Loch Goil; (Scottish Gaelic: Loch Goil) is a small sea loch forming part of the coast of the Cowal peninsula in Argyll and Bute, Scotland. The sea loch is entirely within the Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park.It is an arm of Loch Long. The village of Lochgoilhead stands at its head. Located in the Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park, Lochgoilhead sits at the head of Loch Goil, a fjord type sea loch. Only an hour from the Erskine Bridge, Glasgow Airport the M8 and Glasgow. The village is accessed from the Rest & Be Thankful pass by way of a 6 miles (10 km) single-track road. The area is surrounded by hills and mountains, with loch views, and a range of accommodation, leisure activities and entertainment. Carrick Castle lies on the west shore 4 miles (6.4 km) south of Lochgoilhead. The landscape at Loch Goil shows its remoteness and Highland grandeur with the Arrochar Alps surrounding with conifers in the Highlands of Scotland. It is used for exercises by Trident submarines from HMNB Clyde at Faslane.In 2014 Loch Goil was declared a Nature Conservation Marine Protected Area (NCMPA).

Carrick Castle is a village on the western shore of Loch Goil, 7 km south of Lochgoilhead by a minor road along the loch shore, on the Cowal peninsula in Argyll and Bute, Scotland. It is within the Argyll Forest Park, and also within the Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park. In 1877 a wooden pier was built at the castle, and a three-storey tenement building called Hillside Place was constructed inland from the castle, to provide apartments for visiting tourists. This was followed by several villas built along the shore road as accommodation for Glasgow merchants, developing what became a small village.The village church is listed on the buildings at risk register of Scotland. There is a path to Ardentinny from Carrick Castle village.

Beinn Lochain is one of the Arrochar Alps at 703 metres (2,306 ft), in the Argyll Highlands. The mountain is situated to the west of Lochgoilhead. It continues the rugged and wild feel of the local area as it sits next to its higher neighbour Beinn Bheula which reaches a height of over 2,500 feet.

Stob na Boine Druim-fhinn is a mountain on the Cowal peninsula in Argyll, Scotland, northwest of Lochgoilhead. On 17 January, 1949, a United States Army Air Forces Boeing B-29 Superfortress (44-62279) of the 31st Test and Evaluation Squadron was on a flight from RAF Scampton, England, to Reykjavík, Iceland. At 9:50am, the B-29 crashed into the side of Stob na Boine Druim-fhinn, killing all twenty passengers and crew. The cause of the crash was not determined, but the adverse weather and heavy icing were deemed to be contributory factors.

Beinn Bheula is a mountain located between Loch Goil and Loch Eck. It is part of the Arrochar Alps range. Beinn Bheula appears rugged from Lochgoilhead, with several summits, the highest of which is Caisteal Dubh (Gaelic for black castle). It is commonly climbed from Loch Goil

Mullach Coire a' Chuir is a rugged mountain near Lochgoilhead in Argyll, Scotland and forms part of the well known Arrochar Alps range. It lies to the west of Glen Goil and is visible from Lochgoilhead.

Tom Molach is a peak within the Ardgoil Peninsula and Arrochar Alps near Lochgoilhead in Argyll, Scotland. The peak reaches a height of 370 metres (1,210 ft).

Clach Bheinn is a hill near Lochgoilhead in the Ardgoil Peninsula and is within the Arrochar Alps. The hill reaches a height of 441 m.

The Saddle is a mountain near Lochgoilhead in The Ardgoil Peninsula in Argyll. It reaches a height of 521m and is in the Arrochar Alps.

Cruach nam Mult is a mountain in the Arrochar Alps, Argyll, Scotland which lies to the southern side of Hell's Glen. The mountain is near Loch Fyne and GlenGoil and is part of the northern side of the area of the Arrochar Alps that follow south to Loch Goil.

The Whistlefield Inn is a Category C listed building in Whistlefield, Argyll and Bute, Scotland, about twelve miles northwest of Dunoon. Built in 1663, it was originally a drover's inn on the route between Strachur and Ardentinny. It sits about 1,300 feet (400 m) from the eastern shores of Loch Eck. Today, it is an inn and restaurant. The business came under new management in September 2018.

Whistlefield is a hamlet on the east shore of Loch Eck on the Cowal peninsula, Argyll and Bute, West of Scotland. It is home to the Category C listed building, the Whistlefield Inn, which was established around 1801–1804. The hamlet is within the Argyll Forest Park, which is itself part of the Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park.
