Wayne is a township in Passaic County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey. Home to William Paterson University and located less than 20 miles (32 km) from Midtown Manhattan, the township is a bedroom suburb of New York City and regional commercial hub of North Jersey. As of the 2020 United States census, the township's population was 54,838, an increase of 121 (+0.2%) from the 2010 census count of 54,717, which in turn reflected an increase of 648 (+1.2%) from the 54,069 counted in the 2000 census.Wayne was formed as a township by an act of the New Jersey Legislature on April 12, 1847, from portions of Manchester Township. Totowa was formed from portions of Wayne and Manchester Township on March 15, 1898. Points of interest include William Paterson University, Willowbrook Mall, Wayne Towne Center, High Mountain Park Preserve, and Dey Mansion.

North Jersey Valkyries was an American women’s soccer team, founded in 2009 based in Wayne, New Jersey, United States. The team was a member of the United Soccer Leagues W-League and United Women's Soccer. The team's home field was on the grounds of DePaul Catholic High School. They played their last season in 2016 as the TSF Academy Valkyries,

Wayne Valley High School is a comprehensive four-year public high school, in Wayne, in Passaic County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey. The school serves students in ninth through twelfth grades as one of the two secondary schools of the Wayne Public Schools, the other being Wayne Hills High School. The school is also accredited by the New Jersey Department of Education and has been accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Elementary and Secondary Schools since 1954. Wayne Valley's school colors are blue and white.As of the 2021–22 school year, the school had an enrollment of 1,204 students and 115.0 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 10.5:1. Preakness Stud was the Thoroughbred horse racing and breeding operation established by Medway, Massachusetts businessman Milton H. Sanford in the Preakness section of Wayne, New Jersey at what today is the corner of Valley Road and Preakness Avenue.Milton Sanford named one of his horses Preakness who won the first running of the Dinner Party Stakes and for whom the Preakness Stakes is named.

Mountain View was a station on the Boonton Branch of the Delaware, Lackawanna and Western Railroad. Located in the Mountain View section of Wayne Township, New Jersey, the station was at the Parish Drive bridge over the tracks. The station was 20.8 miles (33.5 km) away from its terminus at Hoboken Terminal on the shores of the Hudson River, where connections would be made to New York City via ferry and the Hudson and Manhattan Railroad. The western terminus. Denville, was 12.8 miles (20.6 km) away, where connections with the Morris and Essex Railroad were available. Just west of the station was Mountain View junction, where a connection was made to the Erie Railroad's New York and Greenwood Lake Railway was made.

Point View Dam (National ID # NJ00236) is a dam in Wayne, Passaic County, New Jersey. The earthen gravity dam was constructed in 1964 to impound the water of Haycock Brook for municipal drinking water. It is 55 feet high with a length of 1100 feet at its crest. Both dam and reservoir are owned and operated by the Passaic Valley Water Commission, and stands as the largest of the Commission's four reservoirs. In 2009 it was slated for a state-funded restoration costing several million dollars.The reservoir it creates, Point View Reservoir, has a water surface area of 465 acres, a maximum capacity of 10,450 acre-feet, and a normal capacity of 8590 acre-feet. Fishing requires a permit from the Passaic Valley Water Commission.

Mountain View, signed on the platform as Mountain View–Wayne, is a station on the Montclair-Boonton Line of NJ Transit in Wayne, New Jersey. Prior to the Montclair Connection in 2002, the station was served by the Boonton Line. The station is located on Erie Avenue, just off of US 202 and Route 23 in Downtown Wayne. Since January 2008, Mountain View station is the second of two stations in Wayne, the other being the Wayne Route 23 Transit Center, a station off the Westbelt interchange.

Wayne Hills High School is a four-year comprehensive community public high school, in Wayne, in Passaic County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey, in the New York metropolitan area. The school serves students in ninth through twelfth grades as one of the two secondary schools that are part of the Wayne Public Schools, the other being Wayne Valley High School. As of the 2022–23 school year, the school had an enrollment of 1,182 students and 121.4 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 9.7:1. There were 69 students (5.8% of enrollment) eligible for free lunch and 21 (1.8% of students) eligible for reduced-cost lunch.

Preakness is an unincorporated community located within Wayne in Passaic County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey.The colt Preakness, for whom the Preakness Stakes Thoroughbred horse race at Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore, Maryland is named, was owned by Milton H. Sanford's Preakness Stables located at the corner of Valley Road and Preakness Avenue. Preakness is the birthplace of Canadian Horse Racing Hall of Fame trainer, Barry Littlefield and his brother Fred Littlefield, a jockey who won the 1888 Preakness Stakes. The name itself was said to have come from the Native American Minisi name Pra-qua-les for "Quail Woods" in the area. An alternative translation derives the name from per-ukunees, which is thought to mean "young buck".

Neumann Preparatory School (known familiarly as Neumann Prep) was a private, Catholic college-preparatory school located in Wayne, New Jersey, within the Roman Catholic Diocese of Paterson. It was founded as The Blessed John Neumann Preparatory Seminary in 1965. In 1970 Neumann was designated a Preparatory School and was all-male until the 1974–1975 academic year. The school was named for Saint John Neumann. Neumann Prep closed at the end of the 1989–1990 academic year. Since then the campus has been the site of a Montessori school and the Lakeview Learning Center. The current tenants are the Al-Ghazaly High School. The site is also headquarters of TSF Academy, a well respected soccer academy in Northern New Jersey. The property was owned by the Diocese of Paterson.
