Newent Town Association Football Club is a football club based in Newent, Gloucestershire, England. They were established in 1920. Affiliated to the Gloucestershire County Football Association, they are currently members of the Hellenic League Division One. The club's nickname is the Daffs.

Newent (; originally called "Noent") is a market town and civil parish in the Forest of Dean in Gloucestershire, England. The town is 11 miles (18 km) north-west of Gloucester. Its population was 5,073 at the 2001 census, rising to 5,207 in 2011, The population was 6,777 at the 2021 Census. Once a medieval market and fair town, its site had been settled at least since Roman times. The first written record of it appears in the 1086 Domesday Book.

Collinpark Wood (grid reference SO750278) is a 66.69-hectare (164.8-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest in Gloucestershire, notified in 1966, revised in 1974 and renotified in 1983. There was a boundary change in 1983. There are seven units of assessment. Unit 1 (grid reference SO747279) is a 15-hectare (37-acre) area owned and managed by the Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust. The trust purchased this part of the wood in 1979 with grant aid from WWF. The site is listed in the 'Forest of Dean Local Plan Review' as a Key Wildlife Site (KWS).The wood lies two miles north-east of Newent in rolling countryside near the River Leadon. The ancient woodland had been managed as coppice for many hundreds of years. Until the 1850s timber from it had been used to produce charcoal for the iron industry. The straight paths within the wood are likely to be tramways. Along the western edge of the wood owned by the Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust is a cutting and embankment. These are evidence of a failed attempt to build a railway line to link Worcester and the Forest of Dean coalfields.The wood is sited on Triassic Keuper Marl rocks. These produce acid soils and influence the flora and fauna of the area.

Upleadon is a village and civil parish situated 10.5 km north-west of Gloucester. Soon after the Norman conquest Upleadon became part of the estates of Gloucester Abbey and was recorded as such in the Domesday Book. Taking advantage of the nearby river, there was a period when iron forges were a focal point for the community but these were subsequently converted into a flour-mill. The village today extends southwards alongside the River Leadon and has a population of 213 according to the Gloucestershire County Council.Standing opposite the parish church, Upleadon Court is a large 18th-century farmhouse, but the asymmetry of its north front suggests that it was built around an older house. The lower timber-framed west wing was built in the late 16th or early 17th century. Several outbuildings also predate the main house.

Newent railway station served the town of Newent in Gloucestershire, England. It opened on 27 July 1885 when the Newent Railway and the Ross and Ledbury Railway (with whom the Newent Railway had an end on connection at Dymock) opened their lines making a connection between Ledbury and Over Junction on the Gloucester and Dean Forest Railway.The station had two platforms on a passing loop, a goods shed to the west and several sidings, one of which was equipped with a 5 ton crane. The goods yard was able to accommodate live stock and a full range of goods.The station was host to a GWR camp coach in 1935, 1938 and 1939.The station closed for passengers on 13 July 1959, but the line remained open for freight traffic until 1964. It was located opposite what is now the Newent fire station. The buttresses of the Station Bridge can be seen intact on nearby Station Road. As of 2011 there was a proposal by the Herefordshire and Gloucestershire Canal Trust to reopen the 34 mile Herefordshire and Gloucestershire Canal upon which the railway was built.

Newent Community School is a secondary school in Newent, Gloucestershire, England. It is an Academy of 1,340 students, serving the town and the rural community. The school provides secondary education for ages 11 to 18. The school offers GCSEs as well as A Levels. In 2001, the school was granted Arts College specialist status. In 2007 the school was also granted Science College as a second specialism. In addition, the school has been awarded Sportsmark Silver, Artsmark Gold and Healthy School. The school became an academy in 2012. The campus consists of 35 acres (140,000 m2) which includes extensive sporting and leisure facilities, including: a floodlit all-weather pitch; sports hall; squash courts; gymnasium; fitness suite and indoor heated swimming pool - all of which are for use by the school and wider community. As a community school, adult education classes, are held both in the school and in the dedicated community rooms. Mark Harper MP was governor between 2000 - 2005.

It lies about 2.5 miles (4.0 km) south-east of Newent, about 2 miles (3.2 km) north-east of Mitcheldean and 7 miles (11 km) west of Gloucester. The parish covers 1,029 hectares (3.97 sq mi) At the time of the 2011 Census, the population of the parish was 438.

In 2011 the parish had a population of 243. The parish touches Dymock, Gorsley and Kilcot, Kempley, Newent and Upton Bishop. Oxenhall has a parish meeting.
