Longhorn Dam is a dam crossing the Colorado River in Austin, Texas, United States, where it creates Lady Bird Lake. Completed in 1960, the dam was built by the City of Austin as the last in a chain of Colorado River dams in central Texas begun during the Great Depression. The name refers to its location on a ford used for longhorn cattle drives as a part of the Chisholm Trail in the late 19th century.

Lady Bird Lake (formerly, and still colloquially referred to as Town Lake) is a river-like reservoir on the Colorado River in Austin, Texas, United States. The City of Austin created the reservoir in 1960 as a cooling pond for a new city power plant. The lake, which has a surface area of 416 acres (168 ha), is now used primarily for recreation and flood control. The reservoir is named in honor of former First Lady of the United States Lady Bird Johnson.Lady Bird Lake is the easternmost lake of a chain of reservoirs on the river, which is completely located in Texas, and should not be confused with the larger Colorado River located in the Southwestern United States. This chain, known locally as the Texas Highland Lakes, also includes Lake Buchanan, Inks Lake, Lake LBJ, Lake Marble Falls, Lake Travis, and Lake Austin.

The Boardwalk at Lady Bird Lake is a boardwalk along Lady Bird Lake in Austin, Texas, United States. Construction on the $28 million project was completed during October 2012 – June 2014. Artist Ken Little's art installation Belting It Out was commissioned for the boardwalk and features 36 cast bronze belts displaying lyrics by Texas singers and songwriters. Condé Nast Traveler says, "This section of the Ann and Roy Butler Hike and Bike Trail finally links the entire whole together. Take the time to enjoy a different perspective of Austin from the many viewing areas." The boardwalk begins near the Austin American-Statesman on East Riverside.

The Acton School of Business is a school for entrepreneurship located in Austin, Texas. Offering a full-time program, the school is based on experiential learning. Students analyze business case studies and participate in simulations, such as building real assembly lines and selling products door to door.Acton originally offered an accelerated MBA program in Austin from 2002 to 2019. The school was accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and the Association of Collegiate Business Schools and Programs through Hardin-Simmons University. Due to funding cuts at Hardin-Simmons, Acton lost its accreditation with SACS and closed its Austin campus, but reopened in Madrid, Spain, and is accredited though Universidad Francisco Marroquin. It has maintained its one year, 100 hour week course model and all classes are taught in English.

Travis Heights is a historic neighborhood in south Austin, Texas, United States, bounded by Lady Bird Lake on the north, Interstate 35 on the east, Congress Avenue on the west and Oltorf Street on the south. These boundaries include Fairview Park, an earlier suburb associated with the same developers, running from the west side of Blunn Creek to South Congress Avenue. Part of Travis Heights was stranded east of Interstate 35; many of the same streets to be found west of the highway continue east of it. It was founded in 1912 by Newning, Swisher and General Stacy, but development did not expand rapidly until the 1920s. The city park located along Blunn Creek in Travis Heights was donated by Stacy and bears his name, Stacy Park, as does the "Big Stacy" spring-fed pool and the "Little Stacy" park and swimming pool, built as a WPA project during the Great Depression. Originally conceived as an exclusive district for the wealthy, the adjacent development of Fairview Park was first developed in the late 19th century, but did not really take off. It was not until the 1920s when Travis Heights was developed next to it, that life south of the river was a reasonable venture. Now, with a great mix of mansions, smaller homes, and hip apartments, Travis Heights is among the most desirable residential neighborhoods in Austin. Proximity to South Congress, Downtown Austin, and the major freeways also make Travis Heights one of the best-positioned areas in South Austin. Another attraction of the neighborhood is its closeness to the newly rejuvenated South Congress Avenue, many times called SoCo. South Congress is full of hip cafes and stores, and attracts many tourists and young professionals from downtown. Blunn Creek Nature Preserve is almost 40 acres in Travis Heights, central South Austin, with trails and historical plaques. Travis Heights and Fairview Park are currently seeking designation as a Local Historic District and National Register Historic District.

