Banham Zoo

St Mary the Virgin Church, Banham is a Grade I listed Church of England parish church in Banham, Norfolk. The basic material of the building is the natural flint of the area, and as is usual with Norfolk churches, white freestone was sparingly used for windows and framing because it had to be brought laboriously from quarries in Northamptonshire.

Banham is an English village and civil parish in the county of Norfolk, about 7 miles (11 km) north of Diss, 12 miles (19 km) east of Thetford and 20 miles (32 km) south-west of Norwich. It is home to Banham Zoo, a private collection open to the public for more than 40 years, which houses over 2000 animals. The Church of England parish church, dedicated to St Mary the Virgin, is a Grade I listed building. The name of the village derives from "Bean homestead/village", or perhaps "hemmed-in land where beans grow".

Kenninghall and Banham Fens with Quidenham Mere is a 48.4-hectare (120-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest west of Banham, in Norfolk, England. This site in the valley of the River Whittle has a lake, tall fen, wet woodland and calcareous grassland. Springs feed an area of fen grassland dominated by purple moor grass, blunt-flowered rush and black bog-rush. The site is private land with no public access.

Kenninghall is a village and civil parish in Norfolk, England, with an area of 5.73 sq mi (14.8 km2) and a population of 950 at the 2011 census. It falls within the local government district of Breckland. Home to the kings of East Anglia, after the Norman invasion of 1066 William the Conqueror granted the estate to William of Albany and his heirs as a residence for the Chief Butler of England.

Old Buckenham Windmill is a tower flour mill which stands in the village of Old Buckenham, Norfolk, England. It is a Grade II* listed building, notable for being the largest diameter windmill in the country. The tower was built in 1818 of brick in five storeys and is 8 meters (26.5 feet) in diameter at the base. The cap was boat shaped and extended to the rear. At 7.3 meters (24 feet) in diameter, it was the largest known cap in the country, requiring five truck wheels and 17 centring wheels to carry the weight. Originally fitted with eight plain sails, it was converted to use four patent sails. There were five pairs of French stones on the second floor but milling at the mill ceased in 1926 and the stones were broken up.The mill was originally built for John Burlingham, who was also the miller at a local postmill. During its working life, it was owned by Jeremiah James Colman, of Colman's Mustard, and later by Prince Frederick Duleep Singh, who lived in Old Buckenham Hall at the end of the 19th century. It is now the property of the Norfolk Windmills Trust, who are in the process of restoring it to its original condition. The mill is normally open to the public on the second Sunday of each month from May to September.

Guiltcross Rural District was a rural district in Norfolk, England from 1894 to 1902. It was formed under the Local Government Act 1894 based on the Guiltcross rural sanitary district. It lay in the southern part of the county between Thetford and Diss and took its name from the ancient Guiltcross hundred. In 1902, Guiltcross RD was abolished and its territory divided between Thetford, Wayland and Depwade RDs.

Royal Air Force Fersfield or more simply RAF Fersfield (originally known as RAF Winfarthing) is a former Royal Air Force station located 16 miles (26 km) southwest of Norwich, Norfolk, England.

Old Buckenham is a village and civil parish in the English county of Norfolk, approximately 29 km (18 mi) south-west of Norwich. It covers an area of 20.06 km2 (7.75 sq mi) and had a population of 1,294 in 658 households at the 2001 census falling to a population of 1,270 living in 529 households at the census 2011. For the purposes of local government, it falls within the district of Breckland.

Wilby is a village and former civil parish, 17 miles (27 km) south west of Norwich, now in the parish of Quidenham, in the Breckland district, in the county of Norfolk, England. In 1931 the parish had a population of 94. Wilby has a church called All Saints. Wilby Hall, a country house is north of the village.

Fersfield is a village and former civil parish, now in the parish of Bressingham, in the South Norfolk district, in the county of Norfolk, England. The village is located 3.8 miles (6.1 km) north-west of Diss and 19 miles (31 km) south-west of Norwich. It was the home parish of Francis Blomefield, whose History of Norfolk documents the history of much of South Norfolk. In 1931 the parish had a population of 194. On 1 April 1935 the parish was abolished and merged with Bressingham.
