The South Carolina School for the Deaf and the Blind is a school in unincorporated Spartanburg County, South Carolina, United States, near Spartanburg and with a Spartanburg postal address. It was founded in 1849 by the Reverend Newton Pinckney Walker as a private school for students who were deaf. The School for the Blind was established in 1855, and the school became state funded in 1856.Previously students were under de jure educational segregation in the United States with black students separate. In 1967 the school racially integrated.The School for the Multihandicapped was established in 1977, and the school began providing outreach services in the mid-1980s.

It was first listed as a CDP prior to the 2020 census. The population as of 2020 was 2,428.The CDP is in eastern Spartanburg County and is bordered to the northwest by the city of Spartanburg. It is bordered to the south by unincorporated Camp Croft. U.S. Route 176 (South Pine Street) is the main road through the community, leading northwest 3 miles (5 km) to the center of Spartanburg and southeast 22 miles (35 km) to Union. South Carolina Highway 9 runs with US 176 along South Pine Street but leads east-southeast 45 miles (72 km) to Chester. The W Line of the Norfolk Southern Railway forms the southern border of the CDP.

Camp Croft is an unincorporated area and census-designated place (CDP) in Spartanburg County, South Carolina, United States. It was first listed as a CDP prior to the 2020 census. The 2020 census lists a population of 2,110.The CDP is in eastern Spartanburg County and is bordered to the north by Ben Avon. South Carolina Highway 295 (Southport Road) forms the northern border of the CDP; Spartanburg is 5 miles (8 km) to the northwest, and Pacolet is 7 miles (11 km) to the east. The Creek Golf Club is in the center of the community, and Kelsey Creek, a south-flowing tributary of Fairforest Creek and part of the Tyger River watershed, forms the southwest boundary. Croft State Park borders the community to the south.

Duncan Park is a stadium in Spartanburg, South Carolina. It is primarily used for baseball and is currently the home of the Spartanburg High School baseball team and the Spartanburg Post 28 American Legion Baseball (ALB) team. The ballpark has a capacity of 3,000 people and opened in 1926. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2016.

Spartanburg County School District 7 (SCSD7) is a public school district in Spartanburg County, South Carolina, United States. The district includes most of the city of Spartanburg, as well as all of Ben Avon, Drayton and Whitney, most of Camp Croft, and portions of Arkwright, Hilltop, and Saxon. SCSD7 is led by Superintendent Jeff Stevens, a former principal at Spartanburg High School; he assumed the role of superintendent in July 2020.As of the 2021–22 academic term, Spartanburg County School District 7 serves more than 7,000 students across 11 schools. SCSD7 also hosts several alternative institutions, as well two early college programs and a virtual learning initiative.Spartanburg County School District 7 was established in 1884. It is a small, urban, majority-minority district. About 80% of students served by the district live in poverty. 86% of students educated in SCSD7 graduate, and an annual average of 84% of students go on to pursue a post-secondary education.

Pine Street Elementary School is a public elementary school located at 500 South Pine Street in Spartanburg, South Carolina. It serves children from kindergarten through fifth grade and is part of Spartanburg County School District 7. Its school building, constructed in 1928–29, is a prominent local example of Beaux Arts architecture, and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2016. It is the oldest continuously operating school in Spartanburg County.

Converse Heights Historic District is a national historic district located at Spartanburg, Spartanburg County, South Carolina. It encompasses 460 contributing buildings in a residential section of Spartanburg. The district documents the prevalent housing types for middle and upper class citizens from about 1900 to 1940. It includes residences representative of the Queen Anne, American Foursquare, American Craftsman, Spanish Mission, Tudor, Colonial Revival, and Neo-Classical styles.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2007.

The Evans-Russell House is a Neo-Classical Revival house in Spartanburg, South Carolina that was built for Governor John Gary Evans in 1901. Later, it was the home of Senator Donald S. Russell. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2007.

Walter Scott Montgomery House is a historic home located at Spartanburg, Spartanburg County, South Carolina. It was designed by architect George Franklin Barber and built in 1909. It is a 2+1⁄2-story, frame, yellow brick-veneer residence in the Colonial Revival style. building is of frame construction with a yellow brick veneer and a red tile roof. It features a distinctive portico and leaded glass windows. Also on the property is a one-story, reinforced concrete auto garage (c. 1923).It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.

Mary H. Wright Elementary School is a former school building in Spartanburg, South Carolina. It was constructed in 1951 as part of SC Governor James F. Byrnes's attempt to establish "separate but equal" facilities in order to avoid desegregation of schools. After integration, it continued to serve as an elementary school until 2001, when a new school of the same name was constructed nearby. The building served as a learning center and then a housing authority office over the next several years until it was left vacant in 2016. In 2022, it was renovated into Schoolhouse Lofts, a 53-unit apartment development.It was named to the National Register of Historic Places on August 3, 2007.

George Washington Carver High School was a public high school located in Spartanburg, South Carolina. This historically black school was named for George Washington Carver.
