The Center for Research and Advanced Studies of the National Polytechnic Institute (in Spanish: Centro de Investigación y de Estudios Avanzados del Instituto Politécnico Nacional or simply as CINVESTAV-IPN) is a Mexican non-governmental scientific research institution affiliated with the National Polytechnic Institute and founded by president Adolfo López Mateos on 17 April 1961, initially planned as a postgraduate department of the National Polytechnic Institute; this was later modified by President José López Portillo, on 17 September 1982.The modification by President Portillo stipulates that it is a decentralized organ of public interest, with legal personality and own patrimony. Cinvestav receives an annual subsidy by the Federal Government to fund its operations.

Estadio Wilfrido Massieu is an outdoor stadium located north of Mexico City, within the "Adolfo Lopez Mateos" campus of the National Polytechnic Institute (IPN). It was built in 1959 and has a capacity of 15,000 spectators. The stadium is the home field of the IPN's college football teams: the Águilas Blancas and Burros Blancos .The stadium was primarily used for American football until 2000, when it was vetoed from American football events by damages in its structure. However, in 2015 it was announced that the stadium will again host American football matches.Currently, the stadium is also used by the Mayas of the Liga de Fútbol Americano Profesional.

Indios Verdes (Spanish pronunciation ; Spanish lit. transl. "Green Indians") is a station of the Mexico City Metro along Insurgentes Norte Avenue in the colonias (neighborhoods) of Residencial Zacatenco and Santa Isabel Tola, in Gustavo A. Madero, Mexico City. It is an at-grade station with two island platforms that serves as the northern terminus of Line 3 (the Olive Line). It is followed by Deportivo 18 de Marzo station. The station and its surrounding area are named this way because of the verdigris statues of Itzcoatl and Ahuitzotl, both Aztec rulers. They are located in Mestizaje Park and are collectively known as the Monumento a los Indios Verdes; the statues are featured in the pictogram. The station was opened on 1 December 1979, on the first day of service between Indios Verdes and Hospital General stations. The station facilities are partially accessible for people with disabilities as there are tactile pavings and braille signage plates. In 2019, the station had an average daily ridership of 107,376 passengers, making it the 3rd busiest station in the system and the busiest of the line.

The National Polytechnic Institute of Mexico (Spanish: Instituto Politécnico Nacional de México; Spanish pronunciation: [instiˈtuto poliˈtekniko nasjoˈnal] (listen)), abbreviated IPN, is one of the largest public universities in Mexico with 171,581 students at the high school, undergraduate and postgraduate levels. It is the second-best university in Mexico in the technical and engineering domain according to the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2018. It was founded on 1 January 1936 during the administration of President Lázaro Cárdenas del Río.The institute consists of 98 academic units offering 293 courses of study. It includes 78 technical careers, 80 undergraduate and 135 postgraduate programs. Its main campus, called 'Unidad Profesional Adolfo López Mateos' or 'Zacatenco', is on approximately 530 acres (2.1 km2) north of Mexico City.The IPN is based primarily in Mexico City, but with several research institutes and facilities distributed over 22 states.

Planetario Luis Enrique Erro is a planetarium located in Mexico City, owned and operated by the National Polytechnic Institute. It was the first planetarium in Mexico open to the public and is one of the oldest in Latin America. It was opened in 1967 and operated for over 39 years with a planetarium projector model Mark 4. It was reopened to the public on 15 January 2007 after renovation and modernization costing about 43 million pesos. Its innovations include a stellar dome and new digital projection systems Digistar 3 provided by E&S through Ecosistemas de México, audio, acoustics and lighting.

El Tepeyac National Park is one of a number of federally recognized national parks in Mexico that are protected natural areas and administered by the federal National Commission of Protected Natural Areas (CONANP), a subsidiary of SEMARNAT (Ministry of Environment). It is one of the few green areas located north of the Mexico City suburbs. 95% of its territory is located in Gustavo A. Madero, D.F. Borough and 5% in the municipality of Tlalnepantla de Baz.This is one of the large expanses of artificial forest of eucalyptus and was reforested in the first half of the 20th century in the Federal District. The designated territory for the National Park is the Tepeyac Hill, place known for the legend of the apparition of the Virgin of Guadalupe to the indigenous Juan Diego. From the top of the hill a whole view of the Valley of Mexico can be seen. However, this place is threatened by the urban sprawl growing in the surroundings. This park covers part of the Sierra de Guadalupe mountain range and was created through a decree issued on February 18, 1937. Originally it had an extension of 1,500 ha. Even though several other authors indicate different current numbers depending on the type of topographic study applied. 56% of the park is legally an "ejido" and the 44% left is privately owned.Because once the territory had a completely lack of vegetation and was restored after reforestation activities, by decrees issued in 1926, 1937 and 1972, El Tepeyac is now considered a protected National Park under reforestation programs of Local and Federal administration.

San Juan Ixhuatepec is a town located in the municipality of Tlalnepantla de Baz, in the centre of the State of Mexico. The population is 353,300. The name of Ixhuatepec means "place in the leaves hill" in the Nahuatl language.

The San Juanico disaster was an industrial disaster caused by a massive series of explosions at a liquid petroleum gas (LPG) tank farm in San Juanico, Tlalnepantla de Baz, Mexico (outside of Mexico City, Mexico) on 19 November 1984. The explosions consumed 11,000 m3 of LPG, representing one third of Mexico City's entire liquid petroleum gas supply. The explosions destroyed the facility and devastated the local town of San Juan Ixhuatepec, with 500–600 people killed, and 5000–7000 others suffering severe burns. The San Juanico disaster was one of the deadliest industrial disasters in world history.

The High School of Computer Sciences (in Spanish: Escuela Superior de Cómputo or ESCOM) is a High school of the National Polytechnic Institute located in Mexico City, Mexico. Its students pursue the bachelor's degree in computer engineering with one major: computer systems. The curriculum is designed to last for five years. The school has a faculty mostly with postgraduate studies, and there is a growing number of teachers with doctoral studies.

Cerro Mesa Ahumada (Mesa Ahumada Hill), also known as Cerro Colorado, is a hill located in the northern region of the State of Mexico (Estado de Mexico or Edomex). It is located between the municipalities of Tequixquiac and Apaxco.This hill has a maximum elevation of 2,600 metres (8,500 ft) above sea level and is located at a southern pass leading out of the Mezquital Valley.
