Terhune-Ranlett House

Ho-Ho-Kus () is a borough in Bergen County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey. As of the 2020 United States census, the borough's population was 4,258, an increase of 180 (+4.4%) from the 2010 census count of 4,078, which in turn reflected an increase of 18 (+0.4%) from the 4,060 counted in the 2000 census. The borough is the home of several historical landmarks, including the Ho-Ho-Kus Inn and The Hermitage. Ho-Ho-Kus was incorporated as a borough by an act of the New Jersey Legislature on October 12, 1908, from what had originally been the borough of Orvil, which was in turn created on March 8, 1905, from portions of Orvil Township.As of the 2000 census, Ho-Ho-Kus was the 15th-wealthiest community in New Jersey with a per capita money income of $63,594 as of 1999, an increase of 36.9% from the $46,451 recorded in 1989. The borough's median household income was $165,827 in 2013. In 2011, New Jersey Monthly magazine named Ho-Ho-Kus the best place to live in the state of New Jersey, citing its affluence, low crime rate and the quality of its school system, as well as its proximity to New York City and other major commercial destinations.

The Terhune–Hopper House is located at 825 East Saddle River Road in the borough of Ho-Ho-Kus in Bergen County, New Jersey, United States. The historic stone house was built in 1790 and was added to the National Register of Historic Places on January 10, 1983, for its significance in architecture. It was listed as part of the Early Stone Houses of Bergen County Multiple Property Submission (MPS).According to the nomination form, the house may have built by Abraham Terhune, but more likely by his son, Albert Demarest Terhune. Hassel Garretson bought it in 1816, Peter D. Westervelt in 1839, and Jacob P. Hopper in 1854.

Stillwell-Preston House, also known as Riverwind (after the off-Broadway play of 1962), is located in Saddle River, Bergen County, New Jersey, United States. The house was built in 1800 and was added to the National Register of Historic Places on August 29, 1986. It began as a farmhouse. When improvements were made in the 1960s, square nails, handmade by a blacksmith, were removed from the walls. At one point, the house to the North on East Saddle River Road was once the carriage house for the estate and the house North of that was where the caretakers lived. Martin Block, host of the "Make Believe Ballroom--so, arguably, the first disk jockey--once lived there. It was actually even larger, with a wing having been knocked down in the 1950s. Once owned by a retired Navy captain, he painted most of the interior battleship gray, since he had the paint and "help" available. In the 1960s, the home was owned by Fred Pfister (who named it "Riverwind"). Fred had previously owned the equally historic Fell House in nearby Allendale, New Jersey. Fred died in July 1969 and his wake was held in the majestic 60-foot-long living room because of his deep love of this beautiful home. His family lived there until 1972. There are ten fireplaces, and those in the bedrooms were faced with carved marble imported from Italy.

The terminal is located on the northwest corner of the intersection of Oak Street and Dayton Street at Van Neste Square, approximately 820 feet (250 m) ESE of NJTransit's Ridgewood train station.

Ho-Ho-Kus School District is a community public school district located in Ho-Ho-Kus, New Jersey, United States, that serves students in pre-kindergarten through eighth grade.As of the 2020–21 school year, the district, comprised of one school, had an enrollment of 597 students and 49.7 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 12.0:1.The district is classified by the New Jersey Department of Education as being in District Factor Group "J", the highest of eight groupings. District Factor Groups organize districts statewide to allow comparison by common socioeconomic characteristics of the local districts. From lowest socioeconomic status to highest, the categories are A, B, CD, DE, FG, GH, I and J.Public school students in Ho-Ho-Kus for ninth through twelfth grades attend Northern Highlands Regional High School, which also serves students from Allendale, Upper Saddle River and some of Saddle River's students (who have the option of attending either Northern Highlands or Ramsey High School, as part of sending/receiving relationships with the two districts). In 2016, the Ho-Ho-Kus and Northern Highlands districts reached an agreement to extend the send / receive agreement through 2026 under a fixed-price contract by which Ho-Ho-Kus would pay $3.6 million for the 2016-17 school year, escalating by 2% a year to $4.3 million in 2025-26, regardless of the number of students from the borough sent to the high school. As of the 2020–21 school year, the high school had an enrollment of 1,364 students and 106.3 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 12.8:1.

The Ackerman–Demarest House is located at 605 East Saddle River Road in the borough of Ho-Ho-Kus in Bergen County, New Jersey, United States. The historic stone house was built in 1757, by tradition. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places on January 10, 1983, for its significance in architecture. It was listed as part of the Early Stone Houses of Bergen County Multiple Property Submission (MPS).According to the nomination form, William Cairns built a grist mill here in 1778. A house and mill are noted as Ackerman's Mill in 1780. Terhune is listed as the mill owner in 1791. B. S. Demarest owned the house by 1861.

The Laurance Thomas Van Buskirk House is located at 116 East Saddle River Road in the borough of Saddle River in Bergen County, New Jersey, United States. The historic stone house was built around 1740 and was added to the National Register of Historic Places on January 10, 1983, for its significance in architecture and exploration/settlement. It was listed as part of the Early Stone Houses of Bergen County Multiple Property Submission (MPS) and the Saddle River MPS. According to the nomination form, a son of Van Buskirk likely built the house. It is now used as a guest house for a larger mansion built nearby.

The John A. L. Zabriskie House, also known as the Zabriskie–Schedler House, is located at 460 West Saddle River Road in the village of Ridgewood in Bergen County, New Jersey, United States. The historic frame house was built around 1825 and was added to the National Register of Historic Places on November 22, 2019, for its significance in architecture.John A. L. Zabriskie was a farmer. After his death in 1864, his son, James Zabriskie, inherited the property. It was later purchased by the Smith family in 1908. Florence Schedler, daughter of Carman Smith, lived here until her death in 2007. The village purchased the property in 2009, with plans to use it as a public park.

Hopper House, is located in Saddle River, Bergen County, New Jersey, United States. The house was added to the National Register of Historic Places on July 24, 1984.

Paramus Reformed Church Historic District is a historic district bounded by Franklin Turnpike, Route 17, Saddle River, south side of Valleau Cemetery, and E Glen Avenue in Ridgewood, Bergen County, New Jersey, United States. The congregation was established in 1725 by Dutch settlers. The stone church was built in 1800, replacing an earlier building from 1735 and using the bricks of the old church. The district was added to the National Register of Historic Places on February 25, 1975. The church also has a small gated cemetery with graves of Dutch ancestors and a path that leads to a nearby residential street. The church was used as a hospital, barrack and prison in the Revolutionary War. The church is currently still in use. On November 16 and December 26, 2014, Joseph Galli of Somerville allegedly used a high powered AR-15 rifle to shoot inside the church. This led to the breaking of a stained glass window dating back to 1875. Him and Alexander Norell were charged with more than $2,000 in property damage and indicted for gun charges with an assault rifle.
