Trnovec, Videm

Sela (pronounced [ˈseːla]) is a settlement on the left bank of the Polskava River south of Ptuj in eastern Slovenia. It belongs to the Municipality of Videm and forms a more or less continuous settlement together with Barislovci. The area traditionally belonged to the Styria region. It is now included in the Drava Statistical Region.The local church, built 1904 and dedicated to the Holy Family, although technically in Barislovci, is known locally as the church at Sela. There is also a small chapel-shrine with a belfry at the village crossroads. It was built in 1920.

It is now included with the rest of the Municipality of Kidričevo in the Drava Statistical Region.During the First World War in 1915, the abandoned local cemetery was used as a burial ground for 2,340 soldiers of various nationalities. In 1917 a small Neo-Baroque chapel was built on the site.

The area is part of the traditional region of Styria. It is now included with the rest of the municipality in the Drava Statistical Region.The parish church in the settlement is dedicated to Saint Martin and belongs to the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Maribor. It is a late 14th-century church that was greatly expanded in a rebuilding in 1874.A number of archaeological sites close to the settlement show that the area has been settled since prehistory. Of particular interest are the finds associated with the nearby Roman town of Poetovio.
