The St. Francis Xavier Church in the Downtown district of Missoula, Montana, is the tallest church in Missoula, and one of the tallest in the state (by height to roof). It is also the tallest church in Missoula County, Montana. It has paintings well over 100 years old, which were done by a brother of the Society of Jesus, a kitchen helper, who painted them in his spare time. It is located at 420 West Pine Street.

Constructed in 1893, the Gleim II building at 255-257 West Front Street was built for madame Mary Gleim. While altered over the years, it was restored in the 1990s, and retains Italianate features such as the brick corbelling along the top front. Along with the nearby Gleim Building, Gleim II was built of brick, replacing a prior wooden structure. During the height of Missoula's Redlight District, it was one of eight brothels owned by Mary Gleim.

Mrs. Lydia McCaffery's Furnished Rooms, also known as the McCauley Lodging House and now known as the St. Patrick's House, is a former rooming house in Missoula, Montana. It is included in the Missoula Downtown Historic District. It is a two-and-one-half story American Foursquare house.

The Milwaukee Depot in Missoula, Montana, was built by the Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul and Pacific Railroad (otherwise known as The Milwaukee Road) in 1910 as part of the railroad's transcontinental "Pacific Extension". The depot complex consists of two buildings, both made of brick. The depot itself is a two-story rectangular building that had passenger waiting rooms and the station agent's office. The second floor contained railroad offices. The depot has two towers that rise above it. There is a Mission influence in the tile roofs and decoration. The second building was the baggage room. When the railroad went bankrupt in the mid-1980s, the buildings were sold and turned into a restaurant and bar. A new addition was built that connected the depot with the baggage room. In the late 1980s, the restaurant went out of business and the building sat vacant. In the mid-1990s, the building was bought by the Boone and Crockett Club who moved their national headquarters there from Washington, DC. The club leased the second floor to the University of Montana for use as offices. The depot was placed on the National Register of Historic Places due to its architecture and also due to its association with the commercial development of Missoula.

Zip Auto, at 251 W. Main St. in Missoula, Montana, was built in 1937 and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1990.It was designed by Missoula architect H. E. Kirkemo. It is an Art Moderne-style L-shaped one-story flat-roofed poured concrete structure with four garage bays.

The Palace Hotel is a building located in Downtown Missoula, Montana. Built in 1909, it became one of Missoula's first multi-story hotels. Today, the building houses apartments. Its architectural style is Renaissance revival. The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.

It is located along the Clark Fork River near its confluence with the Bitterroot and Blackfoot Rivers in western Montana and at the convergence of five mountain ranges, thus it is often described as the "hub of five valleys". The 2020 United States Census shows the city's population at 73,489 and the population of the Missoula Metropolitan Area at 117,922. After Billings, Missoula is the second-largest city and metropolitan area in Montana. Missoula is home to the University of Montana, a public research university. The Missoula area began seeing settlement by people of European descent in 1858 including William T. Hamilton, who set up a trading post along the Rattlesnake Creek, Captain Richard Grant, who settled near Grant Creek, and David Pattee, who settled near Pattee Canyon. Missoula was founded in 1860 as Hellgate Trading Post while still part of Washington Territory. By 1866, the settlement had moved east, 5 miles (8 km) upstream, and had been renamed Missoula Mills, later shortened to Missoula. The mills provided supplies to western settlers traveling along the Mullan Road. The establishment of Fort Missoula in 1877 to protect settlers further stabilized the economy. The arrival of the Northern Pacific Railway in 1883 brought rapid growth and the maturation of the local lumber industry. In 1893, the Montana Legislature chose Missoula as the site for the state's first university. Along with the U.S. Forest Service headquarters founded in 1908, lumber and the university remained the basis of the local economy for the next 100 years.By the 1990s, Missoula's lumber industry had gradually disappeared, and as of 2009, the city's largest employers were the University of Montana, Missoula County Public Schools, and Missoula's two hospitals. The city is governed by a mayor–council government with 12 city council members, two from each of the six wards. Loyola Sacred Heart High School is a private, Roman Catholic high school in Missoula, Montana. It is one of two high schools in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Helena, the other being Butte Central Catholic in Butte. It is affiliated with St. Joseph Elementary School, and both institutions are supported by the Loyola Sacred Heart Foundation. The Boys and Girls sports teams go by different names, being the Rams and the Breakers, respectively.

It was added to the National Register of Historic Places listings on September 1, 1976.It is a two-story building on an elevated basement, with walls of native sandstone. It was designed by Missoula architect A.J. Gibson and built during 1908-10 by Spokane contractor Williams & Oliver Co. on the site of the previous county courthouse.
