Brederode Castle (Dutch: Kasteel Brederode), also called the Ruins of Brederode (Dutch: Ruïne van Brederode), is located near Santpoort-Zuid. The castle was founded in the second half of the 13th century by William I van Brederode (1215–1285). William was a descendant of the lords van Teylingen, who were related to the counts of Holland. The castle formed part of the high lordship Brederode, which had been given in loan in the 13th century to the lords of Brederode by the count of Holland. The name Brederode is a reference to a wooded area called Brede Roede (literally: broad wood), that was cleared and on which the castle was built. The castle was at first not more than a tower, but around 1300 Dirk II van Brederode had the tower pulled down and replaced with a proper castle.

Duin en Kruidberg is a stately home in Santpoort, near Haarlem, the Netherlands. Kruidberg started as a summer house for rich merchants from Amsterdam, then it became a hunting lodge of the prince of Orange, the future king-stadholder, William III (1650–1702). The plans for the Dutch invasion of England were drawn up here, which culminated in the Glorious Revolution of 1688. The estate merged with neighbouring Duin en Berg into Duin en Kruidberg in the 19th century. The current house was constructed by Jacob Theodoor Cremer around 1900 in Dutch Renaissance Revival architecture. The Cremers hosted royalty at the house and held hunting events as well. It was and is one of the largest country houses in the Netherlands. After the Second World War, it became a holiday resort for the employees of a large Dutch bank, ABN AMRO. Later, it was opened for the general public as well. Today, the country house is a hotel restaurant. Most of the surrounding estate is owned by Vereniging Natuurmonumenten and is open for the general public.

De Vrienden van Jacob is a restaurant in Santpoort, Netherlands. In 2008, the restaurant was closed for five months due to extensive renovations to the restaurant and the hotel. The estate is over a 100 years old. Originally it was a conference centre and holiday resort for staff of ABN AMRO. In 2002 the hotel was opened up for the general public and restaurant De Vrienden van Jacob established.

Santpoort-Noord (Dutch pronunciation: [sɑntpoːrt noːrt]) or North Santpoort is a village in the municipality of Velsen in the Dutch province of North Holland. It lies about 6 km (3.7 mi) north of Haarlem. Santpoort developed in the dunes near the Brederode Castle. In 1870, a flower bulb settlement developed near Santpoort. In 1926, the settlement was divided in Santpoort-Noord and Santpoort-Zuid. Santpoort became a commuter's town in the 20th century.

Hockey Club Bloemendaal (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈblumə(n)daːl]), commonly known as Bloemendaal, is a Dutch field hockey club based in Bloemendaal, North Holland. It was established on 26 April 1895, and is one of the oldest field hockey clubs in the Netherlands. Originally, the club also played bandy. HC Bloemendaal is one of the most successful clubs in the Netherlands, with the men's team competing for the title in the highest league ("Hoofdklasse") nearly every year.

Santpoort-Zuid or South Santpoort is a village in the municipality of Velsen in the Dutch province of North Holland. It lies to the west of North Haarlem (Schoten). Santpoort-Zuid is bordered by the village of Bloemendaal to the south and the village of Santpoort-Noord to the north. There is a railway station in the village with a connection to Amsterdam Centraal station. The village is an upscale neighborhood with Dutch professionals residing there. It is one of the rare coastal forested areas protected by large dunes.

Thijsse's Hof (The garden of Thijsse) is a wildlife garden in Bloemendaal, the Netherlands. It was created in 1925 on the occasion of the 60th birthday of Jac. P. Thijsse, naturalist and nature conservationist. It is the oldest wildlife garden in the Netherlands, and one of the oldest of Europe, and in the world. In Thijsse's Hof about 800 species of native plants can be found in South Kennemerland, the region in which Bloemendaal is situated. Most of the plants are grown in natural vegetations. The garden is also a home for many birds. Its full name is Thijsse's Hof; planten- en vogeltuin in het Bloemendaalsche Bosch (Garden of Thijsse : garden for plants and birds in the Bloemendaal Wood).

Chapeau! is a defunct restaurant located in Bloemendaal in the Netherlands. It was a fine dining restaurant that was awarded one Michelin star in the period 2003–2011. In 2012, the restaurant was rewarded two Michelin stars. The retained the two stars until its closure. GaultMillau awarded the restaurant 16.0 out of 20 points.Last head chef was Jan Sobecky. Former head chefs that earned Michelin stars with Chapeau! were Roland Veldhuizen (2003–2005) and Jeroen Granemann (2005–2009). The restaurant closed down on 1 August 2016.Chapeau! was a member of Alliance Gastronomique Néerlandaise.

IJmuiden (Dutch pronunciation: [ˌɛi̯ˈmœy̯də(n)]) is a port city in the Dutch province of North Holland. It is the main town in the municipality of Velsen which lies mainly to the south-east. Including its large sea locks, it straddles the mouth of the North Sea Canal to Amsterdam. To the south it abuts a large reserve of plant-covered dunes, the Zuid-Kennemerland National Park. The city is on the south bank; the north bank is otherwise a steel plant and Velsen-Noord. It is 10 kilometres (6.2 mi) north northwest of Haarlem which is 18 kilometres (11 mi) due west of Amsterdam. The port is a deepwater port suited to fully laden Panamax ships, and fourth port of the Netherlands. The internal capitalization within IJmuiden is as IJ is a digraph in modern Dutch so in some typefaces recognised as a ligature which places it in one typed or handwritten space.

Santpoort Noord railway station is located in Santpoort-Noord, the Netherlands. The station opened 27 September 1957 on the Haarlem–Uitgeest railway. The station has 2 platforms. The station was situated at the junction with the railway to IJmuiden, which closed on 25 September 1983. That line re-opened between 1996 and 1999, when Lovers Rail operated a service between Amsterdam and IJmuiden.
