The Hayes Conference Centre is a group of buildings in Swanwick, Derbyshire, UK which are used for conferences and other functions.

Butterley Tunnel is a 3,083-yard (2,819 m) disused canal tunnel on the Cromford Canal below Ripley, in Derbyshire, England, opened to traffic in 1794. Along with Butterley Works blast furnaces, part of the canal tunnel and its underground wharf were declared a scheduled monument in 2013.

Leabrooks is a small urban locality in Derbyshire that merges with the village of Somercotes and the locality of Greenhill Lane. It is named after a stream, the Lee Brook, which formerly ran through it after rising on an area known as The Lees (off Sleetmoor Lane, originally known as Lee Moor Lane). It has a number of shops and businesses, a pub, a park and a cemetery. Sofa Brands International, best known for the Parker Knoll range, is a principal employer in the area having acquired the Leabrooks Upholstery company.

Butterley Hall is an 18th-century country house near Ripley, Derbyshire. It is a Grade II listed building. The site is now the headquarters of the Derbyshire Constabulary. The manor of Butterley was owned by Darley Abbey until the Dissolution of the Monasteries in the 16th century. The two-storey, attic gabled eight-bayed house was built in the late 18th century for the Home family but was sold in 1790 to Francis Beresford for occupation by Benjamin Outram, founder of the Butterley Company. The Hall was the 1803 birthplace of General Sir James Outram of the Indian Army. Following Benjamin Outram's death in 1805 his business partner William Jessop took residence. His grandson, also William Jessop of Butterley Hall, was High Sheriff of Derbyshire in 1878. From 1892 to 1938 the hall was occupied by Albert Leslie Wright (1862-1938), Chairman and Managing Director of the Butterley Company, and his family. Like Jessop, Leslie Wright held the office of High Sheriff of Derbyshire in 1919. His son, Fitzwalter (1902-1957), and grandson John would continue to run Butterley until 1968.The house later became the head office of the Butterley Company before it was acquired by Derbyshire Police.

Indietracks was an annual indie pop music festival at the Midland Railway in Butterley, Derbyshire, England. The main site was located at Swanwick Junction. Bands played in variety of locations, including a restored church, in a train shed, and on the moving trains themselves. The event was staffed by volunteers, with the proceeds from the festival going towards the upkeep and renovation of the site and trains.The first indiepop event held at the centre was in April 2007, organised by steam train restorer Stuart Mackay. Indietracks was established as a two-day festival in summer that year.Reviewing the 2011 festival, Malcolm Jack of The Guardian described the artists as "so obscure you have to wonder if they've even heard of themselves". He writes, "Indietracks does little to dispel the notion of indie-pop fans being given to whimsy. It's the annual gathering of the twee tribe – think lovers of a broad church of outsider sounds from C86-inspired three-chord shambling to riot grrrl and anti-folk."The festival inspired compilation albums, released annually. In November 2021, the festival organisers announced that 2019's event would be the last Indietracks, citing the pandemic as a primary reason for the festival not continuing.

The Midland Railway – Butterley is a heritage railway and museum complex at Butterley, near Ripley in Derbyshire.

Riddings is a large village in Derbyshire, England. The appropriate ward of the Amber Valley Council is called Ironville and Riddings. The population of this ward as at the 2011 census was 5,821. It is located 2 miles (3 km) south of Alfreton near the hamlet of Golden Valley. The name derives from Ryddynges, a clearing or riding in a wood. This was the ancient forest known as Alfreton Grove within the manor of Alfreton. The settlement goes back at least to the 12th century, when Hugh de Ryddynges received half of the manor of Riddings and half of Watnall from his relative Ralf Ingram of Alfreton.

Greenhill Lane is a hamlet near the town of Alfreton, Derbyshire, England, located between the villages of Leabrooks and Riddings. The majority of UK census references suggest that Greenhill Lane is a district hamlet and it was treated as a village in the 1851 census.

Swanwick () is a village in Derbyshire, England, also a parish within the Amber Valley district, with a population of 5,316 at the 2001 census, falling to 5,084 at the 2011 Census. It has a number of shops, pubs and other businesses, a Church of St Andrews, as well as Methodist and Baptist churches. In the northern part of the parish an industrial estate on the former Swanwick Colliery site incorporates the Thornton's Confectionery factory along with other businesses. There is also a Christian conference centre, the largest in the UK. Now largely urbanised, the parish still has some remaining agricultural land to the north and west.

Golden Valley is a small hamlet in Derbyshire, England. It is between the larger villages of Codnor and Riddings, and near Ironville and Codnor Park to the east. There was once a road to Ripley, but this is now disused. It is best known for the now derelict Cromford Canal, being at the eastern portal of Butterley Tunnel, from which the canal merges into Codnor Park Reservoir, which has an unexploded German bomb from World War II marooned at the bottom. The Pinxton arm of the canal also starts at Golden Valley. It is also known for its picturesque cottages on the canalside, which were originally built to accommodate miners, and also the Newlands Inn, which closed down in 2007 and is currently in a state of disrepair. On 6 August 2011, a fire broke out and the building was gutted. As of 2018, the site still remains derelict.

Butterley is a village in the English county of Derbyshire near to Ripley. The area is dominated by the now disused site of the Butterley Company and the Butterley Reservoir. It is the headquarters of the Midland Railway – Butterley, located at the site of the Butterley Railway Station. The B6179 travels through the village with Swanwick to the north and Ripley to the south. The A610 Ripley Bypass passes through the area. The Derbyshire Constabulary and Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service headquarters are located at Butterley Hall.
