The Diocese of Murska Sobota (Latin: Dioecesis Sobotensis; Slovene: Škofija Murska Sobota) is a Latin Church diocese of the Catholic Church located in the city of Murska Sobota in the ecclesiastical province of Maribor in Slovenia.

Murska Sobota Cathedral (Slovene: Stolna cerkev sv. Nikolaja) is a Roman Catholic cathedral dedicated to Saint Nicholas in the town of Murska Sobota, Slovenia. It has been the episcopal seat of the diocese of Murska Sobota since the diocese was created in 2006. The site was originally occupied by Roman temples. The first church here was built of wood from 1071, shortly after the Hungarians who had settled here converted to Christianity. Murska Sobota developed into a religious centre during the Middle Ages. The mediaeval second cathedral of 1350 was replaced in 1912 by the present Neo-Romanesque building, which includes some decorative elements of the Jugendstil. Reinforced concrete was used in the construction. The four bells from the old cathedral were re-hung in the new belfry. In 1992 a new organ was installed, which, with 37 registers, is one of the biggest in the country.

Murska Sobota (pronounced [ˈmúːɾska ˈsóːbɔta] , Slovenian abbreviation: MS [məˈsə̀]; German: Olsnitz; Hungarian: Muraszombat) is a town in northeastern Slovenia. It is the centre of the Municipality of Murska Sobota near the Mura River in the region of Prekmurje and is the regional capital.

The Mura Statistical Region (Slovene: pomurska statistična regija) is a statistical region in northeast Slovenia. It is predominantly agricultural with field crops representing over three-quarters of the total agricultural area (twice as much as the Slovene average). Climate and soil combined have made it the region with the highest crop production, but its geographical position and inferior infrastructure put it at a disadvantage and it is the region of Slovenia with the lowest GDP per capita (EUR 12,267) and the highest rate of registered unemployment.

The Urban Municipality of Murska Sobota (pronounced [ˈmuːɾska ˈsoːbɔta]; Slovene: Mestna občina Murska Sobota) is one of twelve urban municipalities of Slovenia. It lies in northeastern Slovenia and was established in 1994. Its seat is the town of Murska Sobota. The area belongs to the traditional region of Prekmurje and has been included in the Mura Statistical Region since 1995.

Nogometna šola Mura (English: Mura Football School), commonly referred to as NŠ Mura or simply Mura, is a Slovenian football team, playing in the town of Murska Sobota. Founded in 2012, the team currently plays in the Slovenian PrvaLiga, the top tier of Slovenian football. The club's home ground is Fazanerija City Stadium with a capacity of 4,506 seats. The club started competing in the fourth tier of Slovenian football in 2013, and was promoted to the top flight by 2018. In 2020, Mura won its first major trophy after winning the Slovenian national cup. A year later, they became the champions of the Slovenian top division. Nicknamed the "Black and Whites" (Prekmurje Slovene: Čarno-bejli), they play their home games in black-and-white striped kits.

Fazanerija City Stadium (Slovene: Mestni stadion Fazanerija) is a multi-use stadium in Murska Sobota, Slovenia. It is currently used mostly for football matches and is the home ground of NŠ Mura. The stadium was built in 1936 and has a capacity of 4,506 seats. With the standing area included, the total capacity of the stadium is around 4,700.

Rakičan (pronounced [ɾaˈkiːtʃan]; Hungarian: Battyánfalva) is a village in the Municipality of Murska Sobota in the Prekmurje region of Slovenia.There is a Baroque mansion known as Rakičan Castle west of the main settlement. It stands in a large park and was originally a 17th-century castle with defences that was remodelled in the 18th century.

Martjanci (pronounced [maɾˈtjaːntsi]; Hungarian: Mártonhely) is a village between Murska Sobota and Moravske Toplice in the Prekmurje region of Slovenia.It is known for its parish church dedicated to Saint Martin, from which the village gets its name. It is a single-nave church built in 1392 on the site of an older church. The presbytery is vaulted and covered in frescos by the 14th-century local artist Johannes Aquila (fl. 1378–1392), who also painted the churches in Velemér, Turnišče, and Fürstenfeld. The paintings are signed and a self-portrait of the artist is included in the scheme. It is among the earliest European self-portraits. The main altar was created in marble in 1925 based on plans by the architect Jože Plečnik (1872–1957). The Martjanci hymnal (Slovene: Martjanska pesmarica) was compiled in Martjanci in a mixture of Prekmurje Slovene and Kajkavian dialect in the 16th and 17th centuries. This manuscript hymnal, kept at the university library in Maribor, is an exceptionally important literary monument because of its contents and the use of dialect, which influenced later transcriptions of Prekmurje folk songs.The writers Miklós Legén, Mihály Terplán, József Pusztai, and József Bagáry lived in the village.

Pušča (pronounced [ˈpuːʃtʃa]; locally Püšča) is a village in the Municipality of Murska Sobota in the Prekmurje region of northeastern Slovenia. It is a Romani village.
