The Hayes Conference Centre is a group of buildings in Swanwick, Derbyshire, UK which are used for conferences and other functions.

Indietracks was an annual indie pop music festival at the Midland Railway in Butterley, Derbyshire, England. The main site was located at Swanwick Junction. Bands played in variety of locations, including a restored church, in a train shed, and on the moving trains themselves. The event was staffed by volunteers, with the proceeds from the festival going towards the upkeep and renovation of the site and trains.The first indiepop event held at the centre was in April 2007, organised by steam train restorer Stuart Mackay. Indietracks was established as a two-day festival in summer that year.Reviewing the 2011 festival, Malcolm Jack of The Guardian described the artists as "so obscure you have to wonder if they've even heard of themselves". He writes, "Indietracks does little to dispel the notion of indie-pop fans being given to whimsy. It's the annual gathering of the twee tribe – think lovers of a broad church of outsider sounds from C86-inspired three-chord shambling to riot grrrl and anti-folk."The festival inspired compilation albums, released annually. In November 2021, the festival organisers announced that 2019's event would be the last Indietracks, citing the pandemic as a primary reason for the festival not continuing.

The Midland Railway – Butterley is a heritage railway and museum complex at Butterley, near Ripley in Derbyshire.

Butterley railway station is a preserved railway station on the Heritage Midland Railway - Butterley in Derbyshire.

Butterley Reservoir is a reservoir in Derbyshire, England. The reservoir was built to provide water for the Cromford Canal which opened for use in 1794. The Codnor Park and Butterley Park reservoirs also provided water to the Cromford Canal. The line of the Cromford Canal passes beneath the reservoir along the Butterley Tunnel. When the canal tunnel was in use, water was provided to the canal directly from the reservoir via an adit which connects to the Butterley tunnel.The reservoir is crossed by a causeway on the Midland Railway - Butterley's line between Butterley railway station and Hammersmith railway station, the latter being a new creation. A variety of waterfowl can be seen on the reservoir, and fishing is allowed with a permit.

Butterley is a village in the English county of Derbyshire near to Ripley. The area is dominated by the now disused site of the Butterley Company and the Butterley Reservoir. It is the headquarters of the Midland Railway – Butterley, located at the site of the Butterley Railway Station. The B6179 travels through the village with Swanwick to the north and Ripley to the south. The A610 Ripley Bypass passes through the area. The Derbyshire Constabulary and Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service headquarters are located at Butterley Hall.

The Butterley Company was an English manufacturing firm founded as Benjamin Outram and Company in 1790. Its subsidiaries existed until 2009.

Hammersmith railway station is a heritage railway station on the Midland Railway – Butterley in Derbyshire. There was no station at this point originally, being situated on the Ambergate–Pye Bridge line. However, when the line was reopened, the A38 road prevented any further westward extension. Hammersmith is used as terminus with a run-around loop. Trains normally proceed from here eastwards without stopping at Butterley railway station which they left a few minutes previously. The location of the terminus allows passengers to cross the causeway over Butterley Reservoir. There is no vehicular access at this point although a public footpath runs across the end of the platform; passengers are instead advised to use Butterley railway station. The signal box at Hammersmith was originally at Kilby Bridge in Leicestershire. Built in 1900, it was closed by British Rail on 29 June 1986 and moved to the Centre in August 1986. It was re-erected at Hammersmith in 1987 and commissioned in September 1989. It is a standard Midland Railway type 3B box.

Leabrooks is a small urban locality in Derbyshire that merges with the village of Somercotes and the locality of Greenhill Lane. It is named after a stream, the Lee Brook, which formerly ran through it after rising on an area known as The Lees (off Sleetmoor Lane, originally known as Lee Moor Lane). It has a number of shops and businesses, a pub, a park and a cemetery. Sofa Brands International, best known for the Parker Knoll range, is a principal employer in the area having acquired the Leabrooks Upholstery company.

Butterley Hall is an 18th-century country house near Ripley, Derbyshire. It is a Grade II listed building. The site is now the headquarters of the Derbyshire Constabulary. The manor of Butterley was owned by Darley Abbey until the Dissolution of the Monasteries in the 16th century. The two-storey, attic gabled eight-bayed house was built in the late 18th century for the Home family but was sold in 1790 to Francis Beresford for occupation by Benjamin Outram, founder of the Butterley Company. The Hall was the 1803 birthplace of General Sir James Outram of the Indian Army. Following Benjamin Outram's death in 1805 his business partner William Jessop took residence. His grandson, also William Jessop of Butterley Hall, was High Sheriff of Derbyshire in 1878. From 1892 to 1938 the hall was occupied by Albert Leslie Wright (1862-1938), Chairman and Managing Director of the Butterley Company, and his family. Like Jessop, Leslie Wright held the office of High Sheriff of Derbyshire in 1919. His son, Fitzwalter (1902-1957), and grandson John would continue to run Butterley until 1968.The house later became the head office of the Butterley Company before it was acquired by Derbyshire Police.

Swanwick Junction railway station (pronounced "Swannick") is a heritage railway station situated on the former Ambergate to Pye Bridge Line which closed in 1968, but has been partially reopened by the Midland Railway - Butterley. Despite the station's name it is some distance from Swanwick. Previously, there was originally no station here (during BR/LMS days), only a junction with the Swanwick Colliery Branch Line. However, when the line was restored, Swanwick campus was the centre for the main activities of the Midland Railway - Butterley, and the station gives access to the attractions there. The station itself is within walking distance of Butterley railway station to the west. The station has four platforms. Platform No. 1 is the southernmost and is a bay platform. Platform No. 2 is the main platform in use and is a side platform. On platforms 1 and 2, the ex-Midland station building from Syston railway station in Leicestershire has been rebuilt. In addition, there is an island platform with Platform Nos 3 and 4. The building here is a replica of that at Broom Junction railway station. Platform No. 4 is the only platform which can serve the Swanwick Colliery Branch, with DMU shuttles, demonstration goods trains or footplate experience locomotives running from this platform up the branch on gala days. In 2013, a footbridge linking platforms 1 and 2 to platforms 3 and 4 was completed; this was originally located at Belle Vue railway station. Wheelchair access is provided by means of a foot crossing at the west end of the platform. The signal box originally comes from Kettering railway station in Northamptonshire.There is currently no station further east of Swanwick Junction, though trains continue to a run-round loop at Riddings situated on the northern branch of a triangle with the Midland Main Line, close by. The MR-B has stated an ambition to build a new station at the loop as well as to reopen the site of Pye Bridge railway station as the preserved line's eastern terminus. The station is the main location of the Indietracks music festival.
