Horsley is a suburb in Wollongong. It is the location of the new Dapto Primary school and a community centre. This suburb has expanded since 1999 and contains many newly developed houses.

Dombarton is a rural locality north west of Dapto in the Wollongong LGA, in the Illawarra region of New South Wales, Australia, located on the western side of Lake Illawarra. It is also known for the uncompleted Maldon – Dombarton railway line.

Horsley Homestead is a heritage-listed residence at Horsley Drive, Dapto, City of Wollongong, New South Wales, Australia. It was built from 1842 to 1909. The homestead has also previously served as a museum (1972-1985) and as a function venue (1985-1992). It was added to the New South Wales State Heritage Register on 4 August 2000.

Cleveland is a suburb of the City of Wollongong to the west of Dapto. At the 2016 census, it had a population of 21.The Geographical Names Board of New South Wales assigned the name of Cleveland to the suburb on 5 August 2005. The name was derived from a historical farmhouse, which was located in the southwest of the suburb. The City of Wollongong and the New South Wales government have developed plans over many years for suburban development in the area.

Huntley is a suburb of the City of Wollongong to the west of Dapto. At the 2016 census, it had a population of 50.The Geographical Names Board of New South Wales assigned the name of Huntley to the suburb on 5 August 2005. It had previously been called West Dapto or considered to be part of Avondale. It was named after a coal mine located within its boundary. The mine's name "Huntley" came from Huntly, a coal mining town in the North Island of New Zealand, which originally had this spelling. The original owners of the Huntley colliery, Illawarra Coal, had associations with the New Zealand mine.

Dapto High School is a government-funded co-educational comprehensive secondary day school, located in Dapto, a suburb of Wollongong in the Illawarra region of New South Wales, Australia. Established in 1958, the school enrolled approximately 900 students in 2018, from Year 7 to Year 12, of whom six percent identified as Indigenous Australians and nine percent were from a language background other than English. The school is operated by the New South Wales Department of Education; the principal is Joel Burnett.

Dapto is a suburb of Wollongong in the Illawarra region of New South Wales, Australia, located on the western side of Lake Illawarra and covering 7.15 square kilometres (2.76 sq mi). As at the 2016 census, the suburb had a population of 10,730.

Kanahooka High School is a government-funded co-educational comprehensive secondary day school, located in Kanahooka, 15 kilometres (9 mi) southwest of the city of Wollongong, in the Illawarra region of New South Wales, Australia. Established in 1974, the school enrolled for approximately 600 students in 2018, from Year 7 to Year 12, of whom 16 percent identified as Indigenous Australians and eight percent were from a language background other than English. The school is operated by the NSW Department of Education; the principal is Christine Toohey. Students are drawn from a catchment area that covers the southwestern part of the City of Wollongong.

Kanahooka is a southern suburb in Wollongong City Council. It has a few shops and a playground. Situated on Lake Illawarra is a Park with a playground. It has a public school (Hayes Park Public School) and a high school (Kanahooka High School).

Koonawarra is a suburb of Wollongong, New South Wales, Australia. It is located on the western shore of Lake Illawarra. Koonawarra, or Exmouth, as it was then called, was one of the first five land grants located in the Illawarra. It was a grant of 1300 acres made to Richard Brooks in 1817. The grant faced Lake Illawarra and extended from Brook's Creek to Mullet Creek. Koonawarra was the aboriginal name for the area. "Exmouth" was later secured by Henry Osborne and became part of his central Illawarra estate, extending from Macquarie Rivulet to Mullet Creek, and from Lake Illawarra to the mountains. The name Koonawarra is from the aboriginal word "Koonawarra” meaning "swan”
