Jahnstadion (Marl)

Marl (German: [maʁl] ) is a town and a municipality in the district of Recklinghausen, in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It is situated near the Wesel-Datteln Canal, approx. 10 km north-west of Recklinghausen. It has about 90,000 people.

Marl-Hamm station is a railway station on the Gelsenkirchen-Buer Nord–Marl Lippe railway in Marl in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia. It is classified by Deutsche Bahn as a category 6 station and was opened on 27 September 1968. It is located in the north of the city on an embankment. A section of the A 52 runs parallel to the line. It has a side platform and can be reached by stairs and lifts. It is served by Rhine-Ruhr S-Bahn line S 9 at hourly intervals. Route: Haltern am See - Marl - Gladbeck - Bottrop - Essen - Wuppertal. It is also served by bus route 225 (Hüls – Marl + Waldsiedlung, at 30-minute intervals) operated by Vestische Straßenbahnen.

It is surrounded by the neighbouring districts of Borken, Coesfeld, Unna, Gelsenkirchen, Bottrop, and Wesel. The district administration is located in the city of the same name. Apart from the Region Hannover, Kreis Recklinghausen is the largest non-city district in Germany by population.

Marl Mitte is a railway station on the Gelsenkirchen-Buer Nord–Marl Lippe railway (a single-track electrified line built in 1968) in Marl in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia. It is classified by Deutsche Bahn as a category 6 station and was opened on 24 October 1974.The attached Marl Mitte (S) bus station is one of the central connecting points in the bus network of the Vestische Straßenbahnen. The Marler Stern shopping centre is also in the immediate vicinity of the halt. Access is via a pedestrian bridge with a lift connecting to the Marler Stern as well as via a level access to the east. Marl-Sinsen is the one of three stations in the city of Marl in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia. The station is classified as station category 5 and is under the station administration of Münster.

Marl-Chemiepark Power Station is an ensemble of three thermal power stations. One of these power stations has a 300 meters tall, another a 241 meters tall chimney. The 300 meters chimney was demolished in 1995, using a special excavator.

Herten Castle (German: Schloss Herten) is a moated castle situated in the town of Herten in the administrative district of Recklinghausen in the state of North Rhine Westphalia, Germany. It is located within an old English landscape garden and its first mentioning dates back to 1376. In 1962, the main castle building was declared a cultural heritage monument. While foundations of today's main castle building incorporate elements from the 14th-century building, the buildings visible today were built in the 16th and 17th century by Coesfeld architect Henric de Suer and his son Johann. They were built for the families Stecke and Nesselrode. After the First World War, the main castle building was no longer used as a residence and started to deteriorate. Subsidence caused by the widespread sub-surface mining in the surrounding industrial Ruhr area added to the structural damage, bringing the castle buildings close to collapse. Only radical restoration measures taken by the Regional Association of Westphalia-Lippe (German: Landschaftsverband Westfalen-Lippe) from 1974 to 1989 saved the late Gothic castle complex from total decline. Today it is used as a venue for concerts, cultural events and festivities. It also houses a café. The castle's park is popular for walking, picknicking, jogging and biking.

Recklinghausen (German pronunciation: [ˌʁɛklɪŋˈhaʊzn̩] (listen); Westphalian: Riäkelhusen) is the northernmost city in the Ruhr-Area and the capital of the Recklinghausen district. It borders the rural Münsterland and is characterized by large fields and farms in the north and industry in the south. Recklinghausen is the 60th-largest city in Germany and the 22nd-largest city in North Rhine-Westphalia.
