One Tree Hill is a peak near the village of Hall and the Canberra suburb of Taylor. Its trigonometrical station lies on the border between the Australian Capital Territory and New South Wales, Australia. It is at the north-eastern end of the longest straight-line section of the border, with Mount Coree at the south-western end. North and east of One Tree Hill, the border is formed by the watershed of the Molonglo River catchment. One-Tree Trigonometrical Station is nominated in the description of the Australian Capital Territory, in the Second Schedule of the Seat of Government Acceptance Act 1909. In 2022, it was announced that there would negotiations on a change to the straight-line section of the border; the border south-west from One Tree Hill will follow the current straight line, but only to the point where it intersects Ginninderra Creek. The other straight-line from Mount Coree will end at the Murrumbidgee River, with the land enclosed by the right bank of the Murrumbidgee and the left bank of Ginninderra Creek to become part of the ACT.One Tree Hill lies on the traditional lands of Ngunnawal people.Robert Dixon in 1830 and Robert Hoddle, between 1830 and 1836, used One Tree Hill as a high point from where to view the area and as a landmark from which they took bearings, while surveying the area.It was the location at which Charles Scrivener began his detailed topographical survey of the area for the new capital site of Canberra. Later, it was an important location for the survey of the border of the new Australian Capital Territory.One Tree Hill is a popular walking destination and lies on the Canberra Centenary Trail. The lookout at the top of the hill provides a panoramic view in all directions.There is a Telstra telecommunications tower on the hill.

Moncrieff is a suburb in the Gungahlin district of Canberra, the National Capital of Australia. The name was gazetted in April 1991, with initial land releases becoming available to developers in June 2014. It is named after Gladys Moncrieff, an Australian singer of the 1920-1930s musical era who was dubbed 'Australia's Queen of Song'. The suburb is in north Gungahlin, adjacent to the existing suburbs of Ngunnawal and Amaroo and the future suburbs of Taylor and Jacka. The suburb is located approximately 4 km from the Gungahlin Town Centre and 16 km from the centre of Canberra, and is bounded by Mirrabei Drive and Horse Park Drive. It is home to the Moncrieff Community Recreation Park, which was voted the ACT's favourite playground in 2021.Like most new Canberra suburbs, it is a cat containment area: all cats have to be kept inside the cat owner's property and within an enclosure if outside.

Jacka is a suburb of Gungahlin, Canberra, the National Capital of Australia. The suburb was gazetted on 25 April 2001 and development began in 2013. It had some residents at the beginning of 2014. The suburb is named after Albert Jacka, the first Australian to be decorated with the Victoria Cross during the First World War, receiving the medal for his actions during the Gallipoli Campaign. Jacka is located in north Gungahlin adjacent to the suburbs of Amaroo, Taylor, Bonner and Moncrieff. The suburb is located approximately 4 km from the Gungahlin Town Centre and 16 km from the centre of Canberra.

Casey is a suburb in Canberra, Australia, approximately 4 km from the Gungahlin Town Centre and about 13 km from the centre of Canberra. The suburb is named after Richard Casey, Baron Casey an Australian politician, diplomat and later the 16th Governor-General of Australia. It is bound by Horse Park Drive and Clarrie Hermes Drive. Casey is located in north-west Gungahlin, adjacent to the suburbs of Nicholls and Ngunnawal, and the future suburbs of Taylor and Moncrieff. The suburb draws its place names from notable Australian diplomats, public servants and administrators. Former Lieutenant-Governor of South Australia Walter Crocker and Sir John Overall, the former head of the National Capital Development Commission are honoured by place names in Casey.

Gold Creek Homestead is a 140-year-old stone and brick building located off Gungahlin Drive in Ngunnawal a north-western suburb of Canberra, Australia. It is adjacent to the Grove Ngunnawal retirement village currently being developed by Lend Lease. The Gold Creek Homestead Complex referred to a group of four buildings including the 697m2 homestead, a stone and timber cottage, a buggy shed and an entertainment and function centre (formerly a machinery shed). The Gold Creek Homestead Site was a 41-hectare parcel of land, specifically Block 1 and 2, Section 23 Ngunnawal upon which the aforementioned complex was situated. Gold Creek Homestead was at one time at the centre of 'Gold Creek' a sprawling 1,594 hectare (3,940 acre) rural property, the largest in the Ginninderra district. Portions of the former property are or will be occupied by parts of the suburbs of Ngunnawal, Nicholls, Harcourt Hill, Moncrieff, Casey, Kinlyside and Taylor as well as large parcels of land in NSW adjacent to the village of Hall. the site then became abandoned for a little while, leaving teenagers to explore it during the night. it was then put up for sale after it was declined to be heritage listed.

