Pine Knob

Pine Knob Music Theatre (formerly DTE Energy Music Theatre) is an outdoor amphitheater located in Independence Township, Michigan, approximately 40 miles (64 km) northwest of Detroit (it has a Clarkston, Michigan mailing address). Built by the Nederlander Organization in the early 1970s, it is known as "Pine Knob Music Theatre" due to its proximity to the nearby Pine Knob ski area and golf course. Palace Sports & Entertainment, which owns the Detroit Pistons, purchased the amphitheater in 1990. 313 Presents promotes and produces concerts at the venue, in addition to five other venues across southesast Michigan, including Little Caesars Arena, Fox Theatre, Comerica Park, Meadow Brook Amphitheatre and Michigan Lottery Amphitheatre. Annually, Pine Knob ranks among the top-selling outdoor concert venues in the world and has won dozens of awards in the industry, including Pollstar's Best Major Outdoor Concert Venue (2000), Billboard's Top Amphitheater for attendance (2011) and Pollstar's Top Amphitheater Venue Worldwide for total tickets sold (2011, 2019, 2022).

Independence Township is a charter township of Oakland County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 36,686 at the 2020 census.Independence Township was first organized in 1834. The township surrounds the city of Clarkston, but the two are administered autonomously after Clarkston incorporated as a city in 1992. The township is home to the Pine Knob Music Theatre and the Pine Knob Ski Resort.

Michigan's 19th congressional district is an obsolete United States congressional district in Michigan. The first candidate elected from the newly created district was Billie S. Farnum in 1964. It was eliminated as a result of the redistricting cycle after the 1980 census. The last representative from the district, William Broomfield, was subsequently elected from the 18th district after dissolution of this district.

Sashabaw Presbyterian Church is a historic church located at 5331 Maybee Road near Clarkston, Michigan. The church is one of the oldest in the Detroit Presbytery and has served congregations for nearly 150 years. It was designated a Michigan State Historic Site in 1964 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.

Clarkston High School is a public high school located in Independence Township, Michigan. It is the only high school in the Clarkston Community Schools.

Everest Collegiate High School and Academy is a private, Roman Catholic PK-12 college-preparatory school offering co-ed education for pre-school through grade 2, and gender-specific education for grades 3 to high school on a 90-acre (360,000 m2) campus, in Independence Township, Michigan, United States, near Clarkston. The high school opened to 9th grade students in 2008 and students can enroll in 3 year old pre-school through 12th grade for the 2017-2018 school year. It is located within the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Detroit. In 2012 and 2014, it was named one of the top 50 Catholic High Schools by the Cardinal Newman Society. In 2016, it was named a National Blue Ribbon School by the U.S. Department of Education Everest was recognized as a 2016 National Blue Ribbon School by the U.S. Department of Education in the Exemplary High Performing Schools category.

Walters Lake is a 77-acre (31 ha), 21-foot (6.4 m) deep lake.The lake lies within Independence Township in Oakland County, Michigan.Walters Lake is north and east of Clarkston Road, and north of Clintonville Road. Walters Lake connects upstream with Heather Lake.

Spring Lake is a lake located along Maybee Road at an elevation of 863 feet (263 m).The lake, with a depth of 15 feet, lies within Independence Township in Oakland County, Michigan.

Whipple Lake is an all-sports, 75-acre lake along the Clinton River. The lake lies entirely within Independence Township in Oakland County, Michigan. Whipple Lake is located east of Independence Oaks County Park, west of Pine Knob Road, north of Stickney Road, and south of Oak Hill Road. Whipple Lake Road is east of the lake. Whipple Lake connects downstream to 30-acre Crooked Lake and to seven-acre Dark Lake to the northeast.

Woodhull Lake is a 135-acre (55 ha) all-sports lake located in central Oakland County, Michigan. The lake has a maximum depth of 56 feet (17 m). It is located in both Waterford Township and Independence Township.Woodhull Lake is located on the upper reaches of the Clinton River watershed. The Clinton River enters Woodhull Lake on the west end and exits on the north end. Approximately three-quarters of a mile upstream is the dam for Van Norman Lake, the next lake upstream. The Clinton River between these two lakes is wide with slow flow. Also upstream is the 26-acre Townsend Lake.Downstream from Woodhull Lake, it is connected to Lake Oakland. There is a dam on Lake Oakland and both Lake Oakland and Woodhull Lake have a legal established lake level elevation of 957.43 feet (291.82 m).On the southeast side of Woodhull Lake, there is a connection to Eagle Lake, a small, 19-acre (7.7 ha), 20-foot (6.1 m) deep lake which flows into Woodhull Lake.

Oakland Lake is a 255-acre (103 ha) lake located in central Oakland County in both Waterford Township and Independence Township.There are several basins in the lake, reaching 25 feet (7.6 m), 27 feet (8.2 m), and the deepest being 64 feet (20 m), with all three basins having relatively steep side slopes. There are a number of shallow bays on the lake that are less than five-feet deep and several small islands.Originally called Pond Lake, Oakland Lake is located on the upper reaches of the Clinton River watershed. The Clinton River enters Oakland Lake on the west end through a short, wide connection to Woodhull Lake immediately upstream. The Clinton River exits on the southeast end where there are two dams that regulate water level. Both Oakland and Woodhull lakes have a legal established lake level elevation of 957.43. A short distance downstream of Oakland Lake, the Clinton River enters into Schoolhouse Lake and Loon Lake. Near the central portion of Oakland Lake and to the south, a short, shallow connection leads to Leggets Lake, which is a small (25 acres), shallow (10 feet) lake.

Crooked Lake is a 68-acre lake along the Clinton River. The lake, with a maximum depth of 65 feet, lies within Independence Township in Oakland County, Michigan.The lake is located west of Sashabaw Road and south of Shappie Road. Crooked Lake connects upstream to Upper Bushman Lake Crooked Lake was formerly named Lower Bushman Lake.
