It is located on the North Fork of the Cosumnes River 10.5 miles (17 km) south of Placerville, at an elevation of 863 feet (263 m).The place was first called Nashville Bar, then Quartzville and Quartzburg, before being named for Nashville, Tennessee.Described as "quite a busy town" in 1852, Nashville had a store and boarding house in support of the nearby mines. The nearby Montezuma mine operated into the 1930s, at which time Nashville still had hundreds of residents, a school, and post office; by 1977 all but one business were gone and only thirteen residents remained.A post office operated in Nashville from 1852 to 1854 and from 1870 to 1907.

At its peak, from 1852 to 1856, Buckeye Flat had several stores and at least two hotels. It was home to the first school in the surrounding district.

Yeomet (also, Saratoga and Forks of the Cosumnes) is a former settlement and mining town in Amador County, California. It was at the confluence of Middle and North Forks of the Cosumnes River, about 1 mile (1.6 km) north of Enterprise. The name, reportedly Native American in origin meaning "rocky falls", reflects the rapids upstream from the place. Other accounts place the namesake waterfalls downstream and claim yomet to mean "sounding rock" for the echoing effects there.It was first settled by Edwin Beebee, John D. Morrison, and E. M. Simpson in 1850, and the three established and ran a trading post until 1859. There was a hotel and ferry to cross the Cosumnes, both operated by E. P. Bowman. A post office operated at Yeomet from 1854 to 1861. The settlement prospered with gold miners for a number of years before it faded.

Shingle Springs (formerly, Shingle Spring and Shingle) is a census-designated place (CDP) in El Dorado County, California, United States. The population was 4,432 at the 2010 census, up from 2,643 at the 2000 census. It is located about 40 miles (64 km) from Sacramento in the Gold Country foothills and sits directly on Highway 50. The towns of Coloma and Placerville are less than 15 miles (24 km) away. Shingle Springs is part of the Sacramento–Arden-Arcade–Roseville Metropolitan Statistical Area. The Shingle Springs Band of Miwok Indians, a federally recognized tribe of Maidu and Miwok people, are headquartered in Shingle Springs.

Enterprise is a former mining camp in Amador County, California. It is located 5.5 miles (8.9 km) west-northwest of Fiddletown, on Big Indian Creek, at an elevation of 876 feet (267 m). Established to mine quartz, at its peak it had a population of around a hundred, but the prospects did not pan out, and there are only a few houses in the area now.

The Community Observatory is a public outreach observatory located in Placerville, California, on the campus of the El Dorado Learning Center. The Community Observatory was established in 2006 through the work of the Rotarians of Cameron Park as free family-friendly park for the community. It is operated by a partnership of a team of volunteers, Folsom Lake College, the El Dorado County Office of Education and the Rotarians of Cameron Park. In 2011, the Rotarians of Cameron Park installed the Art Cort Sky Theater as a place for visitors to rest and gaze at the stars. There volunteers are often found providing tours of the constellations. As of 2017, two telescopes are permanently mounted in the observatory: one 17-inch Planewave CDK and one 14-inch Celestron SCT, modified to accommodate a Hyperstar optic system fitted with an Atik Infinity Camera. As of 2017, the Community Observatory had received over 80,000 visitors. Hours can be found through its website, its Facebook page,.Acting as docents are volunteers with an interest in astronomy who donate their time and knowledge to make a visit to the observatory educational. They can provide information about celestial objects, the observatory facility, and telescopes.

The El Dorado County Fair is held in Placerville, California Every Father's Day weekend. Started in 1859 (current site 1939). The El Dorado County Fair features four full days of exhibitions contests and competitions, concerts and events, carnival rides, and Fair food galore. Junior Livestock Auction and still exhibits, such as photography, food items, artwork, homemade wine and homebrew are all on display throughout the Fair's four-day run. Friday night events in the grandstands usually consist of Mutton Bustin' and Humpz and Hornz Bull Riding. Other favorite and traditional activities, such as cooking demonstrations, Free Kid Workshops (usually sponsored by Home Depot) and games including Funnel Cake Eating Contests (for young and old alike), bean spitting contest, Big Wheels Races (usually sponsored by Gold Country Ace Hardware & Hobbies) and more all hosted by Flo the Clown! The famous Annual John M. Studebaker Championship Wheelbarrow Races take place on Sunday evening in the Grandstands. The Father and Child Look-A-Like Contest happens on the main stage Sunday as part of the Father Day activities. The Fair concludes Sunday night at 10 p.m. on Father's Day.The fair was cancelled in 1917–18 because of World War I, 1942–45 because of World War II and 2020 because of the COVID-19 pandemic.2021's fair dates are in mid-September.
