Hillcrest is a residential community in Broome County, New York in the town of Fenton, directly north of Binghamton. To the north of Hillcrest is the Chenango Bridge and the village of Port Dickinson Hillcrest contains numerous single-family homes, a high school, two public parks, three churches, a public library, a cemetery, numerous industries and businesses, and a central plaza area within walking distance of most homes that includes a gas station, family-run Italian restaurant, ice cream parlor, diner, and other businesses. It lies in Broome County, and borders I-88 and the Chenango River.

The Ice House Sports Complex is a 1,200-seat ice rink located in Chenango, New York.The Ice House is home to the Binghamton University Bearcats club ice hockey team competing in the American Collegiate Hockey Association as members of the Northeast Collegiate Hockey League, and was the 2010-11 home of the Broome County Barons playing in Federal Hockey League (FHL), a minor professional ice hockey league.In 2023, the Ice House serves as home to local high school hockey, local figure skating, youth and adult recreational hockey leagues, as well as public skating. The Ice House also has a sports bar located on the second floor of the facility, known as the Fire & Ice Sports Bar and Grill. The rink served as the home of the Binghamton Jr. Senators playing in the Tier III Junior A Atlantic Junior Hockey League until 2010, when the team moved to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, Pennsylvania, to become the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights.

The Broome County Alms House, was located in the town of Dickinson, three miles north of Binghamton in Broome county, New York. The red brick building operated as a shelter for the poor, take care of the sick, disabled, mentally unwell, widowed, and orphaned persons in the community until c. 1960. The goal of the almshouse was to both help break the cycle of poverty and to care for members of the community who had no means of caring take of themselves. The building was demolished on February 5, 2010.

SUNY Broome Community College (BCC or SUNY Broome) is a public community college in Broome County, New York. It is part of the State University of New York (SUNY). The college was founded in 1946 and has gone through several name changes. The school is located in the Town of Dickinson, just north of the City of Binghamton, New York. The college had a 2010 enrollment of over 6,000 students and has alumni of over 41,000. SUNY Broome serves students from a single campus on Upper Front Street in Dickinson, New York, though some classes are taught in Waverly, Owego, and within the City of Binghamton at smaller classroom centers. The campus' fifteen buildings comprise 610,000 square feet (57,000 m2) of space and feature athletic facilities such as baseball fields, soccer field, publicly accessible tennis courts, the Dick Baldwin Gym, named after the third winningest college basketball coach across both two- and four-year colleges, and the SUNY Broome Ice Center - a 758 seat hockey arena that is used by a variety of different local ice hockey & figure skating organizations throughout the community.
