Cedar Mill, Ashton-under-Lyne

Curzon Mill, later known as Alger Mill was a cotton spinning mill in the Hurst district of Ashton-under-Lyne, Greater Manchester, in England. It was built between 1899 and 1902 for the Ashton Syndicate by Sydney Stott of Oldham. It was a sister mill to the Atlas Mill. It was sold to the Alger Spinning Co. Ltd in 1911, and closed in 1942. It was then used as a cigarette factory by the J.A. Pattreiouex company until 1966, and then sold to the Qualitex company for the production of artificial fibres. It was still spinning artificial fibres in the 1990s and was demolished in 1994; the site being used for a housing estate.

Ashton United Football Club is a football club in Ashton-under-Lyne, Greater Manchester, England. They are currently members of the Northern Premier League Premier Division, the seventh tier of English football, and play at Hurst Cross.

Great Academy Ashton (formerly New Charter Academy) is a coeducational secondary school with academy status in Ashton-under-Lyne, Greater Manchester, England. The school was formed on 1 September 2008 as a result of a merger between Hartshead Sports College and Stamford High School. New Charter Academy was originally split between the two former school sites, but moved to a new £40 million sole campus in September 2011. Great Academy Ashton is part of the Great Academies Education Trust which also includes Copley Academy and Silver Springs Primary Academy, both in Stalybridge.Great Academy Ashton is sometimes informally known as GAA and used to be called New Charter Academy up until September 2017. The school was placed in special measures in January 2017 and as a result the former headteacher left. The current headteacher has been working at the school since April 2017.

Tameside College is a further education college located in Ashton-under-Lyne, Greater Manchester, England. The college offers a range of courses for students from Tameside and the surrounding area. These courses include NVQs, BTECs, Apprenticeships, Access courses the college also runs adult learning in the evenings. As well as its operations from its main site in Ashton-under-Lyne, the college also operates three Local Learning Centres in Ashton-under-Lyne, Droylsden and Hyde. Tameside College opened a brand new campus in Ashton Town Centre in 2018 as part of the rengeration work within the town. The new campus includes improved facilities and a larger space to accommodate future students. Tameside College also owns and operates Clarendon Sixth Form College also in Ashton-under-Lyne, offering A-Levels to local school-leavers. The College Principal is Jackie Moores.

It serves the surrounding area of Tameside in Greater Manchester, and the town of Glossop and other smaller towns and villages in the north western part of the High Peak district of Derbyshire. Employing approximately 3,800 staff, the Trust provides a range of services both within the hospital and in the local community. This includes Accident and Emergency services, and full consultant-led obstetric and paediatric hospital services for women, children and babies.

Albion Congregational Church was built on Stamford Street East in Ashton-Under-Lyne by John Brooke between 1890 and 95. It is a Grade II listed building.

St Damian's R.C Science College is a coeducational Roman Catholic secondary school located in Ashton-under-Lyne in the English county of Greater Manchester.Established in 1963 as St Damian's Catholic Secondary Modern School, it became a comprehensive school in later years and was also awarded Science College status. As part of the Building Schools for the Future Project a new school building constructed by Carillion was occupied May 2011. Today St Damian's is a voluntary aided school administered by Tameside Metropolitan Borough Council and the Roman Catholic Diocese of Salford.St Damian's RC Science College offers GCSEs, BTECs and Cambridge Nationals as programmes of study for pupils. The school also has a specialism in science.

St. Michael's Church (also known as, St. Michael and All Angels' Church) is an Anglican parish church in Ashton-under-Lyne, Tameside, Greater Manchester, England. The church is a Grade I Listed Building. The church dates back to at least 1262, and a church on the site was mentioned in the Domesday Book. The church was rebuilt in the fifteenth century; however little of the previous church remains after it was rebuilt again in the nineteenth century and is still an active place of worship.

Ashton Ladysmith Cricket Club are an open age English cricket team, based in the town of Ashton-under-Lyne in Tameside, Greater Manchester. The club plays its home games at the Ladysmith Sports Centre on Rose Hill Road, and competes in the North Manchester Cricket League. The club was formerly known as Ashton St. James Cricket Club and played their games on St Albans Avenue in Ashton-under-Lyne.Thanks to lottery funding the club moved to a new ground on Rose Hill Road, and shortly after changed their name to Ashton Ladysmith after Ladysmith Barracks which occupied the site on which the ground is now situated.In October 2007 Ashton Ladysmith's clubhouse was set on fire. Thanks to the work undertaken by its members the clubhouse was re-generated thanks to various funds. In September 2010, the club was awarded a £600 grant for new equipment and coaching expenses, as part of a scheme to reduce anti-social behaviour.In 2015 the club won the Calverley Cup in the final season of the North Manchester Cricket League. Richard Taylor scored a 50 and Joe Walsh took 5 wickets and man of the match but this has not been discussed since.The club has three open age teams, operating in the Greater Manchester Cricket League.
