Fort Sam Houston

The U.S. Army Medical Department Museum — or AMEDD Museum — at Fort Sam Houston, San Antonio, Texas, originated as part of the Army's Field Service School at Carlisle Barracks, Pennsylvania. It moved to Fort Sam Houston in 1946. It is currently a component of the U.S. Army Medical Department Center and School. The museum features the history of the Army Medical Department from 1775 to the present, as well as medical contributions of the Army during times of peace and war. General areas covered are significant historical events, scientific and technological advances, development of the medical field service and contributions of key officers and enlisted personnel. Audio-visual presentations introduce the history of the Department. Two large galleries house the medical equipment, uniforms, medals, insignia and artwork that make up the museum's exhibits. Museum holdings include material on medical personnel, POWs in World War II's Pacific Theater, unit insignia and archival documents and photographs. The museum has been chosen to preserve historic artifacts from Naval Hospital Corps School Great Lakes. BRAC 2005 resulted in transferred of Corps School from Chicago to the Medical Education and Training Campus (METC), also located on Fort Sam Houston.

The Towers on Park Lane is a 23-story building in the Brackenridge Park area of San Antonio, Texas, USA. It is the tallest residential building in the city and the tallest building outside of Downtown.

The U.S. Army Medical Center of Excellence (MEDCoE) is located at Fort Sam Houston, Joint Base San Antonio, Texas. MEDCoE comprises the Academy of Health Sciences (AHS), the 32d Medical Brigade, and the AMEDD Noncommissioned Officers Academy (NCOA). MEDCoE enables effective and efficient integration and synchronization of Army Medical Department (AMEDD) Doctrine, Organization, Training, Material, Leadership, Personnel and Facility, and Policy (DOTMLPF-P) development to ensure the latest solutions to any perceived or predicted Army Medicine gaps are documented and incorporated into doctrine and instruction. Although its institutional lineage dates back to 1920, the present "CoE" was established by permanent order of the Department of the Army in 2018 after realignment from the U.S. Army Medical Command (MEDCOM) to the U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC), with operational control by the U.S. Army Combined Arms Center (CAC).

Joint Base San Antonio (JBSA) is a United States military facility located in San Antonio, Texas, USA. The facility is under the jurisdiction of the United States Air Force 502d Air Base Wing, Air Education and Training Command (AETC). The wing's three Mission Support Groups perform the installation support mission at the three bases that form JBSA.The facility is a Joint Base of the United States Army Fort Sam Houston, the United States Air Force Randolph Air Force Base, Lackland Air Force Base and Martindale Army Airfield, which were merged on 1 October 2010.

Splashtown San Antonio was a water park located in San Antonio, Texas, USA. Its most recent name was "Splashtown USA". The park opened in 1985 as Water Park USA. It was sold to Wave Management, its second owner, in 1989. Its third owner since it opened was Chrismari Inc. of San Antonio. Chrismari Inc. bought it in 1991 and formed Surf San Antonio Inc. to manage the property, with Keith D. Kinney serving as president and general manager. International Theme Park Services Inc. announced in 2005 that it was looking for a buyer for it. During 2006, Mr. Kinney bought out the other shareholders' interest in the property and became the sole owner. Located on the city's inner northeast side downtown, the park featured a half-million-gallon wave pool, a quarter-mile-long lazy river, 40 water slides and tube rides (including 18 for guests under 48 inches (120 cm) tall), an activity pool with lily pads and balance logs, water and beach volleyball, and basketball. In October 2021, it was announced that Splashtown San Antonio would close to make way for a car dealership.

The San Antonio Botanical Garden is a 33-acre (130,000 m2), non-profit botanical garden in San Antonio, Texas, United States, and the city's official botanical garden.

The Center for the Intrepid is a rehabilitation facility to treat amputees and burn victims. It is located next to the San Antonio Military Medical Center at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas. It was specifically built to provide care for United States servicemen and women who have served in military operations in the Iraq War and the War in Afghanistan. Veterans from previous conflicts are also eligible to receive treatment as well as other military personnel who have sustained injuries in other operations, training exercises, or in non-combat situations. It provides training to help disabled servicemen use prosthetics, perform everyday tasks, and reintegrate with society.The 4-story, 65,000-square-foot (6,000 m2) facility was officially dedicated on January 29, 2007. Guests attending the ceremony included United States Senators John McCain and Hillary Clinton. The structure was financed entirely by private donations through the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund. Over 600,000 people contributed to the $50 million construction cost.

Terrell Hills is a city in Bexar County, Texas, United States; it is located 5 miles (8 km) northeast of downtown San Antonio. As of the 2010 census Terrell Hills had a population of 4,878. It is part of a group of three cities—Terrell Hills, Alamo Heights, and Olmos Park—located between Uptown San Antonio, Midtown San Antonio, Downtown San Antonio, and Fort Sam Houston (a U.S. Army post). Terrell Hills is bordered on the west by Alamo Heights, on the east by Fort Sam Houston, on the north by Uptown San Antonio, and on the south by San Antonio's Near East Side. It is part of the San Antonio Metropolitan Statistical Area. The community is named after Dr. Frederick Terrell, a local bank president who had served as mayor of San Antonio in 1901. Development of the community began in 1919, when Dr. Terrell sold 22.5 acres (9.1 ha) of property to a private association called the Terrell Hills Community. This organization managed the community until 1939, when it incorporated as a municipality. In 1945, the City of San Antonio attempted to annex the new municipality without permitting an election in either Terrell Hills or San Antonio, but Terrell Hills successfully sued to block the annexation.

Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery is a United States National Cemetery in the city of San Antonio in Bexar County, Texas. Administered by the United States Department of Veterans Affairs, it encompasses 154.7 acres (62.6 ha), and as of 2014, had over 144,000 interments. The cemetery was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2016.

Brooke Army Medical Center (BAMC) is the United States Army's premier medical institution. Located on Fort Sam Houston, BAMC, a 425-bed Academic Medical Center, is the Department of Defense's largest facility and only Level 1 Trauma Center. BAMC is also home to the Center for the Intrepid, an outpatient rehabilitation facility. The center is composed of ten separate organizations, including community medical clinics, centered around the Army's largest in-patient hospital. BAMC is staffed by more than 8,000 Soldiers, Airmen, Sailors, Civilians, and Contractors providing care to wounded Service Members and the San Antonio Community at-large.

Dodd Army Airfield was an airfield located within the current boundaries of Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas. Dodd Field includes the area bounded on the north by Rittiman Road, on the west by Harry Wurzbach Memorial Highway, on the south by Winans (formerly Dashiell) Road and on the east by the Fort Sam Houston Reservation boundary.
