United States Army Medical Department Center and School

The Towers on Park Lane is a 23-story building in the Brackenridge Park area of San Antonio, Texas, USA. It is the tallest residential building in the city and the tallest building outside of Downtown.

The San Antonio Botanical Garden is a 33-acre (130,000 m2), non-profit botanical garden in San Antonio, Texas, United States, and the city's official botanical garden.

Fort Sam Houston is a U.S. Army post in San Antonio, Texas. Known colloquially as "Fort Sam," it is named for the U.S. Senator from Texas, U.S. Representative from Tennessee, Tennessee and Texas Governor, and first President of the Republic of Texas, Sam Houston. The installation's missions include serving as the command headquarters for the United States Army North (formerly the Fifth United States Army), United States Army South, the Army Medical Command (MEDCOM) headquarters, the Army Medical Department (AMEDD) Center and School, the Fifth Recruiting Brigade, Navy Regional Recruiting, the San Antonio Military Entrance and Processing Station, and the Medical Education and Training Campus (METC). On October 1, 2010, Fort Sam Houston joined Lackland Air Force Base and Randolph Air Force Base to create Joint Base San Antonio, under Air Force administration.

The U.S. Army Medical Department Museum — or AMEDD Museum — at Fort Sam Houston, San Antonio, Texas, originated as part of the Army's Field Service School at Carlisle Barracks, Pennsylvania. It moved to Fort Sam Houston in 1946. It is currently a component of the U.S. Army Medical Department Center and School. The museum features the history of the Army Medical Department from 1775 to the present, as well as medical contributions of the Army during times of peace and war. General areas covered are significant historical events, scientific and technological advances, development of the medical field service and contributions of key officers and enlisted personnel. Audio-visual presentations introduce the history of the Department. Two large galleries house the medical equipment, uniforms, medals, insignia and artwork that make up the museum's exhibits. Museum holdings include material on medical personnel, POWs in World War II's Pacific Theater, unit insignia and archival documents and photographs. The museum has been chosen to preserve historic artifacts from Naval Hospital Corps School Great Lakes. BRAC 2005 resulted in transferred of Corps School from Chicago to the Medical Education and Training Campus (METC), also located on Fort Sam Houston.

Joint Base San Antonio (JBSA) is a United States military facility located in San Antonio, Texas, USA. The facility is under the jurisdiction of the United States Air Force 502d Air Base Wing, Air Education and Training Command (AETC). The wing's three Mission Support Groups perform the installation support mission at the three bases that form JBSA.The facility is a Joint Base of the United States Army Fort Sam Houston, the United States Air Force Randolph Air Force Base, Lackland Air Force Base and Martindale Army Airfield, which were merged on 1 October 2010.

The Broadway is a high-rise condominium tower in San Antonio, Texas, USA. It is located northwest of Mahncke Park at the intersection of Hildebrand Avenue and Broadway, east of the University of the Incarnate Word. The 21-story tower contains 90 residences. It was designed by Ziegler Cooper Architects and completed in 2010. At an architectural height of 279 feet, The Broadway is the second tallest skyscraper in Midtown San Antonio.

Mahncke Park is an urban neighborhood and park located on the eastern fringe of Midtown San Antonio, Texas, USA. The park connects the San Antonio Botanical Gardens to Brackenridge Park. The surrounding neighborhood was built around Mahncke Park. The park is a long, narrow strip of natural green space laid out on an east–west axis between Parland and Funston Streets. The east end is bounded by N. New Braunfels and the Botanical Gardens and the west end is bounded by Broadway and Brackenridge Park. The Midtown San Antonio neighborhood is within walking distance of: Fort Sam Houston, San Antonio Botanical Gardens, DoSeum Children's Museum, Japanese Tea Garden, San Antonio Zoo, Brackenridge Park, the Witte Museum, Lions Field Park and the Brackenridge Golf Course. By car, the neighborhood is 5-10 minutes from Pearl Brewery, Downtown, Alamo Heights, and major freeways. Most of the homes in the neighborhood range in size from 1,000 sq ft (100 m2) to 2,000 sq ft (200 m2) and were constructed during the 1920s through the 1950s. Pre-World War II housing architecture consists primarily of bungalows built in styles of Mission, Four Square, California and Cottage Tudor. The University of the Incarnate Word (UIW) is a private, Catholic university with its main campus in San Antonio and Alamo Heights, Texas. Founded in 1881 by the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word, the university's main campus is located on 154 acres (0.6 km2). The university operates an all-girls high school, Incarnate Word High School, as well as a co-educational high school, St. Anthony Catholic High School. It also operates two elementary schools, St. Anthony's and St. Peter Prince of the Apostles, through its Brainpower Connection program.

Miraflores Park, originally called just Miraflores and sometimes called Miraflores Alumni Park, is a sculpture garden in San Antonio, Texas. Originally established about 1921 as a private garden for Aureliano Urrutia, it features several works by Mexican-American artist Dionicio Rodriguez. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places on June 14, 2006.

Terrell Hills is a city in Bexar County, Texas, United States; it is located 5 miles (8 km) northeast of downtown San Antonio. As of the 2010 census Terrell Hills had a population of 4,878. It is part of a group of three cities—Terrell Hills, Alamo Heights, and Olmos Park—located between Uptown San Antonio, Midtown San Antonio, Downtown San Antonio, and Fort Sam Houston (a U.S. Army post). Terrell Hills is bordered on the west by Alamo Heights, on the east by Fort Sam Houston, on the north by Uptown San Antonio, and on the south by San Antonio's Near East Side. It is part of the San Antonio Metropolitan Statistical Area. The community is named after Dr. Frederick Terrell, a local bank president who had served as mayor of San Antonio in 1901. Development of the community began in 1919, when Dr. Terrell sold 22.5 acres (9.1 ha) of property to a private association called the Terrell Hills Community. This organization managed the community until 1939, when it incorporated as a municipality. In 1945, the City of San Antonio attempted to annex the new municipality without permitting an election in either Terrell Hills or San Antonio, but Terrell Hills successfully sued to block the annexation.

San Antonio Springs (also known as the Blue Hole) is a cluster of springs in Bexar County, Texas. These springs provide a large portion of the water for the San Antonio River, which flows from San Antonio to the Gulf of Mexico. The San Pedro Springs also feed into the San Antonio River.

The Brackenridge Park Bridge is a historic iron Lenticular truss bridge located in San Antonio, Texas. The bridge was built in 1890 and remains open for vehicular and pedestrian traffic. Composed of a single truss of just over 95 feet (29 m), it is one of the shortest lenticular truss bridges in the country and one of just eight located west of the Mississippi River. The bridge is a contributing property to the Brackenridge Park Historic District, which was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in August 2011.
