Hoogvliet metro station

Zalmplaat is an above-ground subway station of the Rotterdam Metro lines C and D. The station is located in the borough Hoogvliet in Rotterdam and features two side platforms. The station was opened on 25 October 1974. On that date, the North-South Line (currently operated by line D trains) was extended from its former terminus, Slinge, towards Zalmplaat station. Until the line was extended further towards De Akkers in 1985, Zalmplaat was the southern terminus of the line. Since the East-West Line was connected to the North-South Line in November 2002, trains of what is currently line C also call at the station.

Boomgaardshoek is a neighborhood of Rotterdam, Netherlands. This part of Hoogvliet was built at the end of 1970s and early 1980s and finished by the end of the 1980s. When they started building this area, it belonged to Poortugaal, in 1986 it became part of Rotterdam. One part of Boomgaardshoek has bird names and the other part has names of flowers. Those two are separated by a bike lane which comes from south Zalmplaat to North Tussenwater.

The station is situated just before the tracks of lines C and D split. Because of this, the station has four running tracks, which are situated along three platforms. The northern two tracks (for southbound/westbound trains) share one platform, while the southern two tracks each have their own platform. Because the line C track passes the line D tracks on a fly-over just east of the station, the platform for the eastbound line C trains is located higher than the other platforms.

Pernis is a neighborhood and submunicipality (since 3 March 2010) of Rotterdam, Netherlands. The district has a population of 4,845 (2018) on a total area size of 1.60 km² (0.62 sq mi). Pernis is thus a full submunicipality of Rotterdam, but the former independent municipality had its own district council already. Although surrounded by ports, Pernis has preserved its village-like atmosphere very well. Pernis is best known for its petrochemical industry. Refineries define its skyline. Shell's sprawling complex located there is the largest oil refinery in Europe, and one of the largest in the world. Pernis was merged with 's-Gravenambacht in 1832. It remained an independent municipality until 1934, when it was merged into Rotterdam.

Pernis is an above-ground metro station of the Rotterdam Metro Line C. The station is located in the village of Pernis, near the centre of Rotterdam. The station was opened in November 2002, as a result of an extension of the East-West Line (also formerly called Caland line). Poortugaal is an above-ground subway station of Rotterdam Metro line D. The station is located in Poortugaal, a village in the municipality Albrandswaard to the southwest of Rotterdam. It is located north of the village centre of Poortugaal. The station was opened on 25 October 1974. On that date, the North-South Line was extended from its former terminus, Slinge, towards Zalmplaat station. The Poortugaal and Zalmplaat station share the same design though mirrored. As a less busy station it is only equipped with one escalator located at the platform with the most upward motions, which as this is an above ground station, is the platform towards the centre on the south side. Right outside the station, passengers can get on RET-operated bus lines 79 and 602.

Hekelingen is a village in the Dutch province of South Holland. It is located immediately to the south of Spijkenisse. From 1812 to 1817, Hekelingen was part of Spijkenisse. It was a separate municipality from 1817 until 1 January 1966, when it merged with Spijkenisse.

Albrandswaard (Dutch: [ˌɑlbrɑntsˈʋaːrt] (listen)) is a municipality in the western Netherlands, in the province of South Holland. The municipality had a population of 25,271 as of 2019, and covers an area of 23.76 km2 (9.17 sq mi) of which 2.07 km2 (0.80 sq mi) is water. The municipality of Albrandswaard consists of the village of Poortugaal in the west and Rhoon in the east. They were separate municipalities until 1985. The name was taken from the historic municipality of Albrandswaard en Kijvelanden, which existed until 1842, when it joined Poortugaal. Albrandswaard actually is a polder located between Rhoon and Poortugaal. Both villages have a metro station on Rotterdam Metro line D (Poortugaal station and Rhoon station), which connect them to Rotterdam and to the main railway network from Rotterdam Centraal in the east, and to Hoogvliet and Spijkenisse in the west.
