Prekmurje (Slovene pronunciation: [pɾekˈmúːɾjɛ] ; dialectically: Prèkmürsko or Prèkmüre; Hungarian: Muravidék) is a geographically, linguistically, culturally and ethnically defined region of Slovenia, settled by Slovenes and a Hungarian minority, lying between the Mur River in Slovenia and the Rába Valley (the watershed of the Rába; Slovene: Porabje) in the westernmost part of Hungary. It maintains certain specific linguistic, cultural and religious features that differentiate it from other Slovenian traditional regions. It covers an area of 938 square kilometers (362 sq mi) and has a population of 78,000 people.

Bokrači (pronounced [ˈboːkɾatʃi]; in older sources also Bokreči, Hungarian: Bokrács) is a village in the Municipality of Puconci in the Prekmurje region of Slovenia. It is divided into Spodnji Bokrači (or Spodnja Ves, Slovene: Spodnja ves) with the Fartel, Mlinar, Vukon, and Žagar farms, Zgornji Bokrači (or Zgornja Ves, Slovene: Zgornja ves) with the hamlets of Talaberov Breg and Žgonjarov Breg, and the hamlets of Duge Gomile and Malačičevi.

Martjanci (pronounced [maɾˈtjaːntsi]; Hungarian: Mártonhely) is a village between Murska Sobota and Moravske Toplice in the Prekmurje region of Slovenia.It is known for its parish church dedicated to Saint Martin, from which the village gets its name. It is a single-nave church built in 1392 on the site of an older church. The presbytery is vaulted and covered in frescos by the 14th-century local artist Johannes Aquila (fl. 1378–1392), who also painted the churches in Velemér, Turnišče, and Fürstenfeld. The paintings are signed and a self-portrait of the artist is included in the scheme. It is among the earliest European self-portraits. The main altar was created in marble in 1925 based on plans by the architect Jože Plečnik (1872–1957). The Martjanci hymnal (Slovene: Martjanska pesmarica) was compiled in Martjanci in a mixture of Prekmurje Slovene and Kajkavian dialect in the 16th and 17th centuries. This manuscript hymnal, kept at the university library in Maribor, is an exceptionally important literary monument because of its contents and the use of dialect, which influenced later transcriptions of Prekmurje folk songs.The writers Miklós Legén, Mihály Terplán, József Pusztai, and József Bagáry lived in the village.

Krnci (pronounced [ˈkəɾntsi]; Hungarian: Lendvakislak) is a small village in the Municipality of Moravske Toplice in the Prekmurje region of Slovenia.There is a small chapel in a free-standing belfry in the cemetery outside the village.

Andrejci (pronounced [anˈdɾeːi̯tsi]; Hungarian: Andorhegy) is a settlement north of Martjanci in the Municipality of Moravske Toplice in the Prekmurje region of Slovenia.There is a small Lutheran chapel with a three-storey belfry in the settlement. It was built in 1925.

The writer István Szelmár also lived in the village.

Puconci (pronounced [ˈpuːtsɔntsi]; in older sources also Pucinci, Hungarian: Battyánd, Prekmurje Slovene: Püconci) is a town in the Prekmurje region in northeastern Slovenia. It is the seat of the Municipality of Puconci. Prior to 1920 it was known as Battyánd.
