Eckington railway station

Eckington is a small village near to the southern border of the English county of Worcestershire, according to the 2001 census it had a population of 1,202. The village is surrounded by the River Avon and often experiences flooding on its entry roads. It is situated at the north-west side of Bredon Hill, an outcrop of the Cotswolds. The nearest towns to Eckington and also situated along the River Avon are Pershore which is 4 miles (6 km) north and Evesham 10 miles (16 km) north east. The historic town of Tewkesbury is situated 8 miles (13 km) south west on the River Severn which river also runs through the nearest city of Worcester (13 miles (21 km) from Eckington). Eckington is renowned for Eckington Bridge, which is the subject of a poem by Arthur Quiller-Couch, its village cross and its Norman-period church. It has a thriving first school, the Eckington Church of England First School, a scout hut with surrounding recreation grounds, home to village's football and cricket teams, and a well used village hall. Eckington has a village shop and 2 hairdressers. It currently has two pubs The Bell and The Anchor, both offering food and guest accommodation; a third pub, The Crown, closed in the early 1990s. Eckington railway station was located on the Bristol to Birmingham Line main railway line. It closed in January 1965. One of the Pilgrim Fathers, George Soule, is believed to have come from the village.

Eckington Bridge is a stone bridge over the River Avon in Eckington in the English county of Worcestershire. It is a Grade II* listed building and has been scheduled as an ancient monument.The first bridge at the site was built in 1440, replacing an earlier ferry, but this fell into disrepair and was replaced by the current stone bridge in the 1720s. It consists of six arches built of red sandstone with the piers being protected by cutwaters.On the northern side of the bridge, slightly downstream, is a World War II pillbox. During 2011 and 2012 repairs were undertaken by Worcestershire County Council at a cost of £240,000.Next to the bridge is Eckington Wharf, which is no longer used commercially but provides public moorings, a canoe launching slipway and picnic area. The bridge is the subject of a poem by Arthur Quiller-Couch, and a picture from 1929 by Walter J. Phillips.In 2022 a collision between two cars on the bridge caused damage and a car entered the river. The driver of that car died.

The Bow Brook is a substantial brook that flows for 28.8 miles (46.3 km) through Worcestershire, England. It is a lower tributary of the River Avon which it joins near Defford downstream of Eckington Bridge. Its principal tributaries include the Stoulton, Dean, and Seeley brooks.

It is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade I listed building, and is under the care of the Churches Conservation Trust. Strensham services is a motorway service station on the M5 in Worcestershire, England. It is operated by Roadchef. In August 2011, it was rated as 4 stars (southbound) and 3 stars (northbound) by quality assessors at Visit England.Unusually for a motorway service station, the two sites are about 0.5 miles (0.80 km) apart due to the proximity of junction 8 (for the M50 motorway). The services opened with the motorway in 1962 and have undergone many developments over time, largely due to the evolution of the motorway, which at the time of its opening ran from Birmingham to Strensham but now runs to Exeter some 100 miles (160 km) southwards. It was the first service station on the M5. The service station is also an operational base for the Midlands Air Ambulance.

Tiddesley Wood – the Harry Green Reserve is a nature reserve of the Worcestershire Wildlife Trust. It is situated about 1 mile west of Pershore and 7 miles south-east of Worcester, in Worcestershire, England. The reserve is an ancient woodland, and is designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest.
