Bentonville is the 9th most populous city in Arkansas, United States and the county seat of Benton County. The city is centrally located in the county with Rogers adjacent to the east. The city is the birthplace and world headquarters location of Walmart, the world's largest retailer. It is one of the four main cities in the three-county Northwest Arkansas Metropolitan Statistical Area, which is ranked 105th in terms of population in the United States with 546,725 residents in 2020, according to the United States Census Bureau. The city itself had a population of 54,164 at the 2020 Census, an increase of 53% from the 2010 Census. Bentonville is considered to be one of the fastest growing cities in the state and consistently ranks amongst the safest cities in Arkansas. It is included in the Fayetteville–Springdale–Rogers Metropolitan Statistical Area.

Arkansas Anime Festival (AF2) is an annual three-day anime convention held in June/July at the Four Points by Sheraton Bentonville in Bentonville, Arkansas. It is the largest anime convention in the state of Arkansas and is family friendly.

Benton County is a county within the Northwest Arkansas region with a culture, economy, and history that have transitioned from rural and agricultural to suburban and white collar since the growth of Walmart, which is headquartered in Benton County. Created as Arkansas's 35th county on September 30, 1836, Benton County contains thirteen incorporated municipalities, including Bentonville, the county seat, and Rogers, the most populous city. The county was named after Thomas Hart Benton, a U.S. Senator from Missouri influential in Arkansas statehood. The county is located within the gently rolling terrain of the Springfield Plateau, a subset of the Ozark Mountains. Much of eastern Benton County is located along Beaver Lake, a reservoir of the White River. The county contains three protected areas: Logan Cave National Wildlife Refuge, Pea Ridge National Military Park, and Devil's Eyebrow Natural Area, as well as parts of the Ozark National Forest, Hobbs State Park – Conservation Area, and two state wildlife management areas. Other historical features such as log cabins, one-room school houses, community centers, and museums describe the history and culture of Benton County. Benton County occupies 884.86 square miles (229,180 ha) and contained a population of 284,333 people in 100,749 households as of the 2020 Census, ranking it tenth in size and second in population among the state's 75 counties. The economy is heavily influenced by the presence of Walmart and the hundreds of associated businesses, with agriculture, tourism, and construction also important sectors. Benton County has the highest median household income in the state, slightly above the national median.

The company was founded by brothers Sam and James "Bud" Walton in nearby Rogers, Arkansas in 1962 and incorporated under Delaware General Corporation Law on October 31, 1969. It also owns and operates Sam's Club retail warehouses.As of October 31, 2022, Walmart has 10,586 stores and clubs in 24 countries, operating under 46 different names. The company operates under the name Walmart in the United States and Canada, as Walmart de México y Centroamérica in Mexico and Central America, and as Flipkart Wholesale in India. It has wholly owned operations in Chile and a majority stake in Massmart in South Africa. Since August 2018, Walmart held only a minority stake in Walmart Brasil, which was renamed Grupo Big in August 2019, with 20 percent of the company's shares, and private equity firm Advent International holding 80% ownership of the company. Walmart was the largest United States grocery retailer in 2019, and 65 percent of Walmart's US$510.329 billion sales came from U.S. operations.Walmart was listed on the New York Stock Exchange in 1972. By 1988, it was the most profitable retailer in the U.S., and it had become the largest in terms of revenue by October 1989. The company was originally geographically limited to the South and lower Midwest, but it had stores from coast to coast by the early 1990s. Sam's Club opened in New Jersey in November 1989, and the first California outlet opened in Lancaster, in July 1990. A Walmart in York, Pennsylvania, opened in October 1990, the first main store in the Northeast.Walmart's investments outside the U.S. have seen mixed results. The Morris House is a historic house at 407 SW Fourth Street in Bentonville, Arkansas. Built c. 1855, this single-story frame structure is one of the few surviving pre-Civil War structures in Benton County. It has a side gable roof, narrow clapboard siding, a wide frieze board, and capped corner boards giving a hint of Greek Revival styling. Its original owner and exact construction date are not known.The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1988.

The Col. Samuel W. Peel House is a historic house museum, also known as the Peel Mansion Museum, at 400 South Walton Boulevard in Bentonville, Arkansas. It is a two-story stuccoed brick masonry structure, with a three-story hip-roofed tower at the center of its front facade. The house was built c. 1875 by Samuel W. Peel, a prominent local politician and businessman. After serving in the Confederate Army in the American Civil War, Peel studied law and practiced for many years in Bentonville. He served several terms in the United States Congress, and helped establish the First National Bank of Bentonville. Despite later alterations, the house is one of the finest Italianate mansions in the region.The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1995. The house is open for tours year-round, with a limited schedule in January and February.

The Bentonville Train Station is a former train station in Bentonville, Arkansas. Built in 1925 on Main Street, the train station served a short connector line that connected Bentonville to the St. Louis and San Francisco Railway (Frisco) to the east in Rogers, and the Kansas City, Pittsburg and Gulf Railroad to the west in Gravette. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) in 1988.

Bentonville High School (BHS) is a public high school in Bentonville, Arkansas, United States. Founded in 1910, the school provides education for students in grades nine through twelve. It is one of two high schools of the Bentonville School District. Communities zoned to Bentonville High include: much of north-east Bentonville, most of Cave Springs, much of Bella Vista, and small sections of Gravette, Little Flock, Rogers, and Springdale.The school consists of two buildings. A football stadium for the school sits adjacent. An additional campus for the district's professional studies program, Ignite, is located nearby.

The James A. Rice House is a historic house at 204 Southeast Third Street in Bentonville, Arkansas. It is a 2+1⁄2-story brick structure, with tall arched windows and a bracketed cornice typical of the Italianate style. It has a two-story porch, asymmetrical massing, and a steeply pitched roof with cut-shingle gable finish typical of the Queen Anne style, which was in fashion when it was built c. 1879. Its builder and first owner was James A. Rice, a local lawyer who served two terms as mayor.The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.

The Bentonville Third Street Historic District is a residential historic district just southeast of the central business district of Bentonville, Arkansas. It covers two blocks of SE Third Street, between Main and B Streets, including fourteen properties on Third Street and adjacent cross streets. This area, developed principally after the arrival in Bentonville of the railroad in 1881, is reflective of the high-style architecture of the late 19th and early 20th centuries that had not previously been widespread in Benton County. All of the houses are one to 2+1⁄2 stories in height, and all are wood frame, except the Elliott House, a brick house with an eclectic combination of Italianate and Second Empire styles.The district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1993.

The Linebarger House is a historic house at 606 West Central Avenue in Bentonville, Arkansas, U.S.A. This two-story Craftsman-style house was built in 1920 by C. A. Linebarger, one of the principal developers of the Bella Vista resort area north of Bentonville. As one of the first Craftsman houses built, it played a significant role in popularizing the style in the region, with a deep porch whose roof is supported by stone porch piers, wide eaves with decorative supporting brackets, and exposed rafter tails.The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1988.
