John Ward House (Newton, Massachusetts)

The house at 173–175 Ward Street in Newton, Massachusetts is one of the city's few federal style houses. Built c. 1800, it is a 2+1⁄2-story wood-frame structure with clapboard siding and twin rear wall chimneys. The house has a five-bay facade with windows framed by narrow moulding. The main entrance is flanked by paired pilasters surrounding sidelight windows, topped by an entablature. The house was built by Charles Hyde and was involved in property disputes attending the construction of tunnels in the area in the mid-19th century.The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986.

The Ephraim Ward House is a historic house at 121 Ward Street in Newton, Massachusetts. The two-story wood-frame house was built in 1821, and is one of a few Federal style houses in eastern Newton. This house was built by Ephraim Ward to replace one built by his ancestor, John Ward, in 1661 on the same site. The Wards owned farmland in the area until the early 20th century. The house is five bays wide, with a hip roof and clapboard siding, and a central entrance flanked by pilasters and topped by a paneled entablature.The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986.

The Monadnock Road Historic District is a residential historic district encompassing a cohesive subdivision of a former estate in the 1920s in the Chestnut Hill section of Newton, Massachusetts. The development was typical of Newton's explosive residential growth at that time, and includes primarily Tudor Revival houses. The district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1990.

The Frank H. Stewart House is a historic house at 41 Montvale Road in Newton, Massachusetts. The 2+1⁄2-story stucco-clad house was built in 1909 for Frank H. Stewart, a lawyer. It is located in an Olmsted-designed subdivision, and is one Newton's finest large Classical Revival houses. It has a green tile hipped roof with exposed rafter ends, pierced by three hip-roofed dormers. The main facade has a front porch that merges into two flanking single-story projecting bays, all also topped by a green tile roof. There are flanking side sections fronted by porches.The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1990.

The John Harbach House is a historic house at 303 Ward Street in Newton, Massachusetts. The 2+1⁄2-story wood-frame house was built c. 1800, and is one of a few surviving Federal style houses in Newton Centre. It is one of three that are associated with the Ward family, who were early settlers of the area. The house has pilastered corners and mitered window moulding strips, and a porch sheltering the front entry that is Colonial Revival in styling. It is currently painted pink with white trim.The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986.

The C. Lewis Harrison House is a historic house at 14 Eliot Memorial Road in Newton, Massachusetts. The 1 3/4 story wood-frame house was built c. 1915 for Charles Lewis Harrison, a Boston lawyer. It is an excellent example of a Craftsman cottage, attractively set on a wooded lot overlooking the Commonwealth Country Club. Its roof has a large shed-roof dormer, above which there are two eyebrow windows. The roof slopes down over a porch, and is supported by large rustic concrete columns. The main entrance is traditional in appearance, with flanking sidelight windows and a fanlight above. Twin rubblestone chimneys rise from the sides of the house.The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1990.

WZBC (90.3 FM) is a radio station broadcasting an Alternative format. Licensed to Newton, Massachusetts, United States, the station serves Boston and its western suburbs. The station is currently owned by Boston College.While the station is run solely by students, much of the on-air staff is made up of members of the surrounding Boston community. The station broadcasts alternative and indie rock during the day, and then branches out to more diverse styles (ranging from funk to lounge to Middle Eastern) in the early evening. At night, the station focuses on experimental music, which it calls No Commercial Potential. WZBC is located in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts at the corner of Beacon and Hammond on Boston College's main campus. WZBC also broadcasts sports for the Boston College Eagles, including basketball, football, hockey, baseball, and softball. There are also a few public affairs and news shows, including the syndicated Democracy Now! at noon weekdays and several hours of WZBC produced shows on the weekends.

The large 2+1⁄2-story brick building was designed by Boston architect George H Sidebottom and built in 1919. It is the most intact and best preserved of several large early 20th century Colonial Revival estate houses in the city. Frank Hopewell, for whom it was built, worked for a manufacturing sales firm, and was treasurer and director of the Sanford Mills.The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1990.

The Newton Commonwealth Golf Course is an 18-hole public golf course located in Newton, Massachusetts, just outside the city of Boston. This course was originally created as a nine-hole course in 1897 and was previously named the Commonwealth Club. The course expanded into an 18-hole course and was redesigned by influential golf course designer and Newton resident Donald Ross. The course was converted into a public course in the late 1970s when the city of Newton purchased the Chestnut Hill Country Club because of the club's financial instability.The course is currently managed by Sterling Golf Management Inc., and has a course rating of 67.0 with a slope rating of 125.
