Marx Dormoy (French pronunciation: ​[maʁks dɔʁmwa]) is a station on line 12 of the Paris Métro in the districts of La Chapelle and Goutte d'Or and the 18th arrondissement. The station opened on 23 August 1916 as part of the extension of the Nord-Sud company's line A from Jules Joffrin to Porte de la Chapelle. On 27 March 1931 line A became line 12 of the Métro. The station is named after Marx Dormoy (1888–1941), a French socialist politician assassinated by Cagoulards. Until 1946 it was called Torcy after the Place de Torcy, named after Colbert de Torcy (1665–1746), who was a nephew of Colbert and a diplomat and Foreign Minister under Louis XIV. Nearby is the church of Jeanne d'Arc, where Joan of Arc prayed on 3 September 1429 and the la Chapelle market.

The Quartier de La Chapelle is a neighborhood of Paris, in the eastern part of the 18th arrondissement. It was originally the village of La Chapelle on the outskirts of Paris and a commune in its own right, separated from the commune of Paris by the wall of the Farmers-General. However, as part of the city's major 19th-century expansion, the former village was absorbed by Paris in 1860.

Porte de la Chapelle (French pronunciation: ​[pɔʁt də la ʃapɛl]) is a station on line 12 of the Paris Métro in the districts of La Chapelle and Goutte d'Or and the 18th arrondissement. Porte de la Chapelle was the terminus of line 12 until 18 December 2012, when an extension opened to Front Populaire. The station is named after the Porte de la Chapelle, a gate in the nineteenth century Thiers wall of Paris, on the Rue de la Chapelle, the old Roman road to Calais via Saint-Denis, now Route nationale 1. It was named after a village that was annexed by Paris in 1860 and was named after a chapel to Saint Genevieve built in the 6th century. The station is featured in "Crossroads", an episode of the American HBO series "Band of Brothers". Work is under way to extend the line into the commune of Aubervilliers, initially to Front Populaire, which opened in 2012. It is proposed to extend it further north through several stations to La Courneuve – Aubervilliers RER line B station or La Courneuve 6 Routes Tramway line 1 station.An interchange with Paris tramway Line 3b opened on 15 December 2012. The tramway terminates at Porte de la Chapelle.

The Goutte d'Or (French pronunciation: ​[ɡut dɔʁ], Drop of Gold) is a neighbourhood in Paris, located in the 18th arrondissement of Paris. The neighbourhood has large numbers of North African and sub-Saharan residents. It is known for its open-air market, le marché Dejean.

Crack Hill is the name given to an illegal drug trade camp located near Porte de la Chapelle in the north of Paris, related to the city's crack crisis. It is a wasteland which has become a place for the dealers and consumers of this highly addictive drug to gather. Hundreds of drug addicts are squatting there day and night in an open drug marketplace.Its name comes from a median strip on the Porte de la Chapelle motorway interchange, where the first drug addicts settled.The hill has been evacuated more than a dozen times. In April 2019, according to BFM Paris, Paris City Hall planned to open a reception and rest center for drug addicts.
