Maksimir Park

Maksimir (pronounced [mǎksimiːr]) is one of the districts of Zagreb, Croatia, population 48,902 (2011 census). Maksimir stadium and Maksimir Park are located in it. It was named for Bishop Maksimilijan Vrhovac. The urban center of the Maksimir district is located around the Maksimirska street, which is an area of dense commercial and residential usage. It spans from the Kvaternik Square, located on the southwestern border of the district, to the intersection of Maksimirska, Bukovačka and Svetice streets, which leads to the entrances to both the Maksimir park and the Maksimir stadium. The southeastern part of the district is a lowland that includes the Maksimir stadium and a large residential area best known as Ravnice (lit. "plains"). A substantial area in the east of the district is part of the Maksimir Park, one of the biggest parks in Zagreb. It also contains the Zagreb Zoo, which is the second-largest in Croatia; and five lakes, called the Maksimir lakes. The central part of the district is mostly residential, with the notable exception of the large campus of the University Hospital Centre Zagreb. The northern parts of the district are hilly, residential areas, with no high-rise buildings. The district is bordered by Gornji Grad - Medveščak to the east, Donji grad to the southeast, Pešćenica to the south, Dubrava to the west, and Podsljeme to the north.

Zagreb Zoo (Croatian: Zoološki vrt Grada Zagreba) is a 7-hectare (17-acre) zoo located within Maksimir Park in Zagreb, Croatia and is across the street from Zagreb's Maksimir Stadium. It is one of three zoo parks in the country. Zagreb Zoo is a member of both the European and the World Association of Zoos and Aquariums and is a participant in the European Endangered Species Programme.

Maksimir Stadium (Croatian: Stadion Maksimir, pronounced [ˈstâdioːn mǎksimiːr]) is a multi-use stadium in Zagreb, Croatia. It takes its name from the surrounding neighbourhood of Maksimir. The venue is primarily the home of Dinamo Zagreb, the top club of the country with 22 league titles, but it is also the home venue of the Croatia national football team. First opened in 1912, it has undergone many revamps, and its current layout dates from a 1997 rebuilding. The stadium also sometimes hosts other events such as rock concerts.

Bukovac is a neighbourhood in the northeast of Zagreb, Croatia, within the Maksimir district. The area of the local city council of Bukovac has a population of 6,658 (census 2021). The area was integrated into the city of Zagreb in the latter half of the 20th century. The neighbourhood encompasses the Bukovac street, while the nearby Bukovačka street (adjectival form of Bukovac) is instead part of the local councils of Maksimir and Remete.

Ravnice is a neighbourhood in the northeast of Zagreb, Croatia, within the Maksimir district. The area of the local city council of Maksimirska naselja (lit. 'the settlements of Maksimir') has a population of 8,308 (census 2021). The area is a lowland south of the Maksimir Park. It includes the area of the Zagreb Zoo and the Maksimir Stadium.

Gojko Šušak Avenue (Croatian: Avenija Gojka Šuška) is an avenue in northeastern Zagreb, Croatia. It serves as part of the boundary between city districts Maksimir and Gornja Dubrava. Spanning between Štefanovec Road and Dubrava Avenue, the avenue has four lanes and a parking lot along its western side. Its most important intersection is with Oporovečka Road. At its southern end, the road continues as the short four-lane Mandlova Road. Some of the most important buildings in Zagreb are located on the Avenue. In particular, Clinical Hospital Dubrava (also referred to as Nova bolnica, New hospital), located on its eastern side, and the Police Academy, located on the western side. The avenue north of the busy Oporovečka Road is underused, but there are projects to make it a part of the inner city ring road and extend it to the route of the planned northern arm of Zagreb bypass. The avenue is named after Gojko Šušak, the late Croatian Minister of Defense. Before Šušak's death it was named Scout Alley (Croatian: Aleja izviđača).

The University Hospital Centre (sometimes also Clinical Hospital Centre, Croatian: Klinički bolnički centar Zagreb, KBC) in Zagreb, Croatia, is the largest hospital in Croatia and the teaching hospital of the University of Zagreb. It serves most of Central and Northern Croatia for specialist and acute medical procedures. The average waiting time for outpatient treatment is approximately 5 months and it should be booked in advance either by mail, email or telefax. The main hospital campus is located in Kišpatićeva street in Maksimir, and is colloquially known as "Rebro". Another major campus is located at Šalata, in immediate vicinity to the School of Medicine, University of Zagreb. Currently the hospital center also operates three other locations - the obstetrics facility at Petrova street, the rehabilitation facility at Božidarevićeva street and the dental department at Gundulićeva street. The University Hospital Centre Zagreb is a publicly funded teaching hospital providing general and advanced medical care. With over ~1800 beds and 5470 employees It is the largest and most advanced medical facility in Croatia.The hospital is one of the few gamma knife treatment centers in Europe.

Clinical Hospital Dubrava (Croatian: Klinička bolnica Dubrava) is a public teaching hospital in Zagreb, Croatia.

Fifteenth Gymnasium (Croatian: XV. gimnazija, Petnaesta gimnazija), previously called, and still better known as MIOC (Matematičko informatički obrazovni centar; Mathematical Informatical Educational Center) is a public high school in Zagreb, Croatia. It specializes in mathematics and computer science.

International Graduate Business School (IGBS) Zagreb is designed to meet the need for management education in Croatia and the region. IGBS Zagreb offers dual MBA/M.Sc. degree in partnership with Kelley School of Business, Indiana University. A Croatian public research centre in the field of economics, The Institute of Economics, Zagreb, founded IGBS Zagreb as a private business school in 2003 with support of a grant from U.S. Department of State.

Borongaj is a neighborhood the Peščenica – Žitnjak district of Zagreb, Croatia. It is situated south of the main railway along Branimir Avenue and east of Donje Svetice Road. It is the location of the former Borongaj Airfield. For administrative purposes, Borongaj is part of the "Bruno Bušić" local committee. It covers an area of 68.7 hectares (170 acres), and it is populated by 4,571 inhabitants (2011).

Third Gymnasium (Croatian: III. gimnazija, Treća gimnazija) is a high school in Zagreb, Croatia. After the school year 2023/24, 138 graduates of this gymnasium enrolled at an institution of higher learning in Croatia, or 92% of students who took up the nationwide Matura exams. The most common destinations for these students were the University of Zagreb faculties of electrical engineering and computing, economics, civil engineering, law, and science.
