Herren Tunnel

Herrenwyk power station was a coal-fired power station in Lübeck-Herrenwyk, Germany. It was the first regional power station in Schleswig-Holstein. The power station was owned and operated by Nordwestdeutsche Kraftwerke Aktiengesellschaft (now part of E.ON). Construction of the power station started in 1910 and the power station was commissioned on 11 June 1911. In 1955, a new 25 megawatt (MW) unit was commissioned. In 1992, the Lübeck-Herrenwyk power station was demolished after the bankruptcy and demolition of a local metallurgical plant. There was a proposal to build a new 400 MW power station at the site of the demolished power station. However, in 2000 E.ON abandoned this project because of the existing overcapacity in the electricity market. In 1994, the Baltic Cable's static invertor plant was built on the site of former power station.

Medebek is a river of Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. It flows into the Trave northeast of Lübeck.

Liubice, also known by the German name Alt-Lübeck ("Old Lübeck"), was a medieval West Slavic settlement near the site of modern Lübeck, Germany. Liubice was located at the confluence of the Schwartau with the Trave across from Teerhof Island, approximately four kilometres north of Lübeck's island old town. The residence of Henry, the Christian prince of the Obotrites, Liubice was destroyed after his death by the pagan Rani of Rugia.

German submarine U-1007 was a Type VIIC/41 U-boat of Nazi Germany's Kriegsmarine during World War II. She was ordered on 23 March 1942, and was laid down on 15 February 1943, at Blohm & Voss, Hamburg, as yard number 207. She was launched on 8 December 1943, and commissioned under the command of Kapitänleutnant Hans Hornkohl on 18 January 1944.

Ratekau is a municipality in the district of Ostholstein, in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. It is situated approximately 10 km northeast of Lübeck. It is the place where Blücher surrendered after the Battle of Lübeck in 1806. The village is best known for its well preserved fieldstone church St Vicelin of 1156.

Burgtor Cemetery or Burgtorfriedhof (Castle Gate Cemetery), originally the Allgemeine Gottesacker, is the successor to other cemeteries in Burgtor, Lübeck suburb of St. Gertrud. It was officially opened in 1834 and today covers an area of around eight hectares and around 8700 burial sites.

Bad Schwartau is the largest city in the district of Ostholstein, in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. It is situated on the river Trave and the Schwartau creek, approx. 5 km north of Lübeck. Bad Schwartau is a spa, well known for its iodide saline waters about 13 km from the Baltic Sea.

Brahms-Institut acquired the largest private collection of Johannes Brahms engravings, manuscripts and first and early prints in 1990. In addition to Brahms, the focus is on Robert and Clara Schumann, Theodor Kirchner, Joseph Joachim, and some lesser known performers and composers of the era. In addition to music manuscripts, the collection also includes correspondence, photos, and drawings.

The Wakenitz is a river in southeastern Schleswig-Holstein and at the border to Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. The Wakenitz's source is the Ratzeburger See in Ratzeburg. It is about 14.5 kilometres (9.0 mi) long and drains into the Trave in Lübeck. The majority of its eastern bank forms the border between Schleswig-Holstein and Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. After the end of World War II this river formed part of the Iron Curtain between the Federal Republic of Germany and the German Democratic Republic. The Wakenitz drains an area of about 445 km2 (172 sq mi).
