Wiener Neustadt Cathedral, or the Cathedral of the Assumption of Mary and St. Rupert (German: Wiener Neustädter Dom; Dom Mariä Himmelfahrt und Sankt Rupert), is a Catholic church located in Wiener Neustadt, Austria. Now a parish church, it was previously the cathedral of the diocese of Wiener Neustadt between 1468 and 1785, the year of the suppression of the diocese. The location and orientation of the building were selected and designed in the Middle Ages. The nave faces north and west in alignment with sunrise on the day of Pentecost on May 24, 1192, when Duke Leopold V was invested by Emperor Henry VI. In 1207 the construction of the Romanesque church began. It was consecrated in 1279. From 1588 to 1630, Melchor Klesl was the administrator of the diocese, and built the first Baroque pulpit. The Baroque altar with the altarpiece of the Assumption of Mary by Giandomenico Cignaroli was fitted in 1776. In 1886 the westwork and its towers were demolished because of damage from an earthquake; they were later rebuilt under the direction of the Viennese architect Richard Jordan. On March 6, 2012, a fire affected the cathedral, which was closed for six months to allow for repairs.

St. Peter an der Sperr was a Dominican convent church in Wiener Neustadt in Austria. The church building is now used as an exhibition space. The convent building now houses a museum. In August 2016, during excavations in the run-up to planned conversion work for the 2019 Lower Austrian State Exhibition, archaeologists came across two medieval graves.

Immediately exempt to the Holy See, it provides pastoral care to Catholics serving in the Austrian Armed Forces and their families.

St. George's Cathedral in Wiener Neustadt (German: Kathedrale St. Georg) is the cathedral of the Military Ordinariate of Austria and a minor basilica. It is located inside the castle, Burg Wiener Neustadt.The church, begun in 1440 on the west side of the castle, was commissioned from the architect Peter von Pusica by Frederick III, Holy Roman Emperor. At the end of the work the church was dedicated to St. Mary and consecrated in 1460. In 1479 the Order of the Knights of St. George established their headquarters in Wiener Neustadt, and the patron of the church became Saint George. After the abolition of this chivalric order in 1600, the church was entrusted first to the Cistercians and later the Piarists. In 1608 and 1616 two fires damaged the castle and the church, which were repaired by initiative of Maximilian III.With the foundation of the Theresian Military Academy on December 14, 1751, the church was closely tied to the fate of the castle as the headquarters of the military school. The castle and church were completely destroyed in bombing during the Second World War on March 12, 1945, but reconstruction began the following year, to be completed only in 1958.Since 1963 the church has been home to the Military Ordinariate of Austria, as a result of which it was elevated to the status of cathedral. On 13 December 1967 it also became a minor basilica.

The Theresian Military Academy (German: Theresianische Militärakademie, TherMilAk) is a military academy in Austria, where the Austrian Armed Forces train their officers. Founded in 1751, the academy is located in the castle of Wiener Neustadt in Lower Austria.

Daun Barracks in Wiener Neustadt in Lower Austria was built by the German Wehrmacht from 1939 to 1940 as a course building in the Academy Park south of the castle.

The siege of Wiener Neustad, part of the Austrian–Hungarian War, was an assault from January 1486 to August 1487 on the Austrian town of Wiener Neustadt. Launched by Matthias Corvinus, King of Hungary, the 18-month siege ended with the town's surrender and allowed Hungary to take control of the surrounding regions of Styria and Lower Austria. It was the last of a series of sieges, and followed Hungary's victory in the 1485 Siege of Vienna. The broader war ended less than a year later with an armistice in 1488.

Raxwerke or Rax-Werke was a facility of the Wiener Neustädter Lokomotivfabrik at Wiener Neustadt in Lower Austria. During World War II, the company also produced lamps for Panzer tanks and anti-aircraft guns. Two Raxwerke plants employed several thousand forced laborers from the Mauthausen-Gusen concentration camp (on 20 June 1943 Mauthausen delivered ~500 prisoners to the Rax-Werke).: 189
