Stella Maris School is a coeducational, independent school, in Heaton Mersey, Stockport England, founded in 1976. The school is open to all denominations and is a non profit making organisation. The school is registered with the Department for Education and Employment. It occupies a Victorian, Grade II listed building on St John's Road which was formerly St. John's school and has around 70 pupils from nursery to year 6, which makes the average class size 14 pupils or less. The school has a number of notable former pupils, including historian and strategist Matthew Kay, and former world champion swimmer James Hickman. The name 'Stella Maris' is a Latin phrase meaning 'Star of the Sea'.

It is situated on the north-western border of Stockport, adjacent to Didsbury and Burnage which are in the City of Manchester.The suburb is an affluent residential area and commuter zone of Manchester; part of it has been designated a conservation area to protect its heritage.Heaton Mersey, together with its neighbouring suburbs, Heaton Norris, Heaton Chapel and Heaton Moor, are collectively known as the Four Heatons of Stockport.

Heaton Moor is a suburb of Stockport, Greater Manchester, England. Within the boundaries of the historic county of Cheshire, it is one of the Four Heatons and borders Heaton Chapel, Heaton Norris and Heaton Mersey. Heaton Moor has Victorian housing, built between 1852 and 1892 along affluent tree-lined streets which follow the field patterns of a former agricultural economy.

Different parts of this ward are represented by different MPs following boundary changes in 2018; the majority of the ward is part of the Manchester Withington constituency but a portion is part of the Manchester Gorton constituency. The 2011 Census recorded a population of 15,227.

St Margaret's Church is in Burnage Lane, Burnage, a neighbourhood of Manchester, England. It is an active Anglican parish church in the deanery of Heaton, the archdeaconry of Manchester, and the diocese of Manchester. It is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a Grade II listed building, having been designated on 9 February 2012.

Burnage is a suburb of the city of Manchester in North West England, about 4 miles (6.4 km) south of Manchester city centre and bisected by the dual carriageway of Kingsway. Within the boundaries of the historic county of Lancashire, the population of the Burnage Ward at the 2011 census was 15,227. It lies between Withington to the west, Levenshulme to the north, Heaton Chapel to the east and Didsbury and Heaton Mersey to the south.

The Church of St Nicholas, Kingsway, Burnage, Manchester, is a Modernist church of 1930–2 by N. F. Cachemaille-Day, Lander and Welch. It was enlarged in 1964 with a bay on the west side, also by Cachemaille-Day. Pevsner describes the church as "a milestone in the history of church architecture in England". The church was designated a Grade II* listed building on 10 October 1980.St Nicholas is one of a relatively small group of Modernist churches in England, and one of the earliest. It is "of brick, high, sheer and sculptural, with a German-inspired passion for brick grooves and ribbing, both vertical and horizontal." The building cost £11,600. The interior was plainly furnished, "the walls bare, the windows clear, but the ceiling is coffered in blue, red and gold".In 2001–3, the church underwent significant conservation, at a cost of over 1 million pounds. The conservation included a re-ordering of the interior to provide additional meeting space, and offices, including the insertion of a "striking glass circular meeting room", designed by Anthony Grimshaw Associates from Wigan. "The church's spatial complexity is not spoiled, but rather added to", by "hanging the meeting room above head height".

Burnage railway station is a railway station in south Manchester, England, in the suburb of Burnage on the Styal Line. The station is served by Manchester – Crewe Northern Trains stopping services to Manchester Airport. It caters mainly for commuter traffic, being electrified at 25 kV AC overhead, and is used by EMU traffic. The station sits on the Styal Line to Manchester Airport, one of the congested lines on the national rail network. Historically it has been served by a half-hourly service to Manchester Airport/Crewe and Manchester Piccadilly. Since May 2018 services operate on a 'skip-stop' basis at irregular intervals to increase capacity on the line. As a designated Northern Connect stop, a direct express service to Blackpool North via Chorley was introduced as part of this timetable change. This was replaced by calls on services between Windermere/Barrow-in-Furness and Manchester Airport running via Wigan North Western as part of the December 2019 timetable change.

Mauldeth Road railway station (known as Mauldeth Road for Withington until 1974) is a suburban railway station serving the Ladybarn area of Manchester, England. It is the last station before Manchester Piccadilly on the Styal Line and was electrified in 1959. The station sits on the Styal Line to Manchester Airport, one of the most congested lines on the national rail network. Historically it has been served by a half-hourly stopping service from Manchester Airport/Crewe to Manchester Piccadilly; however, since May 2018, services operate on a skip-stop basis at irregular intervals to increase capacity on the line. As a result, one of the half-hourly stopping services was replaced with a semi-fast service to Liverpool.

Gorsey Bank is a former housing estate in Stockport, Greater Manchester, England, to the west of the town centre between the River Mersey, the M60 motorway and the A560 Stockport Road. It has since been redeveloped as a business park.
