Poortugaal metro station

Albrandswaard (Dutch: [ˌɑlbrɑntsˈʋaːrt] (listen)) is a municipality in the western Netherlands, in the province of South Holland. The municipality had a population of 25,271 as of 2019, and covers an area of 23.76 km2 (9.17 sq mi) of which 2.07 km2 (0.80 sq mi) is water. The municipality of Albrandswaard consists of the village of Poortugaal in the west and Rhoon in the east. They were separate municipalities until 1985. The name was taken from the historic municipality of Albrandswaard en Kijvelanden, which existed until 1842, when it joined Poortugaal. Albrandswaard actually is a polder located between Rhoon and Poortugaal. Both villages have a metro station on Rotterdam Metro line D (Poortugaal station and Rhoon station), which connect them to Rotterdam and to the main railway network from Rotterdam Centraal in the east, and to Hoogvliet and Spijkenisse in the west.

Poortugaal is a village that is situated near the municipality of Rotterdam. Together with Rhoon, Poortugaal forms the municipality of Albrandswaard. The village has a long history dating back to the 15th century. It has a church dating from that period. The name is probably derived from Portugal.Since January 1, 1985, the village has been part of the municipality of Albrandswaard together with Rhoon.The village has a connection to the city of Rotterdam by Rotterdam Metro line D, through Poortugaal station.

Tussenwater is an above-ground subway station of the Rotterdam Metro lines C and D. The station is located in the borough Hoogvliet in Rotterdam. The station is situated just before the tracks of lines C and D split. Because of this, the station has four running tracks, which are situated along three platforms. The northern two tracks (for southbound/westbound trains) share one platform, while the southern two tracks each have their own platform. Because the line C track passes the line D tracks on a fly-over just east of the station, the platform for the eastbound line C trains is located higher than the other platforms.

Boomgaardshoek is a neighborhood of Rotterdam, Netherlands. This part of Hoogvliet was built at the end of 1970s and early 1980s and finished by the end of the 1980s. When they started building this area, it belonged to Poortugaal, in 1986 it became part of Rotterdam. One part of Boomgaardshoek has bird names and the other part has names of flowers. Those two are separated by a bike lane which comes from south Zalmplaat to North Tussenwater.

Rhoon is an above-ground subway station of Rotterdam Metro line D. The station is located just north of the centre of Rhoon, a village in the municipality Albrandswaard to the southwest of Rotterdam. The station was opened on October 25, 1974. On that date, the North-South Line was extended from its former terminus, Slinge, towards Zalmplaat station. As a less busy station it is only equipped with one escalator located at the platform with the most upward motions, which as this is an station which is accessed via overpass, is the platform towards De Akkers on the North side. This side also has a secondary exit roughly at ground level. Right outside the station, passengers can get on RET-operated bus line 62.

Pernis is a neighborhood and submunicipality (since 3 March 2010) of Rotterdam, Netherlands. The district has a population of 4,845 (2018) on a total area size of 1.60 km² (0.62 sq mi). Pernis is thus a full submunicipality of Rotterdam, but the former independent municipality had its own district council already. Although surrounded by ports, Pernis has preserved its village-like atmosphere very well. Pernis is best known for its petrochemical industry. Refineries define its skyline. Shell's sprawling complex located there is the largest oil refinery in Europe, and one of the largest in the world. Pernis was merged with 's-Gravenambacht in 1832. It remained an independent municipality until 1934, when it was merged into Rotterdam.

Pernis is an above-ground metro station of the Rotterdam Metro Line C. The station is located in the village of Pernis, near the centre of Rotterdam. The station was opened in November 2002, as a result of an extension of the East-West Line (also formerly called Caland line). This extension connected the former terminus Marconiplein to the North-South Line (also Erasmus line) at Tussenwater station.

Rhoonse Veer is a former hamlet, located south of the Dutch town of Rhoon. The name means "Rhoon's ferry", and refers to the ferry between Rhoon and Oud-Beijerland. The hamlet grew around the Catholic Church of Rhoon. After the Reformation, the Catholics in the area lost their church in Rhoon to the Protestant majority, but the lord of Rhoon, Willem Bentinck, allowed them to build a new church near the ferry in 1684.The hamlet no longer exists; it is now a part of the town of Rhoon itself. There is still a ferry called "Rhoonsveer"; it departs from the marina 500 m south of the former hamlet of Rhoonse Veer, with service to Spijkenisse and Oud-Beijerland.[1]

The station was opened on 25 October 1974. On that date, the North-South Line (currently operated by line D trains) was extended from its former terminus, Slinge, towards Zalmplaat station. Since the East-West Line was connected to the North-South Line in November 2002, trains of what is currently line C also call at Hoogvliet station.

's-Gravenambacht is a former hamlet and former municipality in the Dutch province of South Holland. The area is now part of Rotterdam, and almost completely covered by the Eemhaven dockyards. The western part of the village of Heijplaat is also in this area. The municipality existed between 1817 and 1832, when it merged with Pernis.

Zalmplaat is an above-ground subway station of the Rotterdam Metro lines C and D. The station is located in the borough Hoogvliet in Rotterdam and features two side platforms. The station was opened on 25 October 1974. On that date, the North-South Line (currently operated by line D trains) was extended from its former terminus, Slinge, towards Zalmplaat station. Until the line was extended further towards De Akkers in 1985, Zalmplaat was the southern terminus of the line. Since the East-West Line was connected to the North-South Line in November 2002, trains of what is currently line C also call at the station.
