Glinton is a village in the north of the City of Peterborough unitary authority area in Cambridgeshire, England. Historically in Northamptonshire, it has a population of 3,130 (2001 Census) and consists of about 1,200 dwellings. It is separated from the urban sprawl of Peterborough and the new township of Werrington by the A15, the Peterborough bypass.

Etton is a village and civil parish in the unitary authority area of the city of Peterborough, Cambridgeshire, in England. For electoral purposes it forms part of Northborough ward in North West Cambridgeshire constituency. Northborough is a small village and civil parish in the Peterborough district, in the ceremonial county of Cambridgeshire, England. It has a pub, a shop, a school and a small castle. Northborough is around eight miles north of the city of Peterborough and one mile south of village of Deeping Gate and the Lincolnshire border. The place-name "Northborough" is first attested in the Anglo-Saxon Chronicle for the year 656, where it appears as Northburh. In an Assize Roll of 1202 it appears as Norburg. The name means 'northern burg or fortified settlement'.Northborough Manor House is a fortified manor house, largely built by Roger de Norburgh in the early fourteenth century. A short way away is the parish church of St Andrew, of which the original Norman sections date back to the late twelfth century. After the restoration of the monarchy Elizabeth Cromwell, widow of Oliver, lived with John Claypole (her son in law) and is said to be buried in this church. However, there is no grave-stone or marker to be seen.The village underwent its largest change in the 1970s, when it expanded hugely with the building of the new estate, increasing the population of the village. Northborough also has a small primary school, which also takes children from other neighbouring villages, such as Maxey and Peakirk. Until relatively recently, the school was housed in the School House, almost opposite the manor along the Lincoln Road. Then, as the village grew, it moved to a new, larger and better equipped site. The school benefits from a large field and adjoining orchard.

Werrington is a residential area of the city of Peterborough, in the ceremonial county of Cambridgeshire, England. For electoral purposes it comprises North Werrington and South Werrington wards. Werrington spans an area of two and a half square miles (6 km²) and has a population of 14,800. Originally a village, Werrington was engulfed by Peterborough in the mid 20th century, as the city expanded. The area is on the northern edge of the conurbation, approximately four miles (6.4 km) from the city centre. There are two distinct areas of Werrington, the village and new Werrington. The village dates from older periods and focuses on the village green. The new Werrington area focuses on the Werrington Centre, a small shopping complex featuring stores for basic needs.

Werrington Dive Under (also known as the Werrington Grade Separation) is a replacement dual track grade separated railway junction at Werrington Junction, 3 miles (5 km) north of Peterborough railway station in Cambridgeshire, England. The junction leads to the Great Northern/Great Eastern Joint line (GN/GE) which goes through Spalding to Lincoln and beyond. Completed and opened in December 2021, the dive under allows trains on the west side of the East Coast Main Line (ECML) to access the GN/GE line without conflicting with the faster passenger services on the ECML. The dive under was constructed by a 'jacked deck' on slide paths installed in access tunnels. The curved 'jack deck', pushed into place beneath the main running lines, will be the first use of such a structure in the United Kingdom. The installation uses a patented method of construction.

Helpston railway station was a station in Helpston, Cambridgeshire, on the Midland Railway's Syston and Peterborough Railway. It was closed in 1966. The Great Northern Railway main line runs adjacent to the Midland Railway at this point, but the Great Northern never had a station in Helpston. This was due to an agreement whereby the Midland carried materials to the site during construction of the Great Northern, and in return the Great Northern offered no competition for services on this section.The goods shed survives, as does the Great Northern Railway signal box, which is now used only to monitor a number of level crossings in the vicinity. Helpston level crossing itself carries the Helpston to Glinton road over the four tracks of the ex-GNR line and the two tracks of the ex-MR line. This was previously two separate level crossings, controlled by two separate signal boxes. There was space for two cars between the level crossings. The crossings were merged and converted from gates to full barriers in the 1970s.

Peakirk railway station served the parish of Peakirk in Cambridgeshire. The station building was converted into a private residence in the early 1990s. It is notable for having few external alterations, excluding a recent extension. Many of the original features are intact, though the platform and good yards have been removed and been replaced with housing.

The Deepings (grid reference TF150094) are a series of settlements close to the River Welland near the borders of southern Lincolnshire and north western Cambridgeshire in eastern England. Peterborough is about 8 miles to the south, Spalding about 10 miles to the north east and Stamford about 8 miles to the west. The area is very low-lying, and gave The Deepings their name (a Saxon name translatable as either 'deep places' or 'deep lands'). The villages are mentioned in the Domesday Book. Deeping Fen lies to the North, and the drainage of it was an important part of seventeenth and eighteenth century land reclamation. It is now the responsibility of the Welland and Deepings Internal Drainage Board.

Deeping Gate is a village and civil parish, lying on the River Welland in Cambridgeshire. Traditionally, the area was part of the Soke of Peterborough, geographically considered a part of Northamptonshire; it now falls within the City of Peterborough unitary authority area of Cambridgeshire. With a very small population, void of any major services, including a post office or even a chapel, the community depends on nearby Market Deeping, one and a quarter miles (2.0 km) north of the river in Lincolnshire, for economic and market services. The parish had a population of 258 males and 257 females according to the 2011 Census. Renaissance composer Robert Fayrfax (Fairfax) was a native of the village. Fairfax House, the most prominent and grand property in the village, was home to the Fairfax Family. In the 1870s Wilson described Deeping Gate as:a hamlet in Maxey parish, Northampton; at the boundary with Lincoln, 1 mile SE of Market-Deeping. Real property, £1, 867. Pop., 224. Houses, 47St. Peter's, Maxey, the most northerly ecclesiastical parish in the Diocese of Peterborough, includes Deeping Gate. For local government purposes it forms part of Northborough ward, within North West Cambridgeshire parliamentary constituency.
