Mount Pleasant is an underground light rail transit (LRT) station under construction on Line 5 Eglinton, a new line that is part of the Toronto subway system. The station will be located in North Toronto at the intersection of Mount Pleasant Road and Eglinton Avenue. Nearby destinations include Northern Secondary School and the Davisville Village neighbourhood. It is scheduled to open in 2023.

Spectrum Alternative School is an alternative education middle school of Toronto's Mount Pleasant west district that was established in 1978. Its original teachers included Ellen Dorfman, Brian Taylor, and David Clyne who all came from Deer Park Senior Public school in a program called Spectrum. It was the first alternative school for grade 7 and 8 students. The school was proposed in 1978 but was strongly opposed by the Toronto Area 6 superintendent. Due to intense parental lobbying of the TDSB the school was later created. Its original ethos was inspired by schools such as the Summerhill school and was taught in a democratic fashion. The program focused on highly motivated students who wished to work independently. Original goals of the school included: -Small group instruction -Individualized goal-setting and evaluation -Guest speakers, field trips and community projects -Art, music and art exhibits -Mock Parliament and simulations -Literary and arts magazine -Community Fund raising Originally sharing the building with Eglinton PS the school moved to Davisville Public School at 43 Millwood Rd, Toronto in 2011, and as such the school is directed by the same principal. Its current alternative status arises largely from the small and intimate class sizes, which are represented by about 30 students per the two grades. Although Spectrum Alternative is a public school within the TDSB, prospective students must undergo an application process to be admitted. Spectrum Four teachers deliver the curriculum, while encouraging close relationships among students, and between students and teachers. Subjects are delivered in large blocks of time. Independent studies, special projects and hands-on-learning form much of the curriculum. Over the recent years the school has adopted an art-focus.

North Toronto is a former town and informal district located in the northern part of the Old Toronto district in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Currently occupying a geographically central location within the city of Toronto, the Town of North Toronto was incorporated in 1890, when much of the area was still farmland, and annexed by Toronto in 1912. The name is still used to refer to the area in general, although Yonge–Eglinton and Midtown Toronto are officially used. The former town was bounded on the south by Moore Avenue east to Bayview Avenue, north to Eglinton Avenue, west to Bruce, north to Fairfield, west to the west boundary of Mount Hope Cemetery, then north to north of Glen Echo, west to Yonge, north to north of McNairn Avenue, then west to a line just west of Elm Road. The boundary continues south to just north of Glenview Avenue and Avenue Road, then west to a line with Proudfoot Avenue, then south to just north of Briar Hill, then south on Castlewood to Roselawn, then south on Latimer to Eglinton Avenue. The boundary continues east on Eglinton to Elmsthorpe, then south to the former rail line south of Chaplin Crescent, then east to Yonge.

Northern Secondary School (often referred to as Northern Secondary, Northern, or NSS) is a public high school in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It teaches grades 9 through 12. It is a part of the Toronto District School Board (TDSB). Prior to Amalgamation of Toronto in 1998, it was within the Toronto Board of Education (TBE). The closest TTC subway station is Eglinton. Northern has long-standing rivalries with nearby high-school North Toronto Collegiate Institute and also with Central Technical School, Lawrence Park Collegiate Institute, York Mills Collegiate Institute and Leaside High School.

The Kitchen Library was the first non-profit lending library of kitchen appliances in Canada. Since opening its doors inside the Toronto Tool Library in October 2013, The Kitchen Library received local, national, and international media attention and community support. The Kitchen Library moved to Yonge and Eglinton (inside Living City Health) in October 2014 where they lent appliances and taught workshops. It closed September 1, 2016.As population increases and the average size of condos decrease, they believed that space and income shouldn't be barriers to cooking and healthy eating. By providing access to otherwise costly and space-consuming appliances they built a more shareable city for the future. In 2014 they were named by Canadian Living as one of the "7 Canadian inventions that make your life better," and were featured in Toronto Life, The Toronto Star, The National Post, and CBC News.

Davisville Village is an area of Toronto near the intersection of Davisville Avenue and Yonge Street. There is a subway station named Davisville at this intersection. The area directly abuts Mount Pleasant Cemetery, and has many massive apartment and condominium complexes built between the 1970s and the 2000s, as well as a number of office buildings. The area is an attractive area in Midtown Toronto between St Clair and Eglinton. Davisville Village is represented at Toronto City Council by Councillor Josh Matlow.

Toronto Prep School is a Grade 7 through 12, coeducational, private, day school situated on an urban campus in the heart of Toronto near Mount Pleasant Road and Davisville Ave. The school is accredited by the Ontario Ministry of Education. The total enrollment for 2019-20 was 450 students, Grades 7–12.

The Municipality of Metropolitan Toronto was an upper-tier level of municipal government in Ontario, Canada, from 1953 to 1998. North Toronto Collegiate Institute (North Toronto CI, NTCI, NT, or North Toronto) is a non-semestered, public high school institution with over 1,200 students located in North Toronto area of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The school is operated and governed by the Toronto District School Board. From its founding until 1998, it was overseen by the Toronto Board of Education. The school is located in Midtown Toronto in the Yonge and Eglinton neighbourhood. The majority of students come from the surrounding Chaplin estates, Lytton Park, Mount Pleasant, Davisville Village, Bayview Avenue, Moore Park, Lawrence Park, Broadway Avenue and St. Clair Avenue areas (which are typically middle-to-high income earning areas). Most students have North Toronto C.I. as their home school. However, the school still employs a lottery system for students looking to enter from out of district. The closest TTC subway station is Eglinton station. Their motto is "Labor Omnia Vincit" which means Work conquers all. North Toronto CI celebrated its 100th anniversary in May 2012.
