Stanislaus National Forest is a U.S. National Forest which manages 898,099 acres (1,403.3 sq mi; 3,634.5 km2) of land in four counties in the Sierra Nevada in Northern California. It was established on February 22, 1897, making it one of the oldest national forests. It was named after the Stanislaus River.

Strawberry is an unincorporated community and a census-designated place (CDP) in Tuolumne County, California. Strawberry is located on California State Route 108 10 miles (16 km) northeast of Long Barn. Strawberry has a post office with ZIP code 95375, which opened in 1949. Strawberry sits at an elevation of 5,325 feet (1,623 m). The 2010 United States census reported Strawberry's population was 125.

Pinecrest is an unincorporated community in the Stanislaus National Forest in Tuolumne County, California, United States. Pinecrest is located near Pinecrest Lake northeast of Mi-Wuk Village. Pinecrest Lake sits in what was once a meadow surrounded by granite outcroppings. Originally, Pinecrest Lake was called Strawberry Flat because of the wild strawberries that once grew there. In the 1960s the name was officially changed to Pinecrest. Pinecrest is a community of USFS Recreation Residences authorized by the United States Forest Service under the Occupancy Permits Act. The campground adjacent to the lake is under the white fir, cedar, and sugar pine trees. Pinecrest Lake is the last in a series of dams constructed on the South Fork of the Stanislaus River. In the beginning the purpose was to divert water via ditches and flumes to the mining claims in and around Columbia and the foothills. Much of this aqueduct system remains intact today and is still used as a portion of the main water system for the surrounding area. A large part of the aqueduct in the forest was built with wooden flumes, builders carried portable sawmills into the forest to mill the trees into boards in order to construct the flumes. The present dam at Pinecrest, previously called Lower Strawberry Reservoir Dam, was built by Sierra and San Francisco Power Company for hydroelectric power, the water is managed by Pacific Gas and Electric Company.

Dodge Ridge Wintersports Area is a ski area near Pinecrest, California in Tuolumne County, off of Highway 108, 30 mi (48 km) east of Sonora. The resort is located in the Stanislaus National Forest and operates under a special use permit. Many skiers in Northern California use Dodge Ridge because of its proximity to the San Francisco Bay Area, San Joaquin Valley and Yosemite National Park. The winter sports season typically lasts from late November through mid April. The mountain summit sits at 8,200' above sea level. Dodge Ridge was founded by various individuals, and managed by the Purdy family, in 1950, and then owned by the Helm family from 1976 up until the 2021-2022 season, when it was acquired by Invision Capital and Karl Kapusciniski. Dodge Ridge is a member of Powder Alliance, which offers reciprocal ski passes to season pass holders of various resorts. Beginning in the 2021/2022 season Dodge Ridge began to experiment with "light snowmaking at the base."

Camp Lake is a small tarn located in the Emigrant Wilderness in Tuolumne County, California, approximately 10 km (6.2 mi) north of Yosemite National Park. It is accessible only to hikers and equestrians via the popular Deer Lake Trail. Once a good fishing lake for Brook Trout, Camp Lake is no longer stocked by the California Department of Fish and Game due to the ongoing restoration of the Mountain Yellow Legged Frog in the Sierra Nevada. The lake once suffered from both winter and summer kills and relied on annual plants to sustain the fish population. The lake no longer contains trout.

Long Barn is a census-designated place (CDP) in Tuolumne County, California. Long Barn sits at an elevation of 5,043 feet (1,537 m). The 2010 United States census reported Long Barn's population was 155. Long Barn is located roughly 4 miles northeast of Mi-Wuk Village off State Route 108.

Lyons Dam (National ID # CA00387) is a dam in Tuolumne County, California. The concrete single-arch dam was constructed in 1930 (1930) by the Pacific Gas and Electric Company, with a height of 132 feet (40 m) and a length of 535 feet (163 m) at its crest. It impounds the South Fork Stanislaus River for the municipal water supply of the Twain Harte, California area. Owned and operated by Pacific Gas and Electric Company, the largest private owner of hydroelectric facilities in the United States, it is one of the company's 174 dams. The reservoir it creates, Lyons Reservoir, has a normal water surface of 184 acres (74 ha), and a maximum capacity of 6,400 acre-feet (7,900,000 m3). Recreation includes fishing. The site is surrounded by the Stanislaus National Forest. In 2012, about 625 acres (253 ha) of adjacent land known as the Rushing Meadows parcel was transferred from PG&E's ownership to the National Forest Service, as part of the utility's bankruptcy settlement.

Sierra Village is a census-designated place (CDP) in Tuolumne County, California. It is located roughly 1½ miles northeast of Mi-Wuk Village on State Route 108. Sierra Village sits at an elevation of 4,787 feet (1,459 m). The 2010 United States census reported Sierra Village's population was 456.

Deadwood is an unincorporated community in Tuolumne County, California, United States. Deadwood is 26 miles (42 km) east of Sonora. Deadwood is located along a logging railroad known as the West Side Lumber Company Railroad.
