Strensham

Strensham services is a motorway service station on the M5 in Worcestershire, England. It is operated by Roadchef. In August 2011, it was rated as 4 stars (southbound) and 3 stars (northbound) by quality assessors at Visit England.Unusually for a motorway service station, the two sites are about 0.5 miles (0.80 km) apart due to the proximity of junction 8 (for the M50 motorway). The services opened with the motorway in 1962 and have undergone many developments over time, largely due to the evolution of the motorway, which at the time of its opening ran from Birmingham to Strensham but now runs to Exeter some 100 miles (160 km) southwards. It was the first service station on the M5. The service station is also an operational base for the Midlands Air Ambulance.

St John the Baptist's Church is a redundant Anglican church in the village of Strensham, Worcestershire, England. It is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade I listed building, and is under the care of the Churches Conservation Trust. Clifton-Taylor includes the church in his list of 'best' English parish churches.

Twyning is a village and civil parish on the River Avon in the north of Gloucestershire, near Tewkesbury, England. The parish is first mentioned in the Liber Wigorniensis in about 1016, where it is called Tuinaeum, part of Gretestane in the county of Winchcombeshire and then mentioned in Domesday Book, described as "Tu(e)ninge, Kings Land : Winchcombe Abbey." The name derives from the Old English for "between the rivers"; despite its spelling, it is pronounced "twinning". The parish forms a land 'isthmus' into the county of Worcestershire. The village is divided into two main parts, the older "Churchend", and "Twyning Green". In addition, within the parish are the hamlets of Shuthonger which straddles the A38, Woodend, Hillend and Stratford Bridge on the border with Worcestershire. It has two pubs, The Fleet at Twyning by the river and the Village Inn overlooking the village green. Boats have traditionally ferried people up the river Avon from Tewkesbury to enjoy the Fleet's hospitality. The service operates during summer months. The parish contains large amounts of common land including Brockeridge Common, and extensive meadows bordering the River Avon. There is also a Spar shop which houses a post office, and a primary school of approximately 150 pupils. There are still a number of original black and white Tudor houses. There is recreation complex called TRAC, that contains a park, three tennis courts, a 5-a-side football pitch and a pavilion. The village is fortunate to escape the floods that regularly blight this area, as it is situated on a slope up from the river. However, some properties (especially the riverside Fleet Inn) were affected in the great flood of 2007. The village is surrounded by fishing lakes and various places on the river for anglers.

Hill Croome is a village, and a civil parish which covers 1000 acres, in the Malvern Hills District in the county of Worcestershire, England. Historically a parish in the lower division of the hundred of Oswaldslow, according to the 2001 census the parish had a population of 169. Hill Croome was once part of the Royal forest of Horewell.

Upham Meadow and Summer Leasow (grid reference SO917375) is a 104.0-hectare (257-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest on the border between Gloucestershire and Herefordshire & Worcestershire, at Twyning and near Bredon, notified in 1991.

Eckington railway station was a railway station to serve Eckington in Worcestershire. The station was opened by the Birmingham and Gloucester Railway in 1840. The buildings were "erected in the Gothic style, very much like those on some of the Scotch railways recently opened to the public."The station closed to passengers on 4 January 1965.

Naunton is a village in the parish of Ripple, near Upton-upon-Severn in Worcestershire, England. Records for Naunton date back to the 12th Century, where Naunton was known as Newentone, before changing to Nounton in the 13th Century. It was given by Bishop Theulf (1115–23) to Auda 'Vitrarius'. It was then bought by Adam de Croome around 1125–1150, becoming part of the Earls Croome estate. It subsequently became part of the Ripple parish.Naunton is predominantly residential, with a mix of old farm cottages and new bungalows. Buildings of note include the Grade 2 listed Naunton Farmhouse, and The Thatch.

Eckington is a small village near to the southern border of the English county of Worcestershire, according to the 2001 census it had a population of 1,202. The village is surrounded by the River Avon and often experiences flooding on its entry roads. It is situated at the north-west side of Bredon Hill, an outcrop of the Cotswolds. The nearest towns to Eckington and also situated along the River Avon are Pershore which is 4 miles (6 km) north and Evesham 10 miles (16 km) north east. The historic town of Tewkesbury is situated 8 miles (13 km) south west on the River Severn which river also runs through the nearest city of Worcester (13 miles (21 km) from Eckington). Eckington is renowned for Eckington Bridge, which is the subject of a poem by Arthur Quiller-Couch, its village cross and its Norman-period church. It has a thriving first school, the Eckington Church of England First School, a scout hut with surrounding recreation grounds, home to village's football and cricket teams, and a well used village hall. Eckington has a village shop and 2 hairdressers. It currently has two pubs The Bell and The Anchor, both offering food and guest accommodation; a third pub, The Crown, closed in the early 1990s. Eckington railway station was located on the Bristol to Birmingham Line main railway line. It closed in January 1965. One of the Pilgrim Fathers, George Soule, is believed to have come from the village.

Bredon is a village and civil parish in Wychavon district at the southern edge of Worcestershire in England. It lies on the banks of the River Avon on the lower slopes of Bredon Hill.

Bredon Barn is a large 14th-century threshing barn located at Bredon, Worcestershire, England, standing close to the River Avon.The barn was built for the Bishops of Worcester, who were the lords of the manor, from local Cotswold stone, measuring approximately 40 by 12 metres (131 by 39 ft). It has a steep pitched roof covered in Cotswold limestone tiles. The interior of the barn is divided into 9 bays by oak posts on stone plinths forming aisles, and carrying the open timber roof.It was badly damaged by fire in 1979, but was fully restored in 1983. It is a Scheduled monument and Grade I listed building owned by the National Trust.

Defford railway station was a station in Defford, Worcestershire, England. The station was opened in 1840 and closed in 1965.

The Bow Brook is a substantial brook that flows for 28.8 miles (46.3 km) through Worcestershire, England. It is a lower tributary of the River Avon which it joins near Defford downstream of Eckington Bridge. Its principal tributaries include the Stoulton, Dean, and Seeley brooks.
