdonshire segment of Oundle Rural District. In 1965 Huntingdonshire and the Soke of Peterborough merged to form Huntingdon and Peterborough. In 1974 the district was abolished under the Local Government Act 1972 and became part of the non-metropolitan district of Huntingdon, subsequently renamed Huntingdonshire.
