Tameside General Hospital

Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust is an integrated foundation Trust that operates from Tameside General Hospital situated in Ashton-under-Lyne. It serves the surrounding area of Tameside in Greater Manchester, and the town of Glossop and other smaller towns and villages in the north western part of the High Peak district of Derbyshire. Employing approximately 3,800 staff, the Trust provides a range of services both within the hospital and in the local community. This includes Accident and Emergency services, and full consultant-led obstetric and paediatric hospital services for women, children and babies.

West Hill School is a secondary academy, located in Stalybridge, Greater Manchester, England. Founded in 1927 as a school for only boys, the development in the Tameside borough has had multiple extensions and new buildings. included a new sports hall in 2004 (funded by the National Lottery), a new Resistant Materials/Religious education building in 2013 and a new English and Humanities block called The Hewitt Building in 2015, named in honour of Mr R.J.Hewitt, the school's former headteacher. West Hill School is the second oldest school in the Tameside borough.

Ashton Ladysmith Cricket Club are an open age English cricket team, based in the town of Ashton-under-Lyne in Tameside, Greater Manchester. The club plays its home games at the Ladysmith Sports Centre on Rose Hill Road, and competes in the North Manchester Cricket League. The club was formerly known as Ashton St. James Cricket Club and played their games on St Albans Avenue in Ashton-under-Lyne.Thanks to lottery funding the club moved to a new ground on Rose Hill Road, and shortly after changed their name to Ashton Ladysmith after Ladysmith Barracks which occupied the site on which the ground is now situated.In October 2007 Ashton Ladysmith's clubhouse was set on fire. Thanks to the work undertaken by its members the clubhouse was re-generated thanks to various funds. In September 2010, the club was awarded a £600 grant for new equipment and coaching expenses, as part of a scheme to reduce anti-social behaviour.In 2015 the club won the Calverley Cup in the final season of the North Manchester Cricket League. Richard Taylor scored a 50 and Joe Walsh took 5 wickets and man of the match but this has not been discussed since.The club has three open age teams, operating in the Greater Manchester Cricket League.

Curzon Mill, later known as Alger Mill was a cotton spinning mill in the Hurst district of Ashton-under-Lyne, Greater Manchester, in England. It was built between 1899 and 1902 for the Ashton Syndicate by Sydney Stott of Oldham. It was a sister mill to the Atlas Mill. It was sold to the Alger Spinning Co. Ltd in 1911, and closed in 1942. It was then used as a cigarette factory by the J.A. Pattreiouex company until 1966, and then sold to the Qualitex company for the production of artificial fibres. It was still spinning artificial fibres in the 1990s and was demolished in 1994; the site being used for a housing estate.

Cedar Mill was a cotton spinning mill in the Hurst area of Ashton-under-Lyne, Greater Manchester, in England. It was built between 1903 and 1905 for the Ashton Syndicate by Sydney Stott of Oldham. It was the last mill in Ashton spinning cotton. It ceased in 1980. It was demolished and the land was used for housing.

Tameside College is a further education college located in Ashton-under-Lyne, Greater Manchester, England. The college offers a range of courses for students from Tameside and the surrounding area. These courses include NVQs, BTECs, Apprenticeships, Access courses the college also runs adult learning in the evenings. As well as its operations from its main site in Ashton-under-Lyne, the college also operates three Local Learning Centres in Ashton-under-Lyne, Droylsden and Hyde. Tameside College opened a brand new campus in Ashton Town Centre in 2018 as part of the rengeration work within the town. The new campus includes improved facilities and a larger space to accommodate future students. Tameside College also owns and operates Clarendon Sixth Form College also in Ashton-under-Lyne, offering A-Levels to local school-leavers. The College Principal is Jackie Moores.

Stalybridge railway station serves Stalybridge, Greater Manchester, England. It lies on the Huddersfield Line, 7+1⁄2 miles (12.1 km) east of Manchester Piccadilly and 8+1⁄4 miles (13.3 km) east of Manchester Victoria. The station is managed by TransPennine Express.

Stalybridge railway station was an Ashton, Stalybridge and Liverpool Junction Railway (AS&LJR) station in use from 1846 to 1917, it was the terminus of the company's line from Manchester Victoria. The station was built by the Ashton, Stalybridge and Liverpool Junction Railway (AS&LJR) and opened as the terminus of its 8+1⁄4 miles (13.3 km) Stalybridge branch from Manchester Victoria on 5 October 1846. The station was "a simple structure with one platform". The station was located adjacent to the Sheffield, Ashton-under-Lyne and Manchester Railway (SAMR) Stalybridge station that had opened in 1845, the terminus of that company's line from Guide Bridge. The AS&LJR amalgamated with the Manchester and Leeds Railway (M&LR), and others, to form the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway (L&YR)) on 9 July 1847. The two adjacent stations were combined in 1849 when the owning companies, the L&YR and the MS&LR, agreed to provide a double junction between the branch lines and to open a joint passenger station, but with separate booking offices on the site of the MS&LR station, a joint goods depot with separate warehouses taking the place of the L&YR station. In 1849 the London and North Western Railway (L&NWR) opened a line to Huddersfield from this combined station, and the station came to be jointly owned by the MS&LR and L&NWR but also used by the L&YR. The station continued to be used by all three companies, and despite being enlarged in 1858 and getting refreshment rooms in 1859, it remained unsatisfactory and on 1 October 1869 the L&YR re-opened their original station for passenger use. In 1884 a large goods warehouse was built. In the 1890s the station had one terminal platform with a bay on either side of it. The station building was at the eastern end directly facing Rassbottom Street. A goods shed and warehouse were to the north of the passenger station accessed by small turntables, it was able to accommodate most types of smaller goods including live stock, but not furniture vans etc., it was equipped with a ten-ton crane. The station closed to passengers on 2 April 1917 and to freight on 22 February 1965.

Ashton United Football Club is a football club in Ashton-under-Lyne, Greater Manchester, England. They are currently members of the Northern Premier League Premier Division, the seventh tier of English football, and play at Hurst Cross.