William B. Travis High School is a high school located in south Austin, Texas, United States, which is part of the Austin Independent School District. It was opened in 1953 and is named after William B. Travis, who was one of the commanding officers at the Battle of the Alamo. It is the oldest high school in Austin, south of the Colorado River. As of November 2009, there were over 1,400 students enrolled. Travis' athletic teams are known as the Rebels, and their school colors are red and grey. The Navy JROTC program at THS is the largest ROTC program in Austin and currently has the best shooting team out of all the JROTC units in the state of Texas. As of February 2015, the JROTC program, for the first time, has qualified for state competition under the command of C/LCDR Martinez, the commanding officer. The school has also been selected as a mentor school by the Texas Education Agency. In 2002, an Institute of Hospitality & Culinary Arts was opened at Travis.

San Jose Cemetery, also referred to as Cemeterio San José and Montopolis Cemetery, is a historic Mexican and Mexican American cemetery in the Montopolis neighborhood of Southeast Austin, Texas.San Jose Cemetery was established between 1919 and 1922 by the Union Fraternal Mexicana. At the time of its establishment, the Montopolis area not included in the Austin city limits as it is today, and would not be until the 1950s. The area was largely rural, without essential services, and suffered from high crime rates. Moreover, segregation era politics prevented integrated cemeteries for people of color, specifically Latinx/Hispanic individuals in the case of San Jose Cemetery. As time went on, the cemetery has suffered from considerable neglect and illegal dumping activity.In 2020, a research team based out of The University of Texas at Austin conducted research on the site investigating the linkage of the cemetery to pandemic-related deaths of the twentieth century.The cemetery is composed of two sections: the first and original section, San Jose I, is located at 705 Montopolis Drive, and the second later addition, San Jose II, is located at 8101 Posten Lane off of Hoeke Lane.

KTSN (1490 AM) is a radio station licensed to Austin, Texas. While KTSN is commercially licensed by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), it is the flagship station of the non-commercial listener-supported "Sun Radio Network" and does not air advertisements. The station is owned by Daryl O'Neal, CEO of Township Media DBA The Sun Radio Network. The network airs a mix of adult album alternative and Americana music, along with other genres such as progressive country, blues and folk music. KTSN is the oldest radio station in Austin still on the air today. It transmits with 1,000 watts, with its transmitter on Tillery Street at East 4th Street in Austin. The studios and offices are in the Hill Country Galleria Mall on Hill Country Boulevard at State Highway 71 in Bee Cave. The station holds periodic fundraisers on the air to support Sun Radio.

The Louis and Mathilde Reuter House is a private limestone home in central Austin, Texas, United States, in the historic Travis Heights neighborhood. The home was built by Louis Reuter, a local entrepreneur who moved to Austin in 1918 and later opened the city's first self-service grocery store. The home boasts an unusual U-shaped design that combines Spanish Revival and Mission Revival styling, with Palladian windows. The home was built without a precise blueprint but rather a "footprint" on the property which spared the grandiose old oak trees. The home is located at 806 Rosedale Terrace. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1987.

Austin ReBlend is a paint recycling program administered by the City of Austin in Austin, Texas. In 2012, Austin ReBlend produced 12,767 US gal (48,330 L) of wholly recycled paint.

The University of Texas-University Charter School is a charter school operated by the University of Texas at Austin, serving about 500 students from kindergarten to 12th grade on twenty-three campuses across Texas.

Larry Monroe Forever Bridge is a bridge mural and memorial to Austin broadcaster and musical scholar Larry Monroe. The bridge's two low walls are decorated with mosaic tiles relating to Monroe and the music he played on Austin radio for more than 30 years. Artist Stefanie Distefano designed and directed the project. The bridge is located on East Side Drive as it crosses Blunn Creek between Stacy Park and Little Stacy Park in the Travis Heights neighborhood in South Austin, Texas.
