University of the Incarnate Word

Miraflores Park, originally called just Miraflores and sometimes called Miraflores Alumni Park, is a sculpture garden in San Antonio, Texas. Originally established about 1921 as a private garden for Aureliano Urrutia, it features several works by Mexican-American artist Dionicio Rodriguez. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places on June 14, 2006.

San Antonio Springs (also known as the Blue Hole) is a cluster of springs in Bexar County, Texas. These springs provide a large portion of the water for the San Antonio River, which flows from San Antonio to the Gulf of Mexico. The San Pedro Springs also feed into the San Antonio River.

The McDermott Center is a 2,000-seat multi-purpose arena in San Antonio, Texas on the campus of the University of the Incarnate Word. Built in 1989, it is home to the Incarnate Word Cardinals men's and women's basketball teams and the women's volleyball team.

The Broadway is a high-rise condominium tower in San Antonio, Texas, USA. It is located northwest of Mahncke Park at the intersection of Hildebrand Avenue and Broadway, east of the University of the Incarnate Word. The 21-story tower contains 90 residences. It was designed by Ziegler Cooper Architects and completed in 2010. At an architectural height of 279 feet, The Broadway is the second tallest skyscraper in Midtown San Antonio.

Gayle and Tom Benson Stadium is a stadium in San Antonio, Texas. It is the home field for the men's and women's soccer, track and field, and American football teams of the University of the Incarnate Word. The stadium currently seats 6,000 people. It is named after Tom Benson and his wife Gayle. Record stadium attendance of 6,498 was recorded in a game vs Houston Baptist on November 17, 2016.

The Brackenridge Park Bridge is a historic iron Lenticular truss bridge located in San Antonio, Texas. The bridge was built in 1890 and remains open for vehicular and pedestrian traffic. Composed of a single truss of just over 95 feet (29 m), it is one of the shortest lenticular truss bridges in the country and one of just eight located west of the Mississippi River. The bridge is a contributing property to the Brackenridge Park Historic District, which was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in August 2011.

Sullivan Field is a baseball park located in San Antonio, Texas, United States. It is the home of the University of the Incarnate Word Cardinals baseball team of the NCAA Division I Southland Conference. It opened on April 8, 1989 with a 5–2 win over their cross-town rival, the St. Mary's Rattlers. Lights were added before the 2004 season so that night baseball would be possible.

The San Antonio Zoo is an Association of Zoos and Aquariums-accredited zoo in Midtown San Antonio, Texas, United States. It is located in the city's Brackenridge Park. San Antonio Zoo is a 50+ acre zoo home to over 750 species, some of which are endangered or extinct in the wild, and an annual attendance of more than 1 million. It also runs non-animal attractions, such as the 2 ft (610 mm) narrow gauge San Antonio Zoo Eagle train ride, which first opened in 1956 and utilizes three Chance Rides C.P. Huntington locomotives.The Richard Friedrich Aquarium was opened in 1948. It was the only aquarium in the city until SeaWorld San Antonio was opened in 1988.

Mahncke Park is an urban neighborhood and park located on the eastern fringe of Midtown San Antonio, Texas, USA. The park connects the San Antonio Botanical Gardens to Brackenridge Park. The surrounding neighborhood was built around Mahncke Park. The park is a long, narrow strip of natural green space laid out on an east–west axis between Parland and Funston Streets. The east end is bounded by N. New Braunfels and the Botanical Gardens and the west end is bounded by Broadway and Brackenridge Park. The Midtown San Antonio neighborhood is within walking distance of: Fort Sam Houston, San Antonio Botanical Gardens, DoSeum Children's Museum, Japanese Tea Garden, San Antonio Zoo, Brackenridge Park, the Witte Museum, Lions Field Park and the Brackenridge Golf Course. By car, the neighborhood is 5-10 minutes from Pearl Brewery, Downtown, Alamo Heights, and major freeways. Most of the homes in the neighborhood range in size from 1,000 sq ft (100 m2) to 2,000 sq ft (200 m2) and were constructed during the 1920s through the 1950s. Pre-World War II housing architecture consists primarily of bungalows built in styles of Mission, Four Square, California and Cottage Tudor. Post-World War II housing architecture consists mainly of Ranch-style dwellings. The neighborhood today has an eclectic mix of residents from all backgrounds and persuasions. Incarnate Word High School is a private, Roman Catholic, all-girls high school in Midtown San Antonio, Texas, United States. It was established in 1881 and located in the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of San Antonio. It is a division of the University of the Incarnate Word.

Olmos Dam is a detention dam located in San Antonio, Texas. It was built in the 1920s, following the disastrous September 1921 San Antonio floods. Work began on the dam on January 19, 1925, completed in 1926, and in 1929 a cut-off channel, to allow excess water to bypass the Great Bend in downtown, was completed. Projects, which together have been providing flood control.In the 1970s, improvements were made by the City of San Antonio and the San Antonio River Authority. In March 1979, an improvement was made to strengthen and anchor the dam, as well as modifying gate operations, in order to provide an emergency spillway.There are six gates within the dam, two of which are open at all times to a height of 2 ft (0.61 m). They are rotated once a week. Each gate is controlled via an actuator that is situated inside the dam's gatehouse. San Antonio Express-News history columnist Paula Allen has referred to the dam as "the jewel in the crown of San Antonio’s system of flood control."It has become a "staple structure north of downtown San Antonio."Excavations in the area around Olmos Dam, both prior to the dam's construction in the 1920s and in subsequent excavations such as in 1979, have yielded a good number of Native American artifacts.
