ABC Region

Santo André (Portuguese pronunciation: [sɐ̃twɐ̃ˈdɾɛ], Saint Andrew) is a Brazilian municipality located in the Metropolitan Region of São Paulo. It is part of a group of municipalities known as the ABC Region. According to the most recent census, the population is estimated at 721,368 (2020 est.) in an area of 175.8 km². or about 43,441 Acres of landmass. It is the 15th most developed Brazilian city, and the eighth most developed city in the State of São Paulo, according to the UN. The city is also known to be the fifth best city in the country to raise children on the grounds of public and private education and health care.

The Sabina School Park of Knowledge (Portuguese: Sabina Escola Parque do Conhecimento) is a science museum in Santo André, São Paulo, Brazil. Other planetaria in Greater São Paulo include Professor Aristóteles Orsini Planetarium and Carmo Planetarium.

Prefeito Celso Daniel–Santo André, or informally known only as Santo André, is a train station on CPTM Line 10 (Turquoise), in the city of Santo André.

ETEC Lauro Gomes, formerly known as ETE Lauro Gomes, ETI Lauro Gomes and Escola Técnica Industrial de São Bernardo do Campo is an educational facility located in São Bernardo do Campo, SP, Brazil. It offers secondary education and vocational education classes. It is named after Lauro Gomes de Almeida, mayor for São Bernardo do Campo between 1952 and 1954 and 1960 to 1963. ETEC Lauro Gomes is adjoined to São Paulo Technical School System, conducted by CEETEPS (Centro Estadual de Educação Tecnológica Paula Souza), an independent government body designed to govern technical schools and faculties in São Paulo.

Federal University of ABC (Portuguese: Universidade Federal do ABC, UFABC) is a Brazilian federal public institution of higher learning based in Santo André and São Bernardo do Campo, municipalities belonging to the ABC region, both in the state of São Paulo. UFABC is the only federal university in Brazil with 100% of its professors holding PhDs and, for the second consecutive year in 2011, emerged as the only university in Brazil with impact factor in scientific publications above the world average according to SCImago Institutions Rankings. The institution was evaluated by the General Course Index (IGC) of the Ministry of Education (MEC) as the best university in the State of São Paulo, being rated as the 1st in the ranking of undergraduate courses among all universities in Brazil. The IGC takes into account in its assessment factors such as infrastructure, faculty and graduates' scores in the National Student Performance Exam (ENADE). It occupies the 1st place among Brazilian universities in the "Internationalization" item in the University Ranking of the Folha de São Paulo newspaper.The chairman of the committee that formulated the proposal of the university was Luiz Bevilacqua, who became its second rector.

The Cidade da Criança (Children's City) is a Brazilian amusement park located in the center of São Bernardo do Campo, in the metropolitan region of São Paulo, behind the former Vera Cruz Film Studios. It was the first theme park in Brazil and in Latin America. It opened on October 10, 1968.It was divided into three themed areas. One of the themes is the Amazon, containing a replica of the Amazon Theatre, the Madeira-Mamoré Railroad and several other characteristic figures of the region. Among its most famous attractions, is a replica of a submarine (with 2.75 million liters of water that was the first of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere and the third overall park with this attraction), a plane, the Minhocão (roller coaster), the Casa Maluca (Crazy House), among others.The park was built in the 1950s as a studio for recording the soap opera Redenção, from TV Excelsior. Even after the end of the soap opera in 1968, visits by the public to the city continued. This was also the first Brazilian film city.The land and area built for the recording of the soap opera Redenção were listed by the Municipal Council of Historical and Cultural Heritage in 1990.

The Estádio Bruno José Daniel, sometimes called Brunão or Estádio Municipal Bruno José Daniel, is a football stadium in Santo André, São Paulo state. The stadium, which opened on December 14, 1969, has a maximum capacity of 18,000 people. It is owned by the City Hall of Santo André, and is the home of Santo André. Its formal name honors Bruno José Daniel, who was mayor of Santo André at the time of the stadium's construction.

São Caetano do Sul (or São Caetano) (Saint Cajetan of the South. Portuguese pronunciation: [sɐ̃w kajˈtɐnu du ˈsuw]) is a city in São Paulo state in Brazil. It is part of the Metropolitan Region of São Paulo. The population is 161,957 (2020 est.) in an area of 15.33 km2. It is the city with the highest per capita income in Brazil (US$31,322.00 in 2010) and it also has the highest Human Development Index. It is intensely conurbated with São Paulo, Santo André and São Bernardo do Campo, causing the physical limits between cities to be lost. São Caetano do Sul, together with Ferraz de Vasconcelos, is one of two cities in the state of São Paulo that are not crossed by any state or federal highway.

São Bernardo do Campo (Portuguese pronunciation: [sɐ̃w beʁˈnaʁdu du ˈkɐ̃pu]) is a Brazilian municipality in the state of São Paulo. It is part of the Metropolitan Region of São Paulo. The population is 844,483 (2020 est.) in an area of 409.51 km2 (158.11 sq mi).

Estádio 1º de Maio is a football stadium in the centre of São Bernardo do Campo, Brazil, which is the home of São Bernardo. With a capacity of 15,159 it is the second-largest football stadium in the ABC region, behind Estádio Anacleto Campanella. Currently the capacity is limited to 12,578 since part of the South Stand is closed for renovation.The stadium is perhaps best known as the site of multiple massive trade union rallies between 1979 and 1980, led by Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. It is named after the International Workers' Day and the date of a significant rally held at the stadium in 1980, which involved over 150,000 workers on strike. 1º de Maio's record attendance was recorded in 2011, when 15,159 spectators watched a Campeonato Paulista fixture between São Bernardo and Corinthians, which ended in a 2–2 tie.