Ngunnawal () is a suburb in the district of Gungahlin in Canberra, Australia. The suburb is named in tribute to the Ngunnawal people, the original inhabitants of the area. The suburb was gazetted on 24 April 1992. Ngunnawal is adjacent to the suburbs of Nicholls, Casey, Moncrieff, Amaroo and Gungahlin. It is bounded by Gungahlin Drive, Horse Park Drive, Gundaroo Drive and Mirrabei Drive. Ginninderra Creek is situated near Ngunnawal's eastern boundary. The suburb is located approximately 4 km from the Gungahlin Town Centre and about 13 km from the centre of Canberra.

St John Paul II College is a systemic Roman Catholic co-educational high school located in the Canberra suburb of Nicholls in the Australian Capital Territory of Australia. The school is named in honour of Pope John Paul II.The school caters for boys and girls from years 7-12 who live in the Gungahlin area and nearby regional areas in New South Wales. The school is part of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Canberra and Goulburn.

Kinlyside is a rural locality in the Australian Capital Territory. It was gazetted in 1991 as a planned outer suburb of Gungahlin. It was never released for development, and the governing Labor Party campaigned at the 2004 election and 2008 election on the policy of making Kinlyside a nature reserve instead. In 2013, it was set aside as a protected area that would remain undeveloped under an environmental offsets plan associated with increased development in Gungahlin. As of 2019, it remains a gazetted locality in the Territory Plan.According to the ACT's Planning and Land Authority, the locality is named after George Kendall Kinlyside. From a well known pioneer family in the Ginninderra-Hall area; followed in his father's footsteps as wheelwright, coachbuilder and blacksmith at Hall; in 1907 he built a hall which served the Hall community for many years; active in local affairs and joint secretary of the Hall Progress Association when established in 1906. Kinlyside is bounded by the village of Hall to the west, Nicholls to the south east, by Casey to the east and Clarrie Hermes Drive to the south. The suburb's other boundaries have been surveyed but not yet established.

Bonner is a suburb in the district of Gungahlin in Canberra in the Australian Capital Territory, Australia. It is bounded by Horse Park Drive, Mulligans Flat Road, and Roden Cutler Drive and is approximately 4 km (2.5 mi) from the Gungahlin Town Centre and 16 km (9.9 mi) from the centre of Canberra. It is adjacent to the suburbs of Jacka, Amaroo and Forde. Settlement of the suburb began in 2010, and it had an estimated population of 6,730 at the 2016 census.

Amaroo () is a suburb in the Canberra, Australia district of Gungahlin and was gazetted on 18 October 1991. Amaroo means 'a beautiful place' in Nyoongar. Place names in Amaroo such as Shoalhaven Avenue are named after Australian rivers and lakes. Amaroo is adjacent to the suburbs of Ngunnawal, Gungahlin, Moncrieff, Forde, Bonner and Jacka. The suburb is bounded by Mirrabei Drive and Horse Park Drive and Gundaroo Drive. The suburb is located approximately 1 km from the Gungahlin Town Centre and 15 km from the centre of Canberra.

Hall Primary School was a rural primary school on the northern outskirts of Canberra in the Australian Capital Territory. It was Canberra's oldest continually operating school, having opened in 1911, until its closure was announced on 13 December 2006, by the Education Minister, Andrew Barr as foreshadowed in the 2006–07 Australian Capital Territory budget. Integrated into the school is the Laurie Copping Museum that recreates a school room from 1911. It was opened by the Governor-General in 2005. The school was originally established in New South Wales and was the responsibility of the New South Wales government until 1913 when the ACT was created. The Commonwealth Government still pays the cost of interstate based Hall students by way of Commonwealth Grants Commission adjustments.

Nicholls is a suburb in the Canberra, Australia district of Gungahlin. It was named after Sir Douglas Nicholls (1906–1988) who was born at Cummeragunja Aboriginal mission, New South Wales. Nicholls was a footballer, pastor, activist, and Governor of South Australia, 1976–1977. In line with the philosophy of naming Canberra's streets, those of Nicholls are named after sportspeople. The suburb incorporates a large shallow body of water, designated Gungahlin Pond, with The Lakes golf course and the greatest number of residential streets on one side and a small cluster of residential streets, the "pondside promenade", named after birds, on the other. There is no direct connecting road between the two. Nicholls adjoins the suburbs of Kinlyside, Casey, Ngunnawal, Crace and Palmerston. The suburb is located approximately 2 km from the Gungahlin Town Centre and about 13 km from the centre of Canberra.
