West Farndon

Woodford cum Membris is a civil parish in Northamptonshire, England. It includes the villages of Woodford Halse and Hinton and the hamlet of West Farndon. The 2011 Census recorded the parish population as 3,393.Since local government changes in 2021 it is part of West Northamptonshire. Before 2021 and after the 1974 reorganisation of local government, the parish had been part of the Daventry District. Before that it was part of Daventry Rural District.

Woodford Halse Nature Reserve is a 5.7-hectare (14-acre) nature reserve south of Woodford Halse in Northamptonshire. It is managed by the Wildlife Trust for Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Northamptonshire.This site in two disused railway cuttings has some plant species which are rare in Northamptonshire. Over 100 flower species have been recorded, including knapweed and devil's bit scabious. There are birds such as fieldfare, redwing, wheatear, lesser whitethroat, yellowhammer and linnet.There is access by a footpath from Woodford Halse.

Hinton is a village about 6.5 miles (10.5 km) south of Daventry in Northamptonshire. The village is the largest settlement in the civil parish of Woodford cum Membris, the others being the village of Woodford Halse and hamlet of West Farndon.

Byfield railway station was a railway station serving Byfield in the English county of Northamptonshire.

Woodford Halse railway station stood on the Great Central Railway (GCR) main line, the last main line to be built from the north of England to London. The station opened with the line on 15 March 1899 under the name Woodford and Hinton and served the adjacent villages of Woodford Halse to the east and Hinton to the west, both in Northamptonshire. The station was renamed Woodford Halse on 1 November 1948.

Eydon is a village and civil parish in West Northamptonshire, about 8 miles (13 km) north-east of Banbury. The parish is bounded to the west by the River Cherwell, to the south by a stream that is one of its tributaries, and to the east and north by field boundaries. Upper Cherwell at Trafford House is an 18.5-hectare (46-acre) geological Site of Special Scientific Interest between Chipping Warden and Eydon in Northamptonshire. It is a Geological Conservation Review site.This site is at the confluence of the River Cherwell and Eydon Brook. They are underfit streams, which have channels are small for the size of their valleys. According to Natural England, the site has played an important role in the development of the theory of underfit streams. Deposits in a paleochannel could enable reconstruction of the environmental history.There is access from a public footpath through the site from Welsh Road.

Hinton and Woodford Halse are separated by the infant River Cherwell and the former course of the Great Central Main Line railway. The village was formerly served by the Great Central Railway, which provided significant local employment, including Woodford Halse railway station which opened in 1899 and closed in 1966.
